I have begun today. Going for 30 days. A little daunted! Especially for the first few days ????

Morning, Skydancer. :) Whoo hoo, Day One!

Listen, you can do this. You can be like Joe and like Phil in the movie. We're not daunted by "days" -- we're daunted by our BODIES and what we have created in them thru taking in the wrong foods. But now is the time to create a whole NEW body. Seriously! Don't let those toxins derail you!

p.s. Do you mind telling me what is in your photo? I can't make it out at all. Old eyes here. Hmm, is it upside down and the white clouds in the lower right quadrant are actually the sky? With a face just barely exposed behind something? Do tell, please. The site does get photos upside down some.

I'm juicing my own concoction of spinach, celery, ginger, green apples and pineapple. Also a celery spinach, raw turmeric root, tomatoes and a little green apple. I love both of these!

Hi, Green Sonja. My guys and I really like the pineapple in a green drink... your second recipe is an unknown to me. Turmeric, tomatoes -- I've put those together, but the addition of the green apple, a bit of sweetness adn sourness -- having a hard time imagining that combo! So I don't know if I'm that adventurous! But I do need a second way to use the turmeric root.

OMG! I went to the store and bought things for 5 days of juicing. I didnt have much in my fridge before. Now its all green and I can barely close the door. Amazing how much we eat out of boxes and cans... The lady that was ringing up my food didnt know what half the things I bought were. LOL Collards, Kale, Swiss Chard, Beets, Romaine Lettuce, etc. Expensive, took up a lot of space and mostly green...I can already say the beets are vile. I have never liked beets and driving home from Tucson, with them in my car I almost ralphed from the smell. LOL Tomorrow I start a new chapter in my life. And a new way of looking at food and why I eat it. I WILL need ALL of you for support. Thanks for being there and please feel free to give me advice... Much love and sweet dreams!!!! Tomorrow I will drink my favorite color..... GREEN! :-)

Great shopping trip, Karen! (A new standard would be aiming for my next trip to include something the cashier doesn't recognize, roflol. Umm, I'm not there yet and buying most of my produce at a Sprouts where the cashiers are more likely to recognize stuff. <Grin>)

Glad to meet you and welcome to the world of juicing. Change is good - maybe that's a good mantra for us.

I'll post on beets over on the list as maybe someone else will be trying them out.

how are you doing after 2 weeks? I'm on day 2 & i'ts tough, I could use some good news.

  • Soose

Toniette, this is DEFINITELY GOING TO PASS. Hang in there and then you only have to do this once. Try to remember in the midst of it: "I know there were worse things in life that I've lived thru -- I can do this, too!"

Do you have the option of just going to bed? Really taking it easy?

Distract yourself with something if you can! Watch all the Reboot with Joe movies and others. (Come onto the groups and get some recommendations if you can't find them yourself.)

Come post a LOT. I think you didn't join any groups yet? Lots of us, that's the way we made it thru -- by posting a lot. Seriously, lol.

Push water, rest, let your body detox! If necessary for aches, although I almost never take anything at all, I say take an aspirin or ibuprofen. (Others may debate or nay say this but I decided not to live in that type of pain and I'm not sorry I did it.)

Try the ginger root ale I wrote you about -- it can really help.

Hi Soose. Rand here. Thanks for the friend request. I look forward to future conversations. Have you been a member long?

  • Soose

Hi, Rand. I guess it's been several years since I first came here when I saw the FSND movie. It's been over 11 years since my family went Vegan and we went on our first reboot a few months after that (not with Rebootwithjoe). I can't remember when I started juicing. My whole family kind of lost our way in the interim at some point, and even started eating non-Vegan for a short while in there... but have kept trying. I finally came back in mid-February of this year determined to stick with it. And I'm still here!

The site doesn't work as well as it did when I came a few years ago. I've lost a few people who came, successfully -- and amazingly! -- rebooted, and then went away. I've learned if I want to keep track of someone's progress or find their posts, or their stories for inspiration when I need it, I had best befriend them, so I can find them later. (Search is only one of the features that does not work well.)

You've been at this a long time, and I hope to learn a lot from you!

I think they have an edit button here if you look closely -- at least they do on the group posts. You might want to edit this post and remove your email or you might start getting spam.

Thank you soose for all the info incredibly helpful as for food I react to it seems high fat hence the chips taking affect, went to the docs in an emergency as in crippling pain and they were thinking Gaul stones but couldn’t find anything after tests, that was about 5 months ago and while it happened again a few times it has since gone away apart from the way I feel after chips since then I have gone from vegetarian to vegan not sure if that’s had any impact but feel a lot better in myself will definitely look up the books you suggested once again many thanks

@Mellyjelly, decades ago, I had the gallstone problem. Definitely do not eat anything that might trigger that pain! Just in case! In my case, it was triggered by eating fats, once by borderline spoiled food I got at a Chinese restaurant, and once I could clearly see it triggered by a stressful phone call. The stomach dumps acid, I guess, in these situations. And doesn't eating fat trigger the release of bile from the gallbladder, because that's it's job, to digest fat.

Chips are so very addictive! Make yourself a slogan, "NOT ONE MORE PASSES MY LIPS!" Good luck!

Senior citizens have a unique perspective on health. We have more issues to be considered than weight loss. Although some of us are in this for weight loss, we struggle with issues like strength/mobility, bone health, and other health problems associated with aging. I am going to be 70 in 2014 and my husband and I are raising 2 grandchildren, so it is in my best interest to stay healthy as I continue to "age gracefully". I have done several reboots/juice fasts. I am 80-85% raw and 100% vegan. If there are any other senior citizens going through this reboot with Joe, let's hear from you. Good luck!
