Hey guys! This is my first reboot challenge. I am currently on day 2. I am excited and determined to get back into great health. I have been taking a daily picture to track progress...but I weighed in before I started and wont weigh in until I finish the 60 days. Any advice or recipes you want to share to aid me on my success would be appreciated...

    Happy Juicing!!!

I am on day 2. Had to go to bed early last night feeling so tired. My stomach growled and had the hiccups a lot yesterday. I will weigh today and take a pic so I will have it to compare at the end of 30 days. I drank 2 green juices and 1 red. 16 oz. each and I was full? I did not get 4 juices in but felt satisfied with the 3. I did drink more water then I ever do in a normal day. Life is good and I feel excited with this journey.

    Start of day 6 today.

I've been feeling full in the evening and skipped the dinner juice the last 3 days. Maybe it is because I have added "Naked Rice" protein powder to my lunch juices. I added protein because I take a fitness class 3x a week and do not want to lose any muscle while juicing. My weight loss after 5 complete days is 13 pounds. that's more than I expected but very welcome news!

I hope everyone here is feeling the positive effects of raw juice! I cannot say enough about the power of raw!

I am starting a reboot today. I have no particular end date but wants to go more than 15 days. I hope to lower my high cholesterol and also my blood pressure which fluctuates from elevated to stage 1 high. I want to lower my weight too which is now about 200lbs thereabouts. I am male, 56yrs, 6' in length. I have some osteoarthritis in my knees too that causes pain. I hope the reduction of inflammation from juicing will cause some desirable effects there. I will add some protein powder here and there and I will be using a multivitamin. I also bought some bentonite clay, charcoal and psyllium husk and will try those out too although I don't really know if I have any illness that requires those. I will use some Udo's 3-6-9 and probiotics also. I will be exercising a little too. I am apprehensive, actually scared, of failure but I really need to arrest my decline of health or I feel I wont make 60. I hope I don't lose focus after a few days and fall off. I really need to listen to the signs my body is giving and act now. That's why I have so many exclamation marks after my name :). I am trying to get myself to listen, lol. :)

Brian!!!!!, when you stick to 2 green juices a day and 1 or 2 orange/red plus 4 glasses of water/coconut water, you will see health benefits in line with your goals. My test results for all categories have been amazing! I take no supplements except for a multivitamin. BUT,,,I do not take the vitamin while juicing. BTW I'm 55 and currently 182 lbs. @ 5'10"....working toward 175.

    Good luck on your reboot!

Thank you very much for the advice, Buckmaster. I have a month's supply of all those stuff. I don't know if I'll buy more. Probably not. Thanks again.

I am totally out of juice in the fridge. (Some frozen but I didn't get it out in time.) This does not happen often nowadays. The last quart or so has gone bad in the fridge -- left it one day too long, sigh. So be it.

This afternoon, I will have a helper juice 15lbs carrots, 3 celery bunches, and 3 cukes. I will see if we have any beets in the fridge to add. From that we should get enough to last til Sunday when we will juice again... and if we get the pulp pressed in a timely fashion, we should have way more than enough.

Right now, it's only my husband and I drinking juice. He drinks two 16 oz servings/day if he can. I am drinking more if I can.

Thx for the imput and link Soose! I've made note of it for future reference. I'm just starting and am planning a run to Aldi's tomorrow, so I'm going to see if they have anything. Right now I'm just using my bullet and straining. (Kind of a pain, but trying to be frugal and concentrate on the fruits and vegges.)

Hi everyone... I actually probably won't be posting A LOT, but I have a START DATE for my reboot. I've already started walking (started Jan.4, 2019) and I get in at least 3 miles per day (except for Saturdays). My start date for REBOOT is March 14, 2019, which is a significant date to me - and hard for me to forget. At the moment, I am looking for a juicer that does what I want, in the price range I can afford. So I'm reading, learning, and shopping. Nice to be here... and yes, I watched BOTH movies... Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. That's me!

Hi, Kimberly. Just saw this after I posted to Brian about juicers below. Think I'll send a private msg for you to check back since you have a month and might not come back right away -- so you can read what some people have said about juicers here. and in the thread just below. (Won't repeat myself.)

And wtg on selecting a good date for your reboot! You can do this! It's great to get the transition going now.

Hi everybody, Newbie here. I'll be starting a reboot in a few days. Right now I have a Hamilton Beach centrifugal juicer. Can I use this or should I get another? What juicer do you guys have if you don't mind sharing? Thanks!

Hi Brian! I am currently using a Breville Juice Fountain Plus (centrifugal). I have an Omega masticating juicer but it takes much more time to use (cutting produce smaller, actual juicing time, and clean-up), so right now it's in my cabinet, and the centrifugal is on the counter. Whatever keeps you enthusiastic about juicing is the right juicer for you. I'm sure your Hamilton Beach is fine. Get to know your machine, and if you find you love juicing and desire different features, then upgrade and try another. Some ingredients juice better in masticating and twin gear than in centrifugal, but you can do most everything in a satisfactory way in the centrifugal, in my opinion. No juicer is perfect; what matters is which variables are most important to you. Relax and enjoy your new relationship with fruits and vegetables! Happy juicing!

p.s. Once you get going, let us know how how the Hamilton Beach is doing and if you have any specific concerns. Good luck to you!

Hi, Brian, glad to meet you. I was just saying on another group that I have fancy masticating juicers but for purposes of reboot last year, I put them away and use a very inexpensive centrifugal (a Breville look alike I bought at Aldi's a few years ago) for all my root veg. It's so FAST.

It doesn't do greens well, though... slings them out and since I am a bit over the pale about hating wasting pulp, I use the high speed blender or food processor for greens and soft fruits, with water or juice added if needed. Then I either hand press the pulp or put it thru the juice press I invested in. Way beyond what most people would want to do, I know.

In fact, I think my first centrifugal was a Ham. Beach from Sam's Club. Eventually it gave up the ghost. With the centrifugals, even the very pricey ones, what I've noticed is that the mesh basket is the "pass or fail" of the juicer. My very pricey masticator, new, just takes too long to get that mesh basket part clean. :( And is too fiddly with its many parts. We have it boxed up and I mean to sell it because I just do not LIKE it. My husband agrees. Takes too long to clean. So we're using the centrifugal and the other kitchen appliances -- and we got thru 3 people rebooting last year producing sometimes 1.25 or more gallons/day with that equipment.

The point at this point for a reboot is just to get producing JUICE. IMO.

Love to hear the pro's and con's of your Hamilton Beach. You and others here might want to contribute to this thread:

SHOW MY JUICING SETUP | Reboot with Joe

    https://community.rebootwithjoe.com/discussions/topic/show-my-juicing-setup

Some of the members have bought new juicers since then and there's more to add... at some point, I started missing putting in new juicers. I've noticed there are a lot more options in juicers and members here are getting better prices on those new options -- brands we never heard of -- as they replace their juicers. So after a time if you want to upgrade or need to, there's plenty out there.

Including on Craigslist and FB marketplace here - - used. Keep a watch if you want to. Might luck out. My friend bought a Breville that way last Summer. (But she hasn't USED it so it's better to just USE your juicer and get on with the reboot! No worries, she has a pattern of buying kitchen appliances and never unboxing them, lol, love her, and you do not have to do that. You are here for a reboot!)

HI everyone. New to reboot, tried to do this a few years ago with no luck, so I am back for the guided reboot this time for 30 days, to help me keep track. I have a question, do you guys sometimes feel like your stomach is off? like nauseus or just uncomforable? I am on day two.

  • Greenvision

Yes definitely! Including or increasing the amount of ginger in your juice may help, as well as drinking peppermint tea.

I think anyone could never do a juice only reboot without some unusual sensations in their stomach, mouth, and overall digestive system. I'm on day 3 and I feel that now familiar growl and sort of hollow feeling. I usually drink water when I get those sensations. Maybe it should try tea?
