Is your reboot over or just starting? Do you feel you failed or that you were successful? When it comes down to it, even a single juice is better than never juicing at all. We all have some form of victory under our belts! Even if this is day 1 for you. You are here. Celebrate! Typically the first 3 to 5 days are the worst. Generally the 8 to 10 day window is glorious as that is when the surge of energy hits. After day 10, the real battle begins. - The mental battle: How long can I really go without chewing? How long can I really do this for? The questions, the doubting (from yourself and others), the curiosity all starts to set in. - This is normal. Totally normal. And you are here. Here with me and everyone else. I did my juice nearly alone. You don't need to be alone. Gain support, motivation, encouragement and inspiration from this group! This group is focused on what happens afterwards or what happens if you just can't stomach a juice but still want nutrition and to be healthy? I look at things a bit differently than most. Juicing has given me my life back. My number one focus is getting in nutrition and improving overall health. Calories are important to fuel our bodies, yes. However, empty calories provide no nutrition. I want to fuel my body with highly nutritious calories. This is not a trend or a diet for me, this is my new lifestyle. Without it, I'd still be way fat. Hey guys Im finding it difficult (im not a patient person) to find a happy balance with the eating.. I reached my goal but when I am done juicing I always seem to add a few back and then hang out there. I dont want to juice two meals a day anymore this year is all about eating and maintaining.
I juice breakfast everyday but once a week. I do salad just about everyday. I do lean meats maybe twice a week. No pasta no carbs (unless they are in fruit) no bread none of that stuff. I love smoothies and make them randomly. the snacking is going well we allow ourselves about an ounce of nuts a day. usually almonds or cashews or a combo. not salted or anything like that and all organic.
before when I was between 300 and 250 I found it much easier to drop weight while eating than it is now, I realize the lower you go the more difficult it can be to shed. When I juice I drop it like its nothing! thats good! I just dont want to juice as much this year as I did last year.. was thinking 3-5 days a month tops just to keep things happy ( I do feel great while juicing) Im just looking to get closer to 200 I would love about ten more gone tops.
I know you guys have lost alot like myself and was just looking for some advice.. maybe I am missing something? I can easily over think things and make it harder than it should be :)
Greetings Heather, this is my expertise -- maintaining, sustaining weight loss and never having done an extended reboot juice fast. I have found that combining daily Vegetable Juicing with a Plant-based whole food eating lifestyle has worked for extreme sustained weight loss – the results have been phenomenal. No counting calories, No drowning in minutiae about what to eat or what not to eat. Relax & Enjoy your foods, but just Eat & Drink Plants. I hope others in this group will benefit with the following:
Everything that passes through your mouth could be affecting your goal. You mentioned you eat lean meats.....There are lots of different views on that. A lot of people come to believe that even with the benefits they've gained health and energy-wise from rebooting, meats and animal proteins are just to precious to give up. I definitely used to fall into that category. I was raised a huge meat & dairy eater back in the day, but that coupled with too much junk & processed sugary food addictions led to my obesity and degenerative ailments. The research that I have done has led me to believe that it is very wise to limit meat consumption to 10% or less of your intake once you are ready to maintain weight loss and health, and if you choose to eat animal - stick with fish. Surprisingly, poultry and red meats are the worst for you, along with eggs, milk and cheese. I doubt I will ever get back up to even that high of level of animal proteins, as I just don't miss the meat -- if I do, maybe some salmon or cod.
Nobody gets to decide what your maintenance program will be except you. Stick to your daily juicing as long as you can, as a daily effort and let your body tell you what it needs. There is just no better way to flood your body with nutrient density than with juicing vegetables. Nutrient density will maintain weight loss, sustain weight loss and continue to improve flabby skin and health. Chances are that you, like so many others, will find that your taste buds change during juice fasting so that you truly desire and enjoy the veggies and don't miss the meat as much as you thought you would. When transitioning from heavy meats SAD to GLAD (greens, legumes, anti-oxidants, Daily) I used Dr. Fuhrman's G-BOMBS (greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries, seeds) every day with most meals: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/031612091X?ie=UTF... I used juicing as a tool to overcome those SAD food addictions and move to incorporating LOTs more whole fruits & veggies, whole grains, legumes/beans/peas, raw nuts & seeds into my daily foods. I eat a lot more than I ever did -- on some days over 2500 calories, but they are all plant-based proteins and calories. No need to count calories, No drowning in minutiae about what to eat or what not to eat. Relax & Enjoy your foods, but just Eat & Drink Plants.

and/or read The China Study http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1932100660?ie=UTF... . You need to find your own best maintenance plan. But don't make the mistake of not planning ahead. If you do what you've always done, you'll end up where you've always been and like I have seen with Soooo many others here at reboot with joe, the weight comes back when they return to eating as before.
Not only have I experienced excellent results with continued daily veggie juice, but I also experience excellent sustained weight loss (I still average some weight loss or measurement adjustments every month) when consuming 2-3 glasses of veggie juice and eating plant-based whole-food breakfast, light lunch with a juice, snacks and dinner. I have now lost 150 pounds and my wife has lost 45 (and she wasn’t even trying!).
I did not exercise, except for an evening walk until I had lost 88 pounds. After I lost that much weight I did begin to move more, but I have never done ‘boot camp’ workouts like on ‘the biggest loser’. I lose weight and get in shape by continuing to eat and drink plants.
In 8-10 months of daily vegetable juices – up to 128 oz of vegetable juice per day, and ONE plant-based solid food meal per day (usually a simply soup & salad, or veggie sandwich & salad, or roasted potato/veggies & salad, etc…) I lost 80-90 pounds. When I drank primarily vegetable juice sipped throughout the day and one plant-based whole food meal in the evening with my family I lost an average of 10 pounds per month. If I ate more solid food like oatmeal/fruit for breakfast, sip on 2-3 16oz vegetable juice during the day, snacks of hummus/carrots/nuts, and a bigger plant-based meal in the evening, I would average about 6-7 pounds lost per month. When I drank/drink only 1-2 16 oz veggie juice per day, and eat loads of solid plant-based whole foods, I average about 4-5 pounds lost per month. I am still losing weight, albeit it has slowed a little now. I don’t have too much fat left and I exercise more now than ever before which is building muscle, keeps the weight number pretty much the same, but the measuring tape and clothing size has greatly altered. The loose skin is firming up which I attribute to plant-based whole foods. During this 1-1/2 years ALL the symptoms I had experienced with sleep apnea, sexual dysfunction, migraines, edema, skin rashes, etc…cleared up and were alleviated fairly quickly and have never returned.

I find that I get really hungry and/or my stomach burns when I juice. It doesn't happen consistently. Are there certain juice ingredients or recipes that help you to feel fuller? And are some veggies more acidic than others?
inspired - if you are feeling hungry then you need to drink more rainbow/green juice. the concept is to overcome digestive distress and feeling full is nothing more than satiety from refined carbs or high fats. You should feel lighter and cleaner as opposed to sluggish and full. However, if you want you can add Chia seed/Hempseed/spirulina/ Maca to your juice, but that somewhat defeats the purpose of drinking a freshly extracted veggie juice in order to lose weight. Many will continue with juicing/blending/smoothies and add the above because they are treating the beverage as a meal vs. a reboot juice feast. Fruits may cause over acidity - stick to a larger portion of veg vs. fruits (80% veg/ 20% apple or pear).

hi. I'm new to juicing. Like the posts. Very encouraging. Working on mental prep to do a reboot.
Keeping snacking to a minimum is huge! I had a few more pieces about 4 days after Halloween then I ever thought I would. However, moderation in all things, right? When I had my four year and two year old offering to share, I soon took a few little bites. I know that isn't 100%, however, I'm only at about 85% liquid diet at the moment. I have basically 7 days remaining in a weight loss contest, I need to go straight liquid this last 7 to really magnify my loss.
These contests really help me stay in check!
Shunned: "I allow myeslf one day a week last week it turned into three hehe." Awesome! After the holiday was over, we quickly got the candy done with and gone. The kids had some, but there was no need for them to eat THAT much, especially at their young age.
The guests are probably there now... good luck with keeping the candy consumption to a minimum or a noneimum <-- haha
Thanks for checking in! I've been swamped! Whew! Weight is still coming off... one calorie at a time, right?? haha Sometimes it feels like the scale doesn't move at all. However, consistently is key. Seriously, we didn't get fat overnight, and it won't all disappear overnight either. But, as we love ourselves and take care of ourselves, it will come off. :-)

"Doing surprisingly well...I mean no hunger, no real cravings, it is wonderful." <-- This is awesome! So often it becomes a mental thing of just how LONG you can go without chewing. I know for sure that the juice fast helps keep the weight off. Whenever someone ends a fast, keeping their intake and consumption level in check is huge, for maintaining the weight loss. It is easy to fall back into the same eating habits as before, if someone isn't thinking about it. Mentally thinking about what you've eaten is key. As we do this, we'll keep ourselves healthy, happy and maintain what we've lost.

Hey doing really well as long as I keep the snacking to a minimum! I allow myeslf one day a week last week it turned into three hehe. holloween was easy to get threw thank god! No candy at all even tho we still have it in the house no one has touched the left over stuff. we are having a guest for nearly two weeks and a big get together here in a week.. I think I will do quite well :)
Hello everyone, Just checking in, how are you handling the holiday? I am on day 13 of my third JF. Doing surprisingly well...I mean no hunger, no real cravings, it is wonderful. Just have to say to anyone just starting, hang in there it gets better! I am down a total of 57.2 pounds! Woo Hoo, that was primarily lost on my last 48 day JF. So there is the proof if any one wonders if this will really work...it does!

A vanilla (naturally flavored) juice today. I wanted something different. How are you guys doing? I have 16 days remaining in a weight loss contest so I am soooooo focused on that right now! That and of course, Halloween being tomorrow!
