  • About: I'm such a fun loving woman. I'm also doing things for others. But I have recently discovered that I need to start doing things for myself. I say it's way past time to put me first, after all I'll be 51 in 2 months! So, this is my year. I need to do this.
  • Why I've Joined Reboot with Joe: My youngest son who is 27 told me that I needed to get control of my weight because he didn't want to lose me. He asked me to watch Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. I did & it was a huge eye opener. My husband also recently found out he has type 2 diabetes. It runs in his family. It also runs in mind & my blood sugar is higher than it should be, but I am not a diabetic, yet. I don't want to be. So I need to take control of this body & change it before I do become one.

Denise, I have been thinking about you. I did read more about the Reboot on the weekend and there is a recommendation to see a physician if you begin to vomit. I am hoping that because you are still responding to posts that you are either saw your doctor or are feeling better.

Reading your about and bio absolutely hit home with me. My mother is in her early sixties and spent her entire life pouring herself out for everyone else. She never took a moment for herself. This lead to high blood pressure from stress and bad eating habits. It's hard to eat right when you're working two jobs and raising two kids. Two years ago she had a stroke and now has mild paralysis and weakness in her left side. At Vanderbilt they discovered that strokes and hardening of the arteries in head and neck run in our family. I know how hard it has been on me and my sister and her three children to pick up the pieces and try to get our family in a better place. My father has early onset Alzheimer's so were struggling with that as well. I have a three year old son who I cannot even play with because I am so overweight that I get out of breath, my joints ache and my ankles and knees are shot. This is no life for me, and my son and husband deserve much more out of me. I feel like you can understand what's going on in my heart because it's probably very similar to what's going on in yours. You have a son who is a blessing and he loves his mama which is beautiful. Let's get our selves healthy so we can be there for our boys and hopefully be rockin' grammas. I feel so blessed to be on this journey with such a wonderful lady!

So happy you have taken the path we have, although we My Wife and I, just started yesterday and I have to tell you it was a really rough start. We are here to support anyone in during their journey to be healthy!

Can you tell us how your first day went? We started of with a headache later feeling uncomfortable, reading Joe's book we took his advice and went to bed early. During the night like never before in my life I went to the bathroom about five times, but it was not number two, I did number one I don't know where all that liquid come from. Oh and twice I felt very light headed as though I were going to faint. I guess it's working, what a rough start. By the end of the day we really felt awful LOL!!
