  • About: I am a middle-aged, caucasian male. I am an Assistant Professor of English at 4-year university in Tokyo. I have been a teacher for close to 30 years. Teaching is a healthy profession, requiring a lot of standing! I have been a pescetarian for over 25 years, and live what I feel to be a healthy lifestyle. Living in Japan helps me do that. I do not drive nor own a motor vehicle; I walk, ride my bicycle or take public transportation. I do not watch TV. I do not smoke nor drink excessively. The picture of health? Not exactly...
  • Why I've Joined Reboot with Joe: I love sweets, cheeses, and breads. They have always been my greatest weaknesses in terms of food, and I do enjoy them. Over the years my weight has steadily increased, and I contribute the gain to these culprits and to eating too much of them. Of course the weight gain is my responsibility, not the food. I want to make that clear. But I feel by giving myself a reason to take a break from my "comfort foods" I will be able to position myself to slide into my 50s in better shape than I have been for the better part of my 40s. I turn 51 in the summer of 2016.

The journey has begun, Feb.16, 2015. I did my first weigh-in and I am heavier than I thought. I am 138 kg. (304 pounds)! My goal therefore is to loose 38 kg (about 84 lbs.). That will bring me down to a healthy 100 kg (or about 220 lbs.). I guess over the years I have let my over-average height (193 cm/6'-3") hide my weight, but the scale doesn't lie, and neither does my waistline (40")! So off I go on a 2-month juice journey. This morning I made myself a Mean Green from the kale delivered yesterday (it came a day late) from and it is surprisingly delicious and satisfying. I have decided to make a compost pile using the dregs of each and every juice I make. And off on a beach walk, I go! It's a beautiful day to start a 60-day juice fast!

A four-kilo delivery of organic kale will be delivered to our door on Valentine's Day, 2015 from this outfit: I will indulge in one last binge (of chocolate) before starting a 60-day juice fast.

Hello, I am "Big Mike" as I am called in town, and I have finally started my 2-month long juice journey, starting February 16 to April 16, 2015. I could not find a group in Japan, so I thought I would start my own. If you are living in Japan (or even if you are not), and would like to join me, welcome! What I hope to offer by starting this group is of course to motivate others on their own juice journeys, and be motivated by fellow members, and to share valuable information on how to get the best bulk fruit and vegetables Japan has to offer, particularly staples such as kale and apples. (Organic kale, delivered to your doorstep, can be purchased here: Again, welcome to Japan Juice Journey! -- Big Mike

Calling out to anyone who would like to join us in losing those extra pounds, keeping it off and celebrating this life like you have always dreamed of. You will find this group very approachable & friendly (most importantly non judgmental and supportive) with many veteran juicers as well as newbies, all in it together...juicing our way to good health and happiness! Here at Sunshine Clubbe we consider this a journey for life, not just another "diet plan" which will end one day. We are working towards a lifestyle change, so that we do not go back to our old eating habits and put back all the lost weight. We Sunshiners believe in spreading and peace. We know we can do it. Lets do it together!!!

A site just for men - how non-PC!! But truth be told, we men have different challenges -not only how we deal with them and but how we share them with each other. Let's face it, we guys are wired just a little bit differently! Feel free to join this group as we journey through our individual juicing stories and share a few laughs along the way. Community support is key to the success of what we're doing!
