:-D Thanks Sam..nice to be back and on track. Im feeling so much better I could just jump ...lol Alas this stupid stress fracture in my foot really impairs my ability to walk....so I sit on my big ball and bounce ..thinking it's time to get my weights out of the closet too :-D
Well I am on day 7 today and it is going great. I was despairing that I was ever going to get on track again but a nice little stomach bug helped me along...haha who would think, huh! After a couple days of not being able to eat anything, I decided I might as well take advantage and start juicing....I have been having one smoothie and 3 juices and am feeling much clearer and a bit more energetic already! My hubby has been having some juice too along with the good veggie food I make for him and he is buzzing around like a maniac! He totally loves this way of eating, it's so nice not to have to cook tempting things!
What Happens To Fat When You Burn It Off?You learn early in chemistry class that matter cannot be created or destroyed; it can only change form. So, how do those rules apply to the human body? Specifically, where does fat go when it "disappears"? Does it turn into something else? Is this all as mysterious as it seems?
The answer is: kind of. Shape reports that, according to a recent study from the British Medical Journal that surveyed doctors and biochemistry students, even those science folk weren't quite sure what happens to fat after you burn it off. Researchers also learned that an alarming number of personal trainers and nutritionists believe fat converts to energy or heat — which isn't actually true.
Researcher Ruben Meerman traced atom pathways and determined that 80% of the atoms from fat molecules leave the body through your lungs. This means you're actually releasing most fat through carbon dioxide via your breath. The remaining 20% is released through water in the form of sweat, urine, tears, and other bodily fluids. Turns out there's actual meaning behind the phrase "sweat it out."
Feeling reflective today...I am on Day 5 and am enjoying much greater clarity of mind than when I was in my junk fueled haze. Thinking about all the times I have lost huge amounts of weight and then gained it back, and why I allowed that to happen. It occurs to me that although my body changed dramatically, the way I thought never really did..In my mind I was still a fat girl, still thought and felt the same about myself. Yes being thinner made doing things easier, I exercised, ate healthy food, felt better and took some pride in my accomplishment, but there were other more disquieting feelings that I tried to ignore and ultimately I believe were the reason I always stalled and would eventually return to old habits. If I ever hope to conquer the weight problem, I know I am going to have to address my deepest inmost fears and feelings and either vanquish or integrate them into the healthy, happy me I desire to be. Changing the inner me will be a far greater challenge than changing my outward appearance because my body is just the visible manifestation of my inner state of turmoil. When our mind and body is not in harmony, there is a constant physical and mental battle going on between them to attain it. I think there is far too much focus on weight loss and not enough on the mental changes that must accompany it . Almost anyone can lose weight by doing the right things but very few are successful in sustaining it. THAT should be a huge clue that something more is needed than the perfect weight loss plan! Just losing the weight is NOT the magic cure all to happiness, We need to lose the emotional baggage too! If we are not emotionally equipped to cope with the new expectations and demands that go along with the weight loss, and we regress repeatedly, it can actually be more damaging than beneficial. Taking the time to figure out what really got us into this condition in the first place and how we can change those circumstances or emotions is a vital key to maintaining our weight loss successfully. And that folks is my two cents worth for today. LOL

Hello again. I've been on hiatus for a couple months but I am back! On day 2 of juicing again cause I went completely off the rails. Well...no use crying about it...just have to get with the program once more.

Oh I am totally in love with my granbee. I forgot how much I love that newborn smell! I still have the touch too..can soothe the fussy right to sleep in no time....our daughter was so happy to go out with her dad this afternoon and leave him with me. They haven't been getting much sleep...LOL
Gail, I can just hear you gushing :) It's so nice that you got to meet the little guy. How's your stress and pain level? I went to send you a message after you wrote about possibly moving closer to Edmonton - and your post was gone :( The idea of moving after 40 years is a bit scary. My parents retired to Penticton after living in NW Ontario their entire lives. It was quite the move, but they got to see their youngest grandchildren grow up. Life has been hectic around here. We've had a house inspection from BC Housing that threw me for a loop, trips to the hospital in Kelowna for Faith's ankle, a bad back for Rod which has made him into a bit of an ogre with me trying to keep the boat steady...but life goes on. I hope you're doing okay.

I completely understand and empathize where you all might be coming from - I have so been there and done that. The hardest part is just making the decision to commit to your self. It seems that once you make the decision to overcome confusing eating habits and make a change....the quick results and new found energy pumps you up to follow through, prevail and find success.

I thought since the Holidays are coming up as well as the end of the year and I would rather start the year off on a positive note then as a desperate resolution, I will do nothing but juices, smoothie and salad until the end of the year. I know just juices alone would give me faster weight loss but I am trying to focus on health and not just weight alone as well as something that is sustainable for the long haul. I would love company and support if anyone else is interested? Join me and we can encourage and support each other. :)

My body likes it when I'm juicing, so January 1 will be Day-1 of 30 or so. If you would like to join me (a seasoned juicer) for the first month of the year, please become a member of the group and commit to the month. I'd originally planned on starting on the second, but why wait. The first of the month sounds good to me. My only request is that food is not talked about. Retraining the brain is key and talking about the food we used to eat, want to eat or did eat isn't beneficial to anyone. You can mention the ingredients that go into your juice and what kind of protein powder you may be using, but other than that, all talk of food is out. I'd love to have you join me in this challenge.
