I am glad to see some others starting this juicing challenge. Wow, the support and positive feedback are really humbling, such positive people here! Made it through the social outing ok, ordered a salad, tried a little soup too, but it tasted too salty!!! That was a good thing, because ordering the salad was plenty, and the added soup was pushing it, and I knew it. The suggestion of making broth is a good one, I'll try it; after a week (and 5 pounds), it is important to include some variety.

The sequel movie is something I've purposely held off watching till I am halfway through my 30 days. By day 15, a little inspiration may help. I am not really hungry (unbelievable), and getting right back on track after the social event was welcome rather than drudgery. As someone here said, this is kind of the "bubble." After completing the 30 day challenge, making choices and navigating outside the bubble is the next challenge ahead. Having the "bubble" to always come back to, however, is reassuring. Juicing is going to be the future "autocorrect" when I stray from maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Reclaim you'll enjoy FSD2 a lot. It has more to do with maintaining a healthy lifestyle than juicing. It'll be the perfect inspiration for day 15.

Morning of day 4. I caught myself as the routine of making coffee kicked in - but not the need. Laughed and walked 2 steps to the fridge. I think my success will depend on continually having something ready to go verses making it as I need it. I try to do at least 2 servings each time so there is always something to grab. I thought I might keep a couple store made cold pressed juices on hand fr emergencies but HOLY CRAP - they want like 7$ for a 12 ounces. Lost another 1/2 pound. The first two days were dramatic - more than 2 pounds each, but I prefer slow and steady. I will be thrilled if I can do 3-4 pounds a week.

You are absolutely right about having juices available and ready to go. I make enough juice to last me a few days. I freeze a few as a buffer. If you do a long juice fast, the hassle of juicing every day can really wear on you. Juices are good for 3 days refrigerated. Of course, the highest nutritional content is right from the juicer, but finding a way to balance juicing into a sustainable lifestyle is far more important. Do what works best for you.

Day 6, and I ended up "cheating." Gum chewing just didn't suffice, and I ended up eating a kale "salad." Just veggies, really, but I felt a bit sad that I didn't sustain. Chewing some solid food is what I craved, not a sweet or something bad for my body. Back on track and going to try to stay strong. Life goes on, back in the saddle.

I am almost through day 3. Doing ok, but once I realized broth was approved, I have a warm cu of chicken broth and man oh man was that satisfying. I also made an all veggie batch this afternoon and used the pulp to make veggie broth. It simmered for about 2 hours, I added garlic and a little sea salt and it is amazing. The warm broth fills me up differently than the juice. Just something to try. By the way, don't be too hard on yourself, a kale salad doesn't sound that "cheaty" to me. my $.02

While i was making my dinner juice i ate a tomato. You didn't cheat. You made a healthy choice. I'm just finishing day 6 as well. I have gotten so much energy back that i ran on the treadmill for 25 minutes. I typically only run when I'm being chased... You're doing great. If these healthy things are what we all reach for i think we're going to be ok.

Hey Reclaim - Lack of chewing is definitely a challenge. It's one of those things we don't even think about, then all of a sudden we start juicing and it's gone! You made great choices on the things you ate, and most importantly, you are right back on your juicing plan.

One thing to keep in mind when you are juicing, is that your juicer is doing "all of the work" for you. Your juicer breaks down the fruits and veggies so that the nutrients can be easily absorbed by your body. When you eat the same fruits and veggies, you do the work by chewing and digesting. However, the nutrients are the same whether you juice or chew.

Be kind to yourself and don't beat yourself up. You did great and you made excellent choices.

Dont look at it like "cheating" but rather a healthy reward for your 6th day of juicing, you are doing great keep up the good work...

Excellent work Sergio! Just wait till day 5 or 6. I'm on day 6 now and am more awake and alert without coffee than with it. I can't remember the last time I had so much to burn.

Great job Sergio! I really like how you have planned your juicing. It's clear that you are determined and committed to success. Dropping caffine is hard, if the challenge becomes too great, you could switch to tea or ease into cutting back on coffee over a series of days. Obviously, no coffee would be the best choice, but depending upon how dependant you are on caffine, the withdrawals can be pretty rough. I just don't want caffine withdrawals to be a deal breaker for you . . . but I doubt they would be because you seem very motivated and committed.

Also, expect to experience some energy lulls during the first few days. You'll be amazed at your energy level once you get a few days under your belt.

Keep up the good work! You are a real inspiration!

Hey there from Oregon. I have had my juicer for years and had previous doctors says that I shouldn't juice without eating because of all the carbs, less fiber, not balanced, etc. I have med high cholesterol (268 total), I am pre-diabetic and take metformin, and have worked with naturopaths for years trying to maintain a healthy weight. I am currently about 30 pounds too heavy. 56 yrs (57 in March) female, 5'10", former runner with 6 full marathons under my belt. Oh the days when my knees allowed me to just run the weight away. By most US standards, I was eating very healthy. No soda, no fast food, few simple carbs - but no combination of diet or exercise - short of eating basically zero carbs - would move the weight. And I mean zero - not even veggie carbs. So I am throwing out the old language and diving into full on juicing. No concern for carbs, just making sure I am getting "enough" juice, water, herbal tea, coconut water and I think starting this weekend, bone broth.

I started this journey at 187.7 Wed morning. I began my day with fasting blood work - which is cool cause I started my juicing immediately after giving blood. I think I am going to do 15 days, assess, and keep doing 15 day increments so long as I feel good. Which I hope/expect. This morning after the first day, I was 184.1. Crazy. I also walk close to 5 miles every day with my dog, and after the first week, if my energy is good, I a going to add in some weight training. I am not good at following recipes - but i strive for 75% veggies, 25% fruit. After reading some other posts, I also suspect I will be making bone broth this weekend - I am already finding myself cold all the time!

I am so inspired by all the brave people who post their struggles and progress. The desire to be healthy, not thin, was finally what tipped the scales, so to speak, for me. Thin would be an excellent by product though for sure.

I am always amazed that when I share with people - coworkers, friends, and even some family - that I want to do this fairly unusual program to find my healthiest self, so many people promptly say, you look great, you're not fat, that doesn't sound like a good idea. So many of these same people often complain about their own frustration with their own health.

I hope to be successful, as much for my own quality of life, as to hopefully be an example for those around me I care about.

If you made it to here, thanks for listening and I agree - let's help each other. So if I can help any of you, just tell me how. K Marie

You will find that your body will heal fairly quickly after the 10th day. You are probably going to have an easier transition than most.

Hi First keep up the good work. You are an inspiration. How do you make bone broth? I see it in the health food store but it's so expensive and I'd rather make everything I can oppose to buying. I'm only on the end of day 2 but I feel wonderful. Hope it keeps up.OH and I'm down 2.2 lbs but like you weight loss is a side effect to getting healthy but a welcomed side effect! lol thanks for post. I love reading everyones posts.

    Thanks Juice on
