Just want to say a quick hello. I have joined this group- plan to post here actively when my food and juice weight loss reboot phase is over so that I can continue healthy gradual weight loss and then weight maintenance and health for the rest of my life. The MOUNTAIN of science is shocking: the majority of disease plaguing modern man would be gone with the whole foods plant based diet. I think its criminal that this is not being talked about all day long at every medical school, doctor's office and hospital in the country! I'm all in for life. See you all in a few weeks as a regular poster- plan to also join Dr. Fuhrman's boards and share learning.

What is your favorite juice. We just tried the sweet potato. it was just like sweet potato pie! Yum! I need some green juice suggestions. Just watched fat sick nearly dead...or was that sick fat nearly dead on netflix for the 4th time.... what a motivator. I still need to finish the second. I talked my sister into watching it with me. Good times!

How are you all doing? For those of you who love pasta, but don't wanna mess with your diet: Enoki mushrooms are always a good replacement. Low in calories and carbs. You cut the ends and cook them for 10 to 15 minutes. For the tomato-sauce (1portion) I use 3-4 tomatoes, 1 onion, some asparagus and coconut-milk. Peel the tomatoes and cut into smaller pieces. Cut the onion as small as you like. In a pan roast the asparagus (I cut it in little pieces for that) with just very little butter or vegetable oil. In a different pan braise the onions a little (use only very little butter) before you add the tomatoes. Cook on a lower level. Once the tomates have lost about 2/3 of their liquid you can add some coconut milk until you have the consistency you like. Add the asparagus and pour the sauce over the Enoki mushrooms. Enjoy!

OKAY FIRST NIGHT OF RANGERS BASEBALL I had two hot Dogs But on the plus side I am still around 1200 calories for today and walked a fast for me 2 miles. Our juicer finally arrived. I am excited about juicing and not having to eat the gross sometimes pulp. It can turn a nasty color if you don't get it down quickly. I made the mistake also of not having tomatoes for the bloody marie. I threw in canned rotel and nearly threw up. I did drink it all. It was hot!

it has now been a week of eating "clean" ... 1 - 2 juices a day (ALMOST every day) and a lot of salads with home-made dressings and cooked veggies. only 2 exceptions that i can recall, a chicken stir-fry with noodles, and a tofu stir-fry.

weight loss for this week = 2 lbs.; nowhere near the rapid weight loss that i was used to on juice-only, but 2 lbs. in one week translates into 104 lbs. in 1 year, so clearly i am on the right track. going to log another week of mainly plant-based eating and if i can knock off another 2 lbs. eating the same way i did last week i will be ecstatic.

That is great news, Joe! As long is the scale is going down and not up. How are you feeling about eating this way? What's your favorite salad/dressing?

holly ... i am still new to this Clean Eating thing, but it feels more and more natural as i progress. would still love to hunker down with a loaf of bread, butter and jam, but am slowly starting to feel more satisfied by healthier foods. its also a bit of a challenge learning to steam , bake, or roast food instead of my old favourite, the stir-fry.

bananas, oranges and apples taste like a sinful indulgence now so, clearly, i am making progress.

i have found all my homemade salad dressings to be delicious ... except the one that had a hotter-than-expected pepper in it ... but my go-to recipe is 1 part honey, 1 part oil, 2 parts dijon mustard ... as simple as can be and just as tasty; love it !

weight loss for this week = 0.5 lbs. ... considering that i had 2 - bacon/egg breakfasts, 1 family birthday (pizza) and 1 easter dinner (lamb etc.), i am extremely pleased. back to mostly clean eating this week.
