  • About: I'm a 100% disabled Veteran, and currently attending College to become an Human Resource Manager. I have a Wife, 5 kids, and a kitty cat named Jinx.
  • Why I've Joined Reboot with Joe: My wife and i have been telling each other that we need to lose weight. At first I didn't take it to seriously, but once I hit 40, my body changed I gained a ton of weight, was feeling sick all the time, didn't want to do anything, I am so out of shape that just taking groceries in to the house winded me, and doing simple things like emptying the dishwasher was killing my back, I love to golf with my youngest son and can't do that because I throw out my back, basically I was becoming extremely lazy, and realized that my back and knees hurt all the time that i decided to take another shot at a diet that I could live with. I've watched the Documentary that Joe did and became extremely interested, so i had my wife watch it as well, then we started to watch other documentaries about food and how much junk we are putting in our bodies. So after watching the Documentaries we got the book "Reboot with Joe". The reason we decided on this diet is because I LOVE JUICE any kind of juice, and knew this could be a great way to change my lifestyle. Today is Jun 13th, 2014. I weigh 262lbs and Have drank my first Mean Green Juice this Morning.
  • Favorite Juice? Not sure yet only tried Mean Green so far

Hi John! I totally hear you with the back and the knees. I have found that the elliptical, exercise bike and swimming to be very good for me. I also work on strength training. Strengthening your abs will help your back. When I started training a year ago I could not do one single situp...not one. (Now I can do 50, but it did not come overnight.) I also did a mini triathlon and a mud run last year...big progress for this 50+ year old woman.

I was still hanging onto too many bad habits...big steaks with baked potatoes and a couple glasses of wine, fast food etc. so the weight was not coming off. I am also in for 28 days and am on day 9 now...it gets better every day. I have found that just walking is very hard on my knees, but the bike is okay, as is the elliptical.

Keep looking at those kids every time you are tempted. Remember how much you want to be healthier. I wish you and your wife well on this journey.

This group is inspired by all the amazing people I have met in this community who, like me, have or had 100 lbs or more to lose when starting this journey with our wonderful Joe Cross:) There are special challenges in this world for those of us who are "morbidly obese" and there are some incredibly inspirational people around here conquering those challenges every day. Come be inspired and inspiring!
