  • About: I'm an easy-going, creative person who spends far too much time sitting at a desk and misses being more active. Over the past four or five years I've gained a fair amount of weight I would like to rid myself of. I'm not overly fond of cooking every day and love clean, fresh food, so I think this way of eating is right for me.
  • Why I've Joined Reboot with Joe: I joined because I loved the movie, think the book is a great companion to it, believe in this whole process and am totally inspired and impressed by everyone here and their accomplishments. I also think the support would be of great help.
  • Favorite Juice? Anything with fruits and veggies really

Hi Terry! Great to hear from you :)

I'm still doing the occasional juice but need to start a reboot again. You're looking awesome!! I see a HUGE difference from the very first video you posted months ago to now. You've lost weight, your skin looks good and best of all you look like you have renewed energy and happiness.

I don't think I sent this to you before but since you're such a big Blondie fan you may like it... she's from Hamilton which is about 30 minutes away from me.

This had gone viral on Facebook, enjoy!

I'll keep coming back and start upping my juicing... thanks for the encouragement.

    Hugs,
    Amy

Hi Terry! Sorry for the delay, I've been busy with client meetings and away from the computer a fair bit. You're looking really good in your videos, your whole aura has changed and it's been an awesome ride to watch unfold on the other side of the world :)

I'm going to do another 15 day reboot on my own after this one but this time I'm going to get my sister and her husband to help me and videotape parts of it. He's a chef and she's a pastry chef. I'm going to give them the sheets to look over, have both of them give a list of how they would: shop for the items, organize them once they got home, show how they would peel/cut each item, show the most efficient way of making each recipe and how to bottle and refrigerate/freeze each. They're very knowledgeable and I think the video would be a huge help to anyone unfamiliar or unpractised in the kitchen. I've never been great at doing all that stuff and I need it as much as anyone else.

I'll write more a bit later... my son is bugging me to take him to pick up his cheque and go to the bank. Have a great day!!

On the subject of cabbage: can you taste it?

Lots of varieties out there...i would say you are on safe ground with pointed cabbage, which is very sweet, & red cabbage...but only use a wedge..dont go overboard...

But...if you cant stand the smell...a different matter entirely...i would sidestep it...

Bok choi/pak choi etc equally, if not more, juicy & nutritious

I dont kick around with kale too much either. I dont mind the taste, but the smell once its juiced makes me gag! I tried to use a long straw but there was still that collision of smell & taste, so i limit my use of it. Plenty of other greens to be had....that are kinder to our juicers. I use alot of rainbow chard & spinach, collards, nero! Envy your broccoli...dont like it in a juice at all!

We do lots of blind tastings to make sure i really dont like what i believe i dont like!!

Apples - to core or not to core? If you are eating lots of organic apples, you should probably core the apple. If your apples arent organic, i wouldnt worry...there is probably zilch cyanide.

    Grapes...yes remove from stems...

Hope its going well for you

Thanks for all of the info tortoise not hare! I'll give bok choi a go and see how it works out. I found that kale kind of went right through me and if I had too much of it I felt like I had gone into shock and would need to lie down and sleep... very strange. I had the same feeling when I had a juice from a juice bar here. It was full of veggies and I think it's a bit overpowering for me sometimes... maybe it's a really strong allergy.

I didn't know there was cyanide in apple cores and from now on I'll take the grapes off of the stems ;)

For the most part it's going well... I've juiced off and on for the past year and love it, just haven't been consistent. I haven't been completely consistent with this either but I'll just keep doing it over until I get it right. I did have some cashews the other day and salad with chicken... felt like I was fading and thought I needed food. I probably should have just taken a nap.

    How's it going for you?

I have been juicing for about 18 months...i have just juiced a few times, and am on a mini just juice at the mo...but i found that my first 2 week reboot was enough to kickstart some changes so havent needed to do anything more radical. I never followed the reboot to the letter...i adhered more or less to the 80 veg / 20 fruit but made up my own juices/ used multiple sources.

Foodwise - i havent eaten meat for 18 months, or had caffeine or dairy..but i enjoy alot of fish. I get 90% of my fruit n veg from juicing.

Your chicken, nuts & salad sounds very healthy & not worthy of admonishment...

We do lose perspective a bit...if you'd said a rack of ribs, family pack of dorritos & a bottle of soda....now that'd be different!

Cyanide is in the pips...tho not remotely potent in non organic apples...

Hi all. Terry has inspired me to upload some videos too... as I get more comfortable with it I'll try to put more of me in it... not feeling overly comfortable with seeing myself in a video yet, my profile pic was before I gained 100 lbs. and is my inspiration to losing at least that much. I'm going to get out of the house everyday and make videos of it because I work at home and sit on my a** most of the time in front of a computer... this will MAKE me get out and be active.

Here's a bunch I did today... the last one is a continuation of the one before it, somehow it stopped before I was done.
