I hope everyone is doing well today!! ????

I'm so excited to be starting day 2/60!! Last night, I went to the gym, I biked 10 miles in 65 minutes. I also walked 6.3 miles yesterday. I've already walked 2.8 miles this morning!! Yay for me!!

This forum is great. I've had a rough 15 months. In July 2012, I fell and suffered a brain injury, that has not healed. My doctors expect me to be in recovery at least 5 years. Prior to my accident, I was a 4.0 doctoral student, now I have a lot of vision problems, and cognitive issues. So, if I respond oddly at some point, it means that I misunderstood something.

    Happy Saturday everyone!

I an now on Day 19 and successful so far doing straight juicing. On Oct 1, I weighed in at 241, This morning I weighed in 222.2. A loss of 18.8 of as this morning. I'm very very pleased with myself. I am mainly drinking green juice as it gives me the energy boost I need to get myself throughout the day. A lot of people at work see me drinking the green juice and one said you are not getting any protein! and I told him Kale and Spinach was high in protein and he proceeded to look online trying to dispute me. I never heard back from him the rest of the day, so he must've figured, huh. lol. My idea of starting the juicing was because I figured it would make my transition to eating plant based foods much more easier and more appreciative. I have eaten plant based foods but only to fall off and return to the old way of eating and gain my weight back.

I am trying to do this for 46 days straight. (Try). My goal is try to get to 130. Which is a total of 111 pounds. 92.2 lbs more to go. Short term goal II said 150. But long term I wish to get to 130. So I will need all the support I can get. and I support all of you. Way to go everyone! You're all so inspiring.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

What about water? We all know about plastic water bottles. So that leaves water cooler service, pitcher filters, faucet filters and straight tap. Any opinions, reviews, etc?

Hi Shunned. Awesome. Patting your back. You can get through the weekend. I've done it the last two weekends. If I can, anyone can. :) Stay strong, and when you see something you mentally think you want to eat, just remind yourself and focus yourself in why you're doing this in the first place. There's a difference between need and want. I've fought this for years. Don't let want win!! :)

Ucantimagine, thank you for the heads up about Earthlings. As I say, I am afraid to watch it. Probably won't do it today.

Just a suggestion re: not being able to find where we left off reading on the thread and not being able to locate the most recent activity post. If you type your post where it says 'Post On Group Wall', it will appear at the end of the thread where we can all find it. If you post it as a 'comment' under someone's post, then it stays there and out of date order, making it harder to locate. We had this problem on the previous version also. We just don't want to miss any of your valuable posts! (When I first started out, I once posted an answer to someone's question that had been asked 7 months prior, and I typed it as a reply. Needless to say, my post was lost in the netherlands never to be seen again, lol.).

Speaking of documentaries, I have watched Food Inc, Forks Over Knives, and FS&ND of course. Hungry For Change is another good one I just watched. I have Food Matters waiting for me at my library and also Forks Over Knives which I will watch again as a booster shot of inspiration. Through my research on YouTube, I came across another title, Earthlings, about the meat industry and factory farming, etc. I understand it's supposed to be the definitive game changer for anyone wanting to give up meat. I did give up meat three weeks ago, still holding strong. I haven't watched Earthlings yet, but I am considering it. To tell you the truth, I'm afraid to watch it. Ellen DeGeneres said it makes Food Matters/Food Inc. look like a Disney movie. I am guessing it's not for the faint of heart, and I am pretty faint of heart when it comes to the mistreatment of animals. If I do watch it, I'll let you know. Anyone here who's watched it, let me know what you think.

I looked up earthlings and the thumbnails were enough to stop me. I don't want to start my Saturday off bawling my eyes out. :(

I don't think I could handle it. I am already pretty convicted on the meat industry so I'm not going to punish myself like that. LOL but it is good to know about in case I need to refer some of the harder cases I know to something.

I watched Earthlings in 2008 and I'm getting emotional just reading your post, that is how powerful it is. I had no idea what factory farming was like until I saw it, despite watching many other health docs that briefly mentioned the plight of the animals; I haven't seen anything that tells it like it is the way Earthlings does. I recommend it, because it helped me greatly... I wouldn't have wanted to continue eating animals, not knowing the truth. Like yourself, I gave up meat/chicken, but instead of doing it purely for health reasons as I used to, now it's also because I'm doing my part to create a world of compassion, without killing, and to me that means it has to start with me. I don't mean to offend any meat eaters, I love you and don't judge you, but this is my personal choice.
