  • About: I'm 31. I'm a very happy person, but I know I'm about to be even happier.
  • Why I've Joined Reboot with Joe: I'm on the escalator to bad health. I'm currently at least 150 pounds overweight, unable to conceive children, and a bunch of other minor stuff is starting to pile on. I'm not on any medications and I don't want to have to be but if I don't get control of my health soon it's going to get a lot worse.

I decided maybe I should start logging the specifics of my journey right here on my wall since I just realized that's possible. I'm 31 years old, in the first year of my marriage and I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. While I am not currently being medicated for any chronic illnesses I know it's only a matter of time until the words "diabetes", "Heart disease", "high cholesterol" or something even worse pop up. Watching Joe reboot his life was such a hit to me. I've tried many different ways to lose weight in the past and always given up. I successfully dropped a significant amount 5 years ago and I've almost doubled back what I lost then. I've come to a staggering 280 on my petite 5'2" frame and things are starting to become wrong. I've got aches and pains. My hormones are completely out of whack to the point where I can not conceive children right now (and I don't want to spend my life on drugs trying to fight my body). Because of my hormonal issues I'm insulin resistant, I have selective alopecia, I don't ovulate, and I gain weight incredibly easily while finding it incredibly difficult to drop weight.

All around me is a culture that offers me an unending supply of the things I love to eat that will make me more obese and an unending supply of people trying to sell me something to get less obese. Well I just decided that the only thing I'm buying is health from now on. No more miracle pills or weight loss packaged foods. No more fancy diet plans or special shakes. Just whole, real food, with as little processing as possible. And to start it all...just juice for as long as I can.

I began my new journey on May 8th by introducing a juice or two a day for a few days. I was 280 pounds when I started and after a couple days there really hadn't been much change. I decided to juice all day and only supplement food for supper and a snack here and there. The weight started to come off. On May 13th I decided to do one last day where I drank all the juice I would normally get (aside from the evening dessert) plus the broth of my vegetable borscht (soup) that I'd been eating that week.

Yesterday, May 14th was my first day following the complete juice fast recommendations set out on the reboot website. It was tough. I got hungry at night, but I made it through and I'm so happy I did because this morning I woke up to 11 pounds down. I'm now sitting at 269. Unfortunately I've got a really, REALLY long way to go, but I'm excited at the possibilities there are for me.
