  • About: I am trying to put more of a positive spin on my life. I have done a lot of work to improve my outlook on life and now my health is my next priority. I have been in a car accident that left me in lots of joint pain and surgeries. I have struggled with my weight as well. I am not sure if they go hand in hand but I was not big as a child or teen although I used food and other substances to deal with life. After I turned 30 my body really hurt from all the joint issues I had and I dealt with it by eating. Now I am in my 40's and still eating to deal with life. I am sick of being in pain. I am tired of looking in the mirror and seeing an out of shape, sick person. I am ready to get to the bottom of my weight issues.
  • Why I've Joined Reboot with Joe: I am starting over. it has been over a year since I saw Fat Sick and Nearly Dead and did my first juice fast. i just saw FSND 2 and I am ready to do this again. I have to start slow because of stomach issues but I have faith that I can do this. I know it is not easy. Eating what ever kind of food I want is easy. Making choices is more difficult. I am not looking for just a slimmer me but a healthy me. I love Joe. He is such an inspiration to me and many others. He really seems genuine in that he wants to help others. He is a wonderful teacher. :) So juice on brothers & sisters. 3/22/2015 Weight 250lbs.

Hi Alicia......I had a feeling you might be struggling. It is ok. But, why not ease in a bit. Why not, do what your doing, juice morning, lunch and plan to have a dinner, but how about a healthy salad, soup. Then you won't beat your self up. Do, this for 1 week, maybe 2 weeks. But, you have to be strong and stricter on this. Dinner is not a salad, with loads of unhealthy items, and dressing. In my mind, Any day you do juicing is a positive day, even if it is not all day.

It does, get easier and harder. What do I mean?

I am on day 27 - for my first 30 day and you day 5 of my second 30 day. Laugh, does that make sense!! It is easier in that I have a routine. I don't have to think - what am I going to cook. I just know, immediately start juicing. If I get a juice in me - I feel food, and I have the energy to fight off cravings. So, it is easier that I have understood the routine. It also has gotten easier that, I have been able to be more active in help family cook dinner. I purposely stayed out of the kitchen for the first few days, even though I felt bad. But, now I have slowly eased my way back in to help, when I feel I can handle the temptations.

But, it is harder in that, overtime, you start thinking " I have been doing so good, I could have something else besides juice." So, you brain is the battle now. You think, I haven't had a hot meal for a while.......so the brain likes to play games on you. On this, I have to keep telling myself, the juice is a godsend, giving me such healthy vitamins, that are going to help me get in a much healthier shape.

Well wishing you strength. Check back in with us in a few days, even if you don't do it 100%. But, trying is also something to be applauded!!

Hi Jenn. I'm sorry I went MIA. I was really down on myself and just took a break from trying. I appreciate your positive feedback and kind words. It has been really rough for me. Food is my everything and I am dying because of it. I can't believe what damage I have done to my body for the choices I have made food wise. I'm not beating myself up but I feel angry at the food industry, myself, my husband. Lol. It's the first day of my fast. I'm starting fresh. I am feeling good about it this time. I'm ready to go. I have made juice to get me through the whole day as before I made juice one drink at a time and by the time I got to the juicer I was so hungry and it seemed to take forever to juice so I just grabbed. This time I have cleaned out my fridge and cupboards of all the foods I may want to eat except for my raisin bran. This may sound silly but I am having a difficult time letting it go. It's a half of a box and what if. What if I can't take it anymore and need to eat? No body else in my house likes it but me. I just had to tell someone because it's been really bugging me. Why can't I throw it away. The real question is why don't I want to? Anyway, I am feeling ok, my back really hurts and my legs hurt. Besides that I'm okay. You mentioned that in a few days I will be able to return to the kitchen to cook meals for my family? I feel badly about that but I need to take care of me. My husband is pretty good in the kitchen anyway. :) Do you mind if I ask you a couple of questions? I was wondering if you work out? I am trying to walk in place for at least 10 minutes and ride my exercise bike for 20. It's really not a hard workout but it moves my body. Also, I was wondering, what do you eat when your not juicing? Are you totally vegan? If you have already told me before I apologize for asking again. I don't recall. Anyway, thank you so much for being there for me. It means a lot. Take care.

    Hey Alicia,

Just checking in with you. How are you doing? Any hiccups yet on your juicing? Don't worry if your not perfect. Just keep forging ahead. And any meal you juice, is a good meal!! And try to make the meal you do it, if you eat, perhaps soups that they have hear on the recipe board. Wow, I tried them before my reboot, and super delicious, especially the Thai Squash!! Well just sending you positive vibes!!!

ugh, I'm not doing too great Jenn. I'm feeling a bit frustrated but I really like what you said, "any meal you juice is a good meal." That puts a postive spin on it. I have not gotten in a full day of juicing yet. I am going to start again tomorrow. I am juicing most all day except at night something goes haywire and I end up caving in and grabbing a bit of this or that. I really need to do this. The soups sounds delicious. I love squash. Yum. Does it get easier as the time goes on? The hunger that is? I have heard some differn't things. Some say the hunger never goes away and some have said the hunger goes away after a few days. Is this true? How are you doing? Are you on day 22? Take care. Thanks for stopping in. :)

Hey Alicia - We go to the south Portland and surrounding area. Love it. I am down here in the NYC - but used to be in CT as well. So know the east coast pretty good. I am new to juicing, but am completing a 21 day reboot. I did nothing but juice, but the only modification, is at night I have homemade veggie broth, that I make from the pulp of my juice. It still counts, I am not adding anything into it, everything I use is what is juiced. I like it especially at night it is sort of soothing. So, since you are just starting - my major tip - the first week, and maybe second week, you will be on a high! It is new, then you might find the next week tougher. Plan in advance. Get a routine, and just believe in your routine.I get my husbands help at night, when I feel weakest. He will cut all the veggies, then I just have to juice them. It is not an every day thing, but when I am tired - I have been looking him in the eyes and saying, "help" and he knows and immediately jumps in. So if you have any questions, ask away or make sure to read all the links on here. It seems every question I had, I found answer because it is such an open forum, people had already asked.

    Juice on!! - Jenn

Thanks Jenn. Wow, 21 days. Way to go. I'm on day one and I am feeling so hungry. I am craving everything under the sun. Do you mind if I ask how you are making your broth? You said from the pulp? How do you make it? Sounds yummy right now. :) I live about 30 minutes from South Portland. How neat. NYC? I have always wanted to go there. Never been. I have flown over on my way to other places but would love, love, love to go there. I will one day. My weight has hindered my ability to live my life to the fullest. I am in lots of pain and so embarrassed. I have grown out of most of my cloths including my underware. Sorry if that's too much info but it is very sad and true. I hope I have what it takes to make it through this. You should be proud of your self. That's quite an accomplishment. Take care.

Wow Alicia, the sincerity and authentic nature shined through in that post! I wish you nothing but success. Lets support each other. I often feel the same way, look in the mirror and say why not me. Well, I have learned, and am learning, it is only me that is going to make the change. One juice at a time, one step at a time!! BTW, love Maine!!! Go there often.
