Today is 8th day after surgery. I am still in a lot of pain. I am trying to cut back on pain meds. I go to the surgeon tomorrow and hopefully doc will take out staples. They sure stick me a lot. My plan to eat clean, has not been as successful as I planned,, but I have to remember that it is progress not perfection. I'm not eating junk food, I still have 2 juices a day, but I am eating some foods with chemicals or preservative. I think that I will find this hardest goals to achieve. My relationship to food has changed, after a 34 day juice only fast. But other than the pain and inconvenience of surgery, I have not experienced the food compulsion that had led me to binges. Hope everyone is well

I started my 4th day today, starting weight was 171.2 I am down 5 pounds. I have not totally eliminated coffee yet, I drink a half a cup in the morning, but seem to be drinking less each day. I did not go cold turkey on coffee since I suffer from frequent headaches and I didn't want to exacerbate them.

Some of the things I have noticed is my increased energy and my skin feels tighter. I was planning a 5 day fast, but I think I am going to go longer. I have using the scraps from the juicer (veg only) to make vegetable broth. Having something warm is nice change. I have not been hungry, but find I am craving refried beans, go figure.

Reporting my weigh-in: I lost 17 lbs in January. I did not Juice Only every day and some days I did not stick to plantbased only, especially at the beginning of January. I have the ball rolling again and have the month of February to keep juicing as best I can. :) My goal for February is to lose 18 pounds for a total of 35 lbs lost so far in 2016.

This is what I learned about freezing juices.

    1. do not fill the juice up to the top of the jar. My first attempt at freezing, I found that the jar was shattered because the juice had no place to go. Another jar, it dented and popped the lid off.

    2. Do not tighten the lids. Leave them a little loose in case you put too much in.

    3. Be sure to use real mason jars. They are made for freezing.

    4. If you defrost them in the fridge, it takes 3 days to defrost.

Just juiced most of the produce, because it would get bad before I get home from the hospital. I wished someone lived closer to me, I could share some of the juice that I probably wont get to in 7 to 10 days. Since I will be on clear liquids for the next 5 days, I still won't be eating any solid food yet. Since today is my last day of full juicing and day 34. Tomorrow I will weigh at the gym and I will know the total before surgery. Juice on!!

Weigh-in: Yesterday I was down another pound and today I was down .4 lbs bringing my total to 16.8 gone for January. It would be great if I can be down .2 tomorrow to make the nice round number of 17lbs. I am now the lowest I have been in about 10 years and I can feel the difference!

day 4 of 30 .. I just had the most awesome juice. I have never had this particular juice before. from time to time i go back to the Reboot with joe book (the first book) to read something when i need to or have questions. so i found the carrot cake juice. page 113 OMG it is so delicious... if you have not tried it I recommend trying it.

only takes 2 sweet potatoes and 4 carrots and 2 red apples.. (i have learned the apples make the juice smooth) and on top of the juice just before you drink it put some cinnamon.

if this is what speices can do for a juice... then here i come.

    keep on juicing.

At weigh-in today I was down .6 which means I am closer today than I was yesterday to my overall goal.

Warning; this next paragraph mentions food which isn't plant-based. Sorry.

I also am giving myself a pat on the back today for a challenge I got through yesterday. After my swimming class yesterday I went out for coffee with 5 other ladies. Two of them were celebrating their birthdays. All 5 of them had lemon meringue pie. Did I? Nope, I stayed strong even though I got the usual, "One piece won't hurt you." chant. They understood when I said I was under my surgeon's orders to lose weight before I see him again in June. At the end I decided to get pleasure from bringing home a piece of pie for my husband which he enjoyed with our tea! (I can't believe how strong I was!)

Day 28, my last day will be Saturday, I plan on celebrating by taking my doxie out for a jog at the beach and then stocking up my fridge with fresh veggies! I haven't weighed myself since day 25 but I started at a size 8 jeans and am now wearing size 6 jeans which are already becoming too big so thats always great!

Hi all day 24 and down a total of 17lbs think I will keep going to the end of February. Has any one tried the nutri-bullet instead of juicing thinking of mixing it up a bit

Hi Paddy, The nutri-bullet is quick and easy and way less trouble to clean but just remember you will be drinking the fibre that you don't normally have with the juicer. I say it is good to have variety as we get further into juicing. I sometimes use the nutri-bullet for fruits and vegs. and add coconut water, lemon juice or grapefruit juice. I use a large electric juice squeezer to get the juice from the lemon and the grapefruit which works like a charm. Losing 17 lbs in 24 days is terrific!

I had a Nutribullet, it lasted all of about 3wks, sadly the wife bought it for me as a surprise, I wished I had of known as I'd read the reviews on it and they weren't great, lots of unhappy customers, my sisters was fine, mine had trouble with getting the container back out of the machine (common problem apparently) no matter what we tried it just won't budge, so the whole lot went straight in the bin!

I went and bought some other cheap thing for $30 and haven't looked back LOL
