Hello everyone! Day one of my first reboot ever. This group has excellent posts, lots of great information. Note to self, do not roast a turkey for your family on your first day of a fast. LOL, it's smells like Thanksgiving in this house, ahhhh sigh. I look forward to getting to know you all, learning, exploring, and becoming a juicer!

POOF sending good vibes out, we've got this woot! :)

Today is Day 15! We ended the day with 3 1/4 inches in the rain gauge. A bigger storm is headed our way this morning so i am going to empty the rain gauge. I pick up my grandson for the day at 11:30, so I hope the morning onslaught will be over by then. I will need to make juices for tomorrow. I can do all of my juice prep while my grandson is here, I am planning to set him up to paint and that will keep him busy. Then I can just juice it all up when he leaves. I am planning a quiet day with him because he has pneumonia and needs rest. I taped the kitten bowl for him to watch, plus a couple of other shows like Wreck it Ralph. I want to make him some soup, and just have a restful day for him. I will also give him some fresh juice, he loves mean green, so I am planning to make that this morning I just have to go pick some kale, and I will probably replace half of the kale in the recipe with spinach to make it milder.

I saw mention of a carrot cake juice recipe here, curiosity got the best of me! Tried it this morning -- and I DID follow the recipe! <G> It's good -- with the sweet potatoes, I might like it better than the carrot alone -- or maybe it's the tang of the apples I used in there. The wet pulp was enticing so I formed it into 10 cookie patties (and see the chunks of carrots slung out by the juicer? diced those to provide a crunch)... adding only a tiny bit of craisins and it's dehydrating now. If we don't eat them, El Doggo will, lol.

Yielded about 28 oz with this old centrifugal juicer -- the pulp was still pretty wet.

    Ingredients:

    4-6 large carrots (I used 6)

    1 1/2 sweet potatoes (I used 2 5" ones)

    1-2 red apples (I used 2)

    Dash of cinnamon.

Have you tried the pear or peach pie delight? I like it best with peaches, however pears work well too.

    INGREDIENTS:

    • 1 sweet potato
    • 2 pears (you can also use ripe peaches when in season)
    • 1 apple
    • 1 1/3 cups (150 g/6 oz) blueberries
    • Dash of ground cinnamon

    DIRECTIONS:

    1. Rinse all produce. Thaw the blueberries if using frozen.
    2. Add produce through juicer.

    SUBSTITUTIONS:

    Blueberries: Blackberries, raspberries
    Sweet potato: Jicama, squash
    Peaches: Nectarines, pears
    Apple: Pears

    Prep time: 5 minutes

    Servings: 1, 16-20 oz (500-600 ml) serving

Good Morning Buddies! Another Juicing Day! We have 2 1/2 inches in the rain gauge from yesterday, and it is supposed to continue raining today! Not as heavily but showers throughout the day. We had a fire in the fireplace and the house was so cozy and warm yesterday. I did go out early to walk before the rain, and kind of got stuck in one downpour as i tried to do a little extra, then I had a Garden Club meeting. When we got out of the meeting we made it to the car in a light rain and by the time we were 1/2 way home it was pouring down. Not sure what today will bring, I did join a week long challenge and just haven't felt like competing since I am stuck indoors. I also painted some rocks yesterday for my happiness project. You place rocks you made around the community for others to find then keep or share.

I made the monsters, and minions for my grandson. I am keeping the moons and floral ones for Easter and he can hunt for rocks. I hid the moon in the middle, the faith floral and a mandela rock I don't have a picture of yesterday at the library. After Easter Wyatt can decide to keep or share his minion and monster rocks. I painted the monster rocks because he is recently afraid there is a monster under the bed at night. So these are happy monsters and the scary monsters are afraid of them so they won't come into a room where the happy monsters are. I need to get more clear sealant for the rocks when I am out and about today!

Good Morning! Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. I was busy! We drove to the Delta to put the boat in after I did 4 miles of walking. Then when we got there the boat wouldn't start. So using the electric trolling motor Mark drove it to the slip where I ran to meet him and help him get the boat in. Once he got the boat in he worked on jumping the engine to get it started. It took quite awhile so I walked around the docks while he worked on it, checking back frequently to be sure he didn't need anything. He finally got it started and we went out to fish for stripers. Unfortunately the wind had come up and it just was not an ideal fishing day, so we just cruised around the Delta. We finally packed up and headed home at 3:30 it was 1 1/2 hour drive home. We decided to get in the spa for a bit and while it was heating up I walked around to get my step count up. I ended the evening getting in 11.88 miles. My wristband had gone off when I reached the 6 mile mark on the docks so I knew I had reached my goal for the day, however I joined a challenge and was trying to do my best to get in steps. I drank juice in the morning as we drove to the delta, and brought 2 red licorice juices (beets and fennel) with me. After all of the beet juice, I had to make several trips to the bathroom in the evening and again just minutes after getting out of bed. Today is lucky Day 13!

Morning, Juicers! [ 9am here.] Our DaylightSavingsTime change was this weekend and it hit me hard today. Slept in a bit. So I was so happy to:

Have a good supply of juice ready this morning in the fridge!

The green juice I made yesterday was very very bitter. I usually put the whole lemon in including peel, and this time I thought, "what the heck," and when adding pink grapefruit, I left the peels on. Two of them! <G> Yes, I'm crazy! And then I was in such a rush, I didn't even add apples. Whoa, that packs a punch!

Laugh at me, go ahead. I just seem to have suspended my rational mind sometimes when I juice. No impulse control. ROFLOL. I am so unlike this in other areas of my life, truly. But I think - or don't think - "I'll just add this." It was right there on the counter and easy to grab...

Ok, I'm not a glutton for punishment, so on the way home I bought a 15oz NAKED fructose-laden bottled green smoothie and added that sweet stuff in to the huge 40+ bottle of this Green Grapefruit Madness. Makes it palatable and we won't die from some grapefruit peel or fiber. ( My spouse didn't think it was that bad this morning, served him 12 oz of it. And I'm having it for b'fast. But my tongue does tingle! )

Today, I plan to juice carrots and beets, maybe add some sweet potatoes into the mix. I'm still not using recipes.

    Happy Juicing!

Sat. night I had 32 oz juice in the fridge; we drank that this Sun. morning. Never had time to juice today. (10pm here.) So I'm out of juice again. Busy day. And multiple people drinking. This week (and the fact that I caught up on other family food production in the kitchen already) should allow more time for keeping my supplies up.

PLAN: Running thru a checklist in my head for tomorrow, I have beets and beet greens and carrots and clean greens, all ready to juice. So that needs to be done first thing Monday.

I think having a routine for juicing would really help me. Rather than trying to analyze usage, define requirements, and design this, lol, my normal approach to most problems, I am reminding myself that some of my best plans where health is concerned and these lifestyle changes -- some of these plans have been more organic and have stuck better when they came that way, evolving rather from life than analyzing. Gee, that must sound like gobbledygook. lol Let's just say that I'm tired and not going to make a schedule tonight that I will fail to keep! Instead, I'll just keep on slogging on, and doing my best, and if I need to buy a bit of juice to tide me over occasionally for now, or eat a piece of fruit or solid veg instead of juice it, that's acceptable. Over time, a routine will evolve that will minimize running out of juice. It'll get easier to produce it. I'm just grateful to be where I am today taking some action.

I also plan to attend the yoga class I found last week, Mon afternoon.

The juices themselves are not overly high in calories, if you enter details in your average juice calculator you'll find that the calories are quiet low.

Calories are useful but so many other factors play into this, here is more on this -

People average 0.5-2lbs per day while juice fasting. Drinking more fluids and staying well hydrated also plays a role in how many calories you burn in a day.

It seems you may need to teach some of those juice drinkers how to prepare juices! I hope that they help with the cleanup at least!
