HI...just joined your group. Look forward to sharing ideas and the camaraderie of the group. I completed a 60+ day pure juice fast...I was dairy, processed food, all white foods, and caffeine free for a year...then stuck with mostly raw as I transitioned back into 1 protein meal a day...I've dropped my guard...and by not reading labels, playing with foods that zap my clarity...I'm in the prejuice fog! Today, I've started a juice-only detox. A 15 day detox seems like a good number for me and when I hit day 15, if it was like my original detox, I'll keep on going. I do like the ease of juicing and of not having to think about food/meals. Over the past couple of months I'm acutely aware that I still operate from emotional trigger eating...gonna nip that in the bud this time :) So there you have it for now...cheers all!

Feast or Famine~ Re: Salad dressing.....

My absolute favorite is: Bolthouse FARMS - MISO GINGER - VINAIGRETTE DRESSING @ 40 Calories per serving.... & 78% Less Fat. (not fat free)

FAT FREE CHOICE: Panera BREAD - Fat Free - Low Calorie - Low Sodium - RASPBERRY Dressing.... @ 20 Calories per serving. (100% fat free) Sorry, if these are only in USA, not sure if in IRELAND...... But you do need "some" good fats, so might as well get them from salad dressing as from other foods.... My motta...LOL

Hey Feat! I meant to post this the other day, but I was on the phone and you know...difficulties. This website has a ton of 'fat free' (plant based derived fats) salad dressings http://fatfreevegan.com/blog/category/dressings/. Avocado...mango...as BB says Miso, roasted bell pepper, carrots and ginger are great salad dressing bases. Carrots, ginger, miso, onion, garlic, rice wine vinegar (or whatever acid you want to add)...dressing combo right there. I also like Mango, avocado, cilantro, garlic, onion (plus vinegar or lime juice). Avocado and basil is awesome as well. Soaked Chia seeds and cashews also add a creamy thickness...if you wanted to go for a ranch dressing etc with a plant based milk and whatever herbs (garlic) you choose. I feel like I am droning on and on here. I will stop. I like-a-the food. Hope this helps.

The best option for salad dressing (if you don't want to make one yourself), is simply just using olive oil, a little lemon juice and apple cider vinegar. You avoid all the chemicals that are used in "low or fat" free dressings. Good Luck! :)

hiya Feast or Famine... other day I made a quick salad for our end of year party at work... all scoffed the salad down oohing and ahhing. You know my secret ingredient? Simply it was one orange and one lime squeezed over mainly salad vedge mixed with apple and blueberries topped with basil. Wella! And, what was left over I came home and juiced!

    suggestions?! Boy do I!!

Variety in foods is a biggie. I always make sure to get something or several somethings that I didn't have the week before. I alternate having this one day, that the next. I stay away from bread, but eat grains, i.e brown rice, quinoa, millet, farrow, sometimes potatoes, white or sweet, again keeping a variety. When I do eat bread I eat the sprouted grains breads. I also don't eat corn, no refined sugar, no fish, meat, diary, eggs.

Of all those things though the most important is to add variety daily and the staying away from the flour and sugar.

Dr. Joel Furhman (Joe's doc in FSND) says to eat a diet of veggies, beans, fruits, nuts and seeds - he does not recommend grains, dairy, etc - except on very rare special occasions. Not as your daily standard diet. He has reversed hundreds of cases of diabetes with those perimeters and advocates using seeds (chia) in place of grains. NO sugar. You are eating sugar in that honey mustard dressing, salt in the bread (did you know that is where most of us get the majority of our salt - in bread?!!!). Just remember the big five - veggies, beans, fruits, nuts and seeds - and if you choose to eat anything else, eat tiny or not at all - and you'll keep the weight off. I think Joe Cross says he has ice cream once every two weeks. So if you want a steak or something off the primary five, do it once every two weeks. I've found even once a week really is too much. Darn! You can chow down on veggies and fruits -- those are basically unlimited foods. Hope this helps!

Woo Hoo...down 7 pounds as of this morning! :D My body actually craves juice...even the green ones! haha I have found a good mix of juicing and eating, plus sneaking in a little chocolate, that has helped me to lose the weight, feel energized to get my workouts in and just feel better about myself. :)

Hey Teri, please share more about your specific plan. I'd love to know the details.

I'm down to food only, because it's finally Summer here and fresh fruit is now available for a limited time. So I'm making use of that time as I can, and will switch back to juice in the Fall. My diet is mainly whole, raw fruits and veges, fish from a can generally, hard-boiled eggs, protein powder in conjunction with my workouts, and occasionally some other foods but that pretty much sums it up on a daily basis. Boring, but good because I'm always on the go, it lets me snack often, and I hope it will be effective.

Again, I just don't know how you do it, Chris. You're like Superman or something. That's my fav salad in the universe, but I'm counting 600 calories easy with the olives, cheese and oil. Realistically more like 900. I limit myself to 1500 / day, or I gain weight.

I really need your fitness plan! I run every morning, hit the gym for 2 hours of weights 4 times / week, and walk 10 miles per day with a heavy pack. But it's not enough, obviously!

I was eating Greek salad with my juices, but finally took out the olives (too high in sodium) and ditched the feta cheese. Added fava beans and more cucumbers! Tastes even better!

Are you just starting a new exercise program or trying to lose weight? Setting "S.M.A.R.T" goals will help keep you on track and motivated! In my own weight loss success, I found that setting small goals kept me motivated and from feeling overwhelmed during my 75 pound weight loss. Even today I still set "S.M.A.R.T." goals!

Chris, the recipe looks awesome! I've been trying like crazy to think of a good way to eat tuna in water without mayo. I've tried everything and nothing works. Especially as over where I am we have no albacore, only skipjack or some dark variety that's pretty harsh. So far, it's been straight out of the can of salty water. Mmmmmmm. Oh yeah. But the recipe looks awesome.

But I still don't know how you manage to eat all these yummy calories per day and stay thin! Please, man, share your secret! I'm killing myself over here with diet plans, and nothing's worked for me so far. It's really frustrating.

it may not look super pretty...but you could do an avocado mayo. Avocado, a little mustard, and or lemon juice maybe a shallot or basil, or garlic mash then add tuna?
