    June 8 2015 - Reboot Day 23, Juice Only Day 16 - 11:14 pm

The day started with my blood pressure and pulse at awake 115/73 and 67 bps. I have never measured my heart beat at below 80 in the last 5 years. This is quite a significant change. Furthermore, my blood pressure appears to be in good control without taking any Bissoporol or Ramipril in the last 24 hours. I am going to see what happens tomorrow morning.

I had a troubling exchange with Judy Wilson, Nurse Practitioner at Healthy Heart Clinic at St. Paul's Hospital, this afternoon. I complained about the side effects since last Wednesday of excessive dizziness and even fainting spells. She seemed to dismiss that as minor inconvenience over what the beta-blocker purpose of "protecting" my heart. I don't get it. I will consult with Dr. Hii and make an appointment to see a functional medicine MD in the next couple of days.

My blood sugar is getting to be in very good ranges and the spikings throughout the day appear to be minimal in comparison to the last couple of months. I think the exercise and nutrition have contributed significantly to this cause. I definitely need to work on a sustainable path in the next month and a half. I need to learn to cook vegan in a joyful way so that it will last. Plant Strong and Thrive!

Day 22, Juice Only Day 15 7:40am -- so far so good. Blood glucose in good control. Keeping up with movement 10,000 plus steps every day. Fainting side effect from Ramipril and Bisoprolol adjustments, so reduced it back to 1.25mg and 5mg, respectively..

Hi Chu, things are going great! So far I have been able to follow the meals to a tee. The squash with sage stuffing tasted great! Thanks for the tip on the apples, I never realized how expensive vegetables are. Thanks for the support.

Day 16 5:00 pm - Good day, so far. Stuck to drinking plan until coming home from Downtown at about 4:00 pm. I ate some seaweed, crackers w/antipastos, mixed nuts with apple-carrot-ginger juice. Hopefully, that will be as far as I will deviate from juice only day today. I've already exceed 11,000 steps today - kind of cloudy and periodic shower. That is why I got home earlier today than planned.

Day 15 9:45 pm - Finally able to poo at about 8:00 pm and went for a walk with Ruby to get my daily steps to over 15,000. It was still a mystery how I could have been so constipated. I wondered if I need to drink more fluid or take more fiber.

Day 15 6:00pm - Good day so far, but having constipation issue for the first time since the Reboot started 2 weeks ago. I took some Metamuisel...hopefully it will help. Yesterday, Ruby drove me to pre-40th MRSS Class Reunion, did pretty good until coming home. Patricia made a beef roast, I had a couple of baby potatoes and about 1 oz of beef. It tasted so good, but surprisingly I did not want to eat anymore. With age, wisdom, with wisdom, vegan.

Day 13 late afternoon - I am going to set a record for steps today. I am already at 20,523 and it is only 5:20pm. Started with a Gentle Hatha class with Jason, then went to the Y for some weight training and then took a walk in Downtown Vancouver and walk around Stanley Park. It was a gloriously beautiful sunny warm day. When I got to 3rd Beach, I tried to stay in the shades for the rest of the walk to Davies and Denman to catch the bus home.

One thing that I noticed was how sweet the strawberry smoothie was that I bought at Lumberman's Arch. The Juice Reboot is tuning my taste palette to be more sensitive to sweets. That is a good thing. Instead of buying another smoothie, I bought some apricot and nectarine just before I got on the bus at Davies and Denman. They tasted much better than the smoothie I had.

Today marks 10 day in a row that I have walked over 10,000 steps. As a matter of fact, my average for the last 10 days is over 13,628 steps per day! Today, I will set a record of probably over 21,000...easily.

Day 12 Evening - The day has many hours when the juices are already made in the fridge. The day started great and finished great, but there were bumps in the afternoon. I stuck to the plan in the morning, taking 2 juices with me to the office and 1 bottle of chia coconut water. However after I came home in the early afternoon, I went on an eating binge - 1 cup of blueberries, some strawberries, green detox soup leftover, couple of handfuls of mixed nuts, a cupful of roasted potatoes w/ onion and red peppers and some tortilla chips. I noticed having a pimple in the late afternoon, probably from eating too much nuts in the last couple of days. My blood sugar was 6.8 before going for a walk with Ruby at 8:00pm and was down to 5.2 after geeing home with almost 10,000 steps. All in all, I did over 12,000 steps today - making it 9 days in a row of exceeding my goal of minimum 10,000 steps per day. I lowered my diabetic medication the last couple of days to 500mg Metformin X2 and 0.6 unit of Victorza per day. My blood sugar is in much better control since the reboot 12 days ago.

Day 11 morning - a new day and a new beginning. Started the day juicing about 5 liters of juice. It took over 1 hour and I missed the morning yoga class. Day 10 evening - the day started great, but fell off the wagon in the late afternoon. I ran out of juice so ate some nut mix including cashew, almond, walnut, cranrasins, chickpeas and dark chocolate chips - about 120 grams (500 calories). For dinner, I felt really cold so I made vegetable detox soup instead of juice. Going for a walk with my wife help me feel much better. My blood sugar after the walk at about 8:30pm was 4.9 mmol/litre. That made it 7 days in a row that I walk over 10,000 steps! I am feeling much better than 10 days ago.
