  • About: Entrepreneur, RN, Roller Derby Diva, Obese
  • Why I've Joined Reboot with Joe: I guess you could say I am a little selfish (okay you can say I am a lot selfish) !!! In my alter persona I am a Roller Derby girl and I am into all things Derby, Burlesque, Gypsy, etc... I am totally in love with the culture... but I am an obese girl and that holds me back not only physically but psychologically as well. I would love to lose this weight so that I could star in my very own Roller Derby Boudoir :-) I am 44 years old and think it would be awesome to have these done (especially at my age). Not to mention I want to wear all those cute Derby outfits without worrying about how bad I look (lol). Plus losing this excess weight will allow me to be more active and enjoy the things that I really love doing like kayaking, hula hooping, kiting, going to the Lake, etc. I am so excited to see where I will be at 30 days and even 60 days... Oh yea and I can't wait to give away my now skinny jeans (as my fat jeans) !!!

    WARNING FOOD TALK

Day 4 of reboot 11.5 lb lose

That sounds wonderful and glorious and trust me I loved seeing this lose on the scale this morning!

But then as my morning progressed I developed a headache and became very tired. I ended up sleeping until after 1pm. Finally I forced myself out of bed...

However, during the day I ended up doing a big no-no actually three no-no's! First I decided to have a small amount of sauerkraut and that wasn't so bad but then I followed that up with a cup of corn and then I ended up having a cup of chili with crackers. I'm upset and disappointed with myself after the fact (of course).

But I have really been contemplating on why this happened... and what I realize is that I was not drinking my correct amount of juice per day. You see I haven't really found a mix that I like, and so it was easy for me to just skip the juice. I believe this is the reason why I was so tired and had a headache.

Now I could easily throw in the towel and forget about this whole juice thing.... but I AM NOT... instead I will call today both a failure and a success. A failure in the fact that I detoured from my original plan but a success in the fact that I want this... that I have MY resolve back.

It's really hard in the initial week, I feel for you. The urge to chew is one thing that you can attack to stop the sabotage. Just chewing gum made a HUGE difference to my resolve in that first week. You might also be just in the throes of detox, so keep up the water and increase the juice. In my first week I drank juice whenever I felt the urge to eat, which was up to 5 juices per day. I felt so much better in week 2. This past week has been the most troublesome for me as far as will power goes. My grandson's birthday party, my son's 21st and of course, being in week 3 going on week 4 - I am plateauing and feeling sensitive. But you and I both know we are stronger than this and WILL get there if we just keep on. Don't whip yourself, in perspective it was just one little hiccup in an otherwise great start. You got this, Juicymomma!

I am starting to realize that in this particular time in my life that Facebook is NOT my friend... so many people share recipes and photo's of what they are eating (bad stuff).

I think we should ban all those types of pics. (lol)

Or you can post photos of your juicer and juices? I tell you, once you drop a couple of sizes (I was an Australian size16-18, now a 12 enroute to 10) people become interested in what you are up to.

Good on you! Day two means that you might start to get into detox shortly - slimy tongue, aching limbs, headaches and such. It might last a couple of days so just drink the juices and of course heaps of water to keep flushing your system. Once you are out the other side you will feel amazing, so it's totally worth a couple of inconvenient "blah" days. What's you BMI at the moment? My BMI is at 27 today, so mid-range overweight, whereas I started in the obese category 25 days ago. You can see on my profile (in the photo section) how much I have lost and where I am heading to (the goal dress is in reach now!). Something about black velvet and lace dresses that keep me on track!

Today I had the yuckiest juice possible... celery, beets and cucumbers with a tangerine (super yuck)!!!

But, I am so happy to report that I am on day 2 of 60 and I made it through day 1... the scales reported a 3.4 weight loss... which is wonderful but I am so leery of those scales... they love to go up and down on me (lol).

I wish everyone the best of luck.

Let's start spring with a swift kick and do a reboot for the month of April. Our group began in March; some started and some left...but many stayed. This group is for anyone who wants to do a full juice fast. That means no solids are eaten OR talked about. If you feel that you need to be eating while juicing, there are other groups that have that as their focus. If you slip while on your reboot, just tell us that you slipped without going into specifics...and continue on. "Start by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible. Suddenly you're doing the impossible." St. Francis of Assisi
