  • About: Middle aged male looking to finally place health as a major priority and reverse lifelong poor eating habits. I have so many blessings in life that it's ridiculous the one thing that is completely within my control (what I put into my mouth) is the major area in my life where things are out of control. I successfully completed my first 30 day reboot in February and I lost 24 pounds dropping my weight from 243 to 219. Following the guidance given by the doctors behind the "Fork Over Knives" movie I've adopted a plant based diet and have since continued to lose about 1 to 1.5 pounds a week. Two months later, at 209, I'm now starting a second 28 day reboot to get to my long term goal of 165 pounds. If I can stick with it, this 2nd reboot will hopefully take me to 190 pounds or lower. From their I'll either close the final gap with another reboot in a few months or, if I can develop some patience, I'll take the slow path and just rely on the plant based diet to get me to my goal.

  • Favorite Juice? 100% vegetable juice. It satiates my hunger the best even if it isn't the best tasting juice.

    Wrapped up my 30 day reboot two days ago on Sunday -- my starting weight on day 1 was 243 and on day 30 it was 219. 24 pound loss is just over 4 weeks is not too shabby at all -- particularly with no noticeable ill effects. A good start to my long term goal getting down to 180.

    Two days later, after a day and a half of sensible meals of solid food, I'm still at 219. Happy that I haven't seen a bounce back which I had mentally prepared for. I'll be juicing for dinner this evening just reinforce it as a continuing habit and help with further weight reduction. After dinner last night, I can see that it would be VERY easy for me to slip back into eating more food than I need to satiate my hunger. I MUST get better about that -- I somehow need to constantly remind myself to eat slowly and thoughtfully.

    Juicing got me used to spending time in the kitchen preparing (and cleaning up after) my own meals so I'm now helping my wife prepare meals -- something she is enjoying very much. Were putting extra effort into making the meals vegetable and whole grain strong, with an emphasis on variety and taste over quantity. Even better, our two teen kids liked my first post-reboot dinner, even though they didn't try everything. I was expecting them to be repelled. Perhaps there is hope for my whole family to join in on a much healthier diet.

    29 days into my 30 day reboot and now down 24 pounds. One more day... :-)

    A group for those interested in not only doing a reboot but using it as a tool to effect serious change in your life. Use this opportunity to kick cravings out, face mental demons, load up on tons of fruits and vegetables and start living the life you always knew you could! I just completed my first 60 day juice only reboot on Thanksgiving (11-28-14) and lost 40lbs!!!! I felt great and still do but am not mentally where I want to be with food yet and physically still need to lose about 40lbs. So, I enjoyed my month after Thanksgiving to Christmas eating a mostly vegan diet and am ready to kick off another 60 day juice reboot. All are welcome, newbies and veterans alike, and although I am doing juice only and hope others will join me, all rebooters are welcome whether you juice only or don't or if it is for 60 days or 3. Let's join together and encourage one another to freedom!!!!
