    Day 18

    204.4 | 190.8 | 164.4

UGH!!!! This reboot is way different from all others I've ever done. I don't usually have this many days so early on in the reboot where the scale doesn't move. Time to start cranking up the workouts. Hitting the pavement today. Doing a 31 day challenge starting today. I have to walk and/or run at least 1 mile a day for the entire Month.

On the bright side of things, yesterday was definately a Gold Star day for me!! Had a going away luncheon for a co-worker at a pizza place (my favorite). I decided not to attend as I knew I would have given in and eaten something. Then, I was in charge of the cake and cutting it up for the office after our meeting. Cut that full sheet cake into pieces and even got some of that yummy icing on my fingers. Never even thought of taking a piece and I didn't even lick my fingers!! It was a proud moment!!

    Day 16

    204.4 | 191.8 | 164.4

Phew, finally going back down. Dissappointed, but not discouraged. Why did I deviate from my original juice recipes and why did I buy my broth. I bought some broth from our local Thai restaurant over the weekend and actually went up on the scale again, but this time I can't blame my new juices! I knew the minute I sipped on it that it was high in sodium, but at that point I didn't care. I don't remember it being so salty before (taste buds changing!). It was hot and felt good going down. It was cold over the weekend and it completely hit the spot. I bought two quarts, and even tho I knew it was salty, I continued to drink it both Saturday and Sunday until it was all gone. I hate to throw things away that I paid for. But, I paid the ultimate price with some fluid retention and higher numbers on the scale, but after yesterday and being in my normal routine with my orignal juice recipes, lots of water (and no broth), the scale went back down this morning. YAY!!!

Lesson 1 learned: If I need variety in my juices, SUBSTITUTE ingredients for ones in my original recipes instead of trying to find new ones that I may or may not like or are not the right fruit to vegetable ratio. Instead of kale, use collard greens; instead of cucumbers, use half cucumbers and half zucchini. Okay, I've got this!!

Lesson 2 learned: Don't take short cuts. If I am in need of some hot vegetable broth, MAKE IT MYSELF so I can control the ingredients (i.e. SALT)!!! Feeling much lighter today! Ahhhhh...

    Day 13 today!

    204.4 | 192.0 | 164.4

Are you kidding me??????? Going back to my original juices from last years 60 day reboot. I think the "new" ones I picked out and have been drinking for the past 4 to 5 days are not the right blend. Going back to what I know works for me and makes me feel good and satisfied.

Last year during our 60 day reboot, I had lost 13.2 pounds on my 11th day weigh in. Not too shabby!!

Day 10 today! I'm 1/6th of the way through my Reboot!!

    204.4 | 192.4 | 164.4

6/10th of a pound lost overnight. I'll take it. Tomorrow is my offical 10 day weigh-in and I'm excited to see how I did compared to last years 60 day reboot 10th day weigh-in. Right now I stand at a total of 12 pounds lost in 9 days. Last year at this weigh-in, I was down 13.2 pounds. I'd like to at least meet or beat that total at tomorrow's weigh-in, but I honestly won't be disappointed if I don't. Who can complain with a 12 pound weight loss in 10 days? I certainly can't and WON'T!!

  • Migrain on Day 11??

I've been feeling great for the most part then last night I started to get a dull headach. It was worse when I woke up today and has gotten worse throughout the day, then about 45 minutes ago, it turned into one of my Aura (spelling) Migraines (where I lose partial vision).

I thought I'd be over all the headaches by now, is this to be expected even on day 11? All I ever hear about is headaches early on but usually stopping around day 4 or 5.

The Mr. and I are on Day 21 today and weighed ourselves. Between the two of us, we've lost the weight of an average 6 year old kid! Woot Woot! 44.2 pounds gone forever!!

    Me: 20.2 pounds
    Mr.: 24.0 pounds

We have no intentions of stopping short of our 60 day goal! The first two weeks was a rollercoaster ride, but things seem to have evened out for us this past week.

  • Whoo, Hooo! We hit the half way mark yesterday...here's to the next 30 days!

Yesterday marked the end of our first 30 day Reboot! Our goal is 60 days so we are plugging along and not stopping until we get there! The Mr. is down 34 pounds and I'm down 24 pounds. I need to get in to see my doctor to have my blood work done and do the comparisons. I'm anxious to see how those nnumbers compare.

Feeling really good, but still have not incorporated any exercise into my diet, but I am way more active during the day (getting out of my chair and walking around at work more often), and staying on my feet when I get home from work by either grocery shopping and/or cleaning, cooking (for the Kid) or juicing. I rarely get to sit down from 5 pm to 9 pm. Constant walking and standing and bending and lifting. I suppose I can count some of that as exercise ;-)

I also need to start incorporating coconut water into my diet. Sometimes I feel a bit lightheaded and wonder if maybe my electrolytes are off or something. And, I'd like to start consuming some chia seeds to help with my regularity. The Mr. doesn't seem to have a problem going every day. Me, could be 3 or 4 days between movements.

Anyway, just wanted to report in and gloat a bit ;-) Happy Juicing!!

  • Because of Juicing, we lost an 8 year old child!!

That's right....Between my husband and I, we've lost the weight of an average 8 year old child since we started juicing. Gone, Gone forever. I'm down 32.2 pounds and my husband is down 45 pounds. We are still far from our goals, but that's okay. We are taking one day at a time and enjoying our new found energy and life.

We started our journey on February 4th and are almost at our 60 day Reboot goal. We cannot wait to finish it to see our final reboot loss and continue with this healthy lifestyle change to reach our ultimate goals. We might even extend the reboot and go 90 days! We both are feeling great and our doctor gave us the OK. Haven't gone in for additional bloodwork, but when I was there last week because of laryngitis, my blood pressure was back to normal....lowest he's seen it in a while. He said he can't wait for us to come back after we complete our 60 days to get our bloodwork rechecked.

Thanks Joe Cross and the FSND team!

  • Losing Weight Quickly and Extra Flabby Skin

What have you done to help minimize the extra sagging / flabby skin you have from the quick weight loss you are experiencing with juicing?

I am really concerned I am not going to like my body after I lose this weight because of the excess skin and really want to minimize the sagging skin during the reboot. Any tips?

I plan to start exercising again next week and incorporate strength training and cardio. Is that enough or is there something else I should be doing to help firm up the skin while juicing.

    Thanks!

Since juicing, I notice my teeth have this gritty film like substance on them by the end of the day. Is this normal? I forgot to bring my toothbrush with me today at work so I could brush again at lunch time. The feeling when I rub by tongue on my teerth is going to drive me crazy. I forgot to brush my teeth last night before going to bed and it felt like there was something sticky on my molars when I woke up this morning. When I'd clench them together and then open my mouth, they'd stick together. Strange.

  • How many ounces of juice should we consume daily?

My husband and I are each drinking between 80 and 96 ounces of juice per day. Should we be drinking more? I just want to make sure we are drinking enough Juice.

On top of that, we each have a cup of hot herbal tea in the morning and at night (with ginger and lemon) and about 64 to 80 ounces of water per day.

  • I tomatoes are a fruit, but is it considered a fruit juice or veggie juice?

My husband HATES beets and one of the substitutions Joe has listed is tomatoes. DH doesn't like those either, but will tolerate them over beets. So, we've been juicing with a lot of tomatoes. Then it dawned on me, tomatoes are a fruit, not a veggie, but it's in a lot of our veggie drinks.

Do tomatoes count as a veggie in our juices or should we cut back on tomatoes b/c they count as a fruit juice? We want to make sure we are staying within our 20/80 fruits to veggie ratio.

    Thanks!

Not b/c I don't like them, but b/c I'm not hungry like I was at the begining of my fast where I was drinking 5 drinks a day. I'm averaging 48 to 50 oz. of juice a day, plus my water and herbal decaf tea with ginger. Should I be forcing myself to drink another glass of juice?

My energy level is good and I feel wonderful, just not that hungry these past few days. Normal?

Hello out there! I'm 45 (next weekend) and I'm sick and tired of being FAT, SICK and TIRED!! A friend recommended FS&ND last week after I posted on FB that I was going to try jucing again and we watched it together as a family. At the end, my husband looked at me and said, 'When do you want to start?" I was shocked he even wanted to do it with me. He is total Atkins dieter and does not really like vegetables. So on Monday (Feb 4th) we both started juicing. This is a lifestyle change we have to make. I don't want our daughter to think yo-yo dieting is the way to go and that the bad choices we make have consequences. I want her to see how hard it is to make these life style changes at our ages and to help her see that eating healthy from the get-go is the way to go for many reasons. I'm working on her to try some of our juices, but she's not thrilled with them. Oh well, but I have found I am incorporating more veggies into her diet than before since I have all of them in the fridge now.

The first few days, the headachs were brutal for Hub and somewhat irritating for me. But we got through it and are on day 6. The biggest issue right now that we are facing is being tired all the time, but we are determined to get through this and feel the benefits all you long time rebooters are feeling. We owe it to our daughter to be good role models. How do we expect her to make good food choices and stay healthy when we are FAT and make bad food choices (eat out all the time, over eat, etc). So our journey begins. We are shooting for 60 days. Earlier today, I was ready to throw in the towel, but I remember something someone wrote on the board....

"Never quit in the middle of a juice day. If you want to quit, finish out the day and quit in the morning before you juice."

So, needless to say, that stuck with me and once I had a nap and felt better, I wanted to push on. I have no desire to quit anymore and already have prepared my juices for the morning. I find that really helps, too, cuz if I have one juice in the morning, I have to finish the day out with nothing but juices.

I am down almost 11 pounds and my husband is down about 9 or 10 pounds in 6 days. Aside from being tired a good portion of the day, I feel good when I am energized. I just wish I could spread out that energy throughout the entire day. but who wouldn't, right?

I thought it would be good to have a place where anyone can come and share (or rant), whether you are doing Juice Only (JO) or Juice Modified (JM - juice plus healthy eating), regardless of if you are just starting on the path, part way along, or at the finish line, whether you are in the UK, the US or Timbuktu! Jump in, saddle up, let's go a juicing!
