"You never, ever, ever have to eat anything you don't want to eat. You're all big boys and girls. Toughen up. Learn to say no (or make your mom proud and say, 'No, thank you'). Learn to stick up for yourself. Just because it's your sister's birthday, or your best friend's wedding, or you company picnic does not mean you have to eat anything. It's always a choice, and we would hope that you stopped succumbing to peer pressure in the seventh grade."

"It's not that I would have cheated on unhealthy food... It's that I had made a commitment to Juice Only... and our commitments are important, even if we are trying to break them in a healthy way." Freddie Post

This is from sunshine at the sunshine clubbe - I'm trying to keep this in mind each week...

In this past 1 year of me being on this plan (with some mega slips in between ha ha), I have found, finding a balance and remaining sane is by far the toughest thing. It wasn't so tough to give up chocolate, to give up meat, to give up my glass of weekend wine, as much as it was to keep myself sane in this process where the scale was concerned. If you read some of my posts from 1 year back when I just started, you will know what I mean. The scale use to drive me crazy!

But now I am certainly more balanced in my approach than what I had been a year ago. Over the past year I figured that I will need to continue on a modified reboot (juice protein shake & a solid food dinner) to even maintain my weight. I have had to do that just to maintain my 50lbs loss. That was a revelation. So I soon realized that this is something that I have to adopt as a lifestyle else all the weight I lose will be right back. So when I realized that I knew I have to disconnect from the scale. I do a rounds of "juice only runs" every now and then to shed whatever weight I gain from my slips and then right back to modified reboot.

Scale management - I don't weigh myself at all when I am on "juice only" because I know there is nothing more I can do than being on "juice only", no matter what my scale says. At other times I weigh myself once a week to keep tab. I have learnt to love my body and appreciate it for what it does. This wasn't the case before. Before I would curse my body and push it to do the impossible and be hopping mad at it for not doing so. I would increase my water intake, have senna tea for "extra" bowel movement, obsess over which veggie I am having in my juices, what fruit I'm adding into my juices. The list goes on and on. Ok sometimes those things helped, but when I see it in retrospect, it was temporary. One slip and I would gain a few pounds already. I have to go over those pounds all over again. And it kept happening throughout the year. And I know for sure it will go on for life. I cannot be certain that I WILL NEVER SLIP. I will. And infact during family vacations I have given myself the liberty to eat non reboot friendly food and drink wine. So this is a journey for life. You see what I'm trying to say? Your scale may or may not move today. What difference does it make. It will eventually move. How many days...how many months...how many years can you be obsessing over your scale. Once you accept this as your lifestyle (which you have to, if you want long term success and do not want to gain all the weight back), the scale becomes such an insignificant entity. Keep in mind that these 60 days what you are doing is just the beginning. If you want a lasting change, it's got to be a lifestyle change. I know...I know...it's hard...but its the truth. Ask Elias...ask Freddie...and others who've been at it for a year now.

And last but certainly not the least is SUNSHINE CLUBBE! Trust me when I say this. This clubbe has kept me sane. Without support there is no way....NO WAY....that you can successfully maintain this lifestyle. I have made some friends for life here, who I can turn to for support anytime. Some of us have become so close that we even fight with each other like real friends :) We discuss, share and seek advice on even other aspects of our life besides food & exercise. Aside from physical challenges, this is more of an emotionally challenging journey. Without Sunshine Clubbe I would be nowhere!"

Hey Tony,, just wanted to say hello and also say that after reading some of your posts, that we have some things in common. I know what you mean about getting it right this time and such, as I will make progress then fall back into putting some weight on. up and down my weight goes and sometimes I feel as if I can look at a plate of food and put on a kilo or two. I used to be so thin and when I reached my later years, it is as if my metabolism has just slowed to a crawl. This juicing has been the only thing that works, and I have to make the commitment and dig for more info and put it into practice. The Drs that I have seen over the years, just talk crap ( in my experience) and want to prescribe meds for everything it seems. Sorry for droning on, just wanted to connect and say hang in there, you are not alone. Kind regards, rob

Went from 238 to 214 in March to April - but then put on 11 pounds in 6 weeks! I'm back to 210 after getting serious again the past 6 weeks. It's a battle - I want to "figure it out" this time, by eating right and exercising. Hope your medical stuff is over - great to see you!
