I actually first went off of meat, then after a few weeks, went to smoothies only (with plenty of protein) and then on to the juice fast, so my weight loss of around 40lbs was over about a month, but really started coming off after the juice fast started.

One day I lost 6lbs in 24 hours, couldn't believe it.

The doctor totally gave me crap about it,m told me too much weight too fast, not healthy. Not sure if he was right or not, oh well, lol.

Well, it looks like my juice fast is over.

My doctor ordered me to quit :(

For the past few days, all I could smell or taste is ammonia, and having cold sweats that smell like ammonia. This morning the ammonia in my breath was so bad it made my eyes water.

I went to the doctor and he told me that is a sign of kidney failure, and I have keytones in my urine, so now I have to get a CAT scan to check my kidneys and get blood work done, bummer.

He told me that I am stressing my kidneys with the juice fast because I am not consuming any protein for too long.

So, today was day 13, and my last day for now, looks like Gardein crispy mandarin vegan chicken and rice for supper tonight, hope it goes OK after this long with no food.

I'm still going to keep on with the juice in addition to my vegan diet, but I have to make sure I don't use any veggies or fruit that can aggrivate my kidneys at all.

Sorry to hear this. Best wishes to you. Hope all goes well.

The ammonia sounds scary! Have to protect kidneys! Hope the transition back to solid food goes easily for you.

40 lbs in 12 days you reported -- that was amazing. I lost 24lbs on a 9 day medically supervised water only fast in the past before I really knew anything about fasting, not that I know a lot now. Have you read up on Dr. Jason Fung? I haven't but others here have. Might be some answers for you there?.

If you want, and still need support, you could come join us on the Plant Based Eating After the Reboot group, started by Leslie. Juice and Plant-based. So food and recipes might be mentioned there but not meats.

Morning, Juice Challenger Buds! Last juiced on Monday. We are on our last juice bottle each today, for b'fast, one for Dh and one for me. These milk bottles I bought are keeping it very fresh, filled to top and screwed on lids. Today - this afternoon - is a juicing day. My ds picked up the produce for me yesterday afternoon and I will get it in to soak in salt water before cleaning and juicing. Fridge/freezer will hopefully be full of juice to last til Sunday morning and another juicing session.

Have fun juicing! Be well and juice on!

    I'm actually down around 40lbs, and I'm on day 12. It's noticeable.

I'm just afraid of gaining it all back like I usually do after the reboot.

I'll definitely be back to vegan again after this for good, no more fish sticks and donairs for me, lol.

No donair formed against me shall prosper :)

day 35 yesterday and was so frustrated with no weight loss, actually went up a couple pounds. Just about threw the scale out the window! So much effort! Layed in bed and re evaluated my situation. Got up, bought a 64 oz water jug and drank all that, plus my juice, and today down 3 lbs. WATER people. When you get frustrated, drink more water. So simple! Why do I do that to me? Deny that I need that much water when I'm putting in all this effort to juice fast? Oh well. Juice on my friends. And don't forget your water!

Thanks Sherri, it's getting easier, and I'm hoping that some of my auto-immune symptoms start disappearing soon, I've had 14 CAT scans since I had cancer 5 years ago, and they still cannot figure out what is wrong.

How is your juice fast going? Hanging in there?!

Fallen off a bit, but still having a min of 2 juices a day. I’ve been snacking on almonds and because they’re unsalted I don’t even like them and still munching more than I want to. Trying for a full day of juicing tomorrow! I think the key is to not give up and go completely backwards. So in that sense I’m doing well!! Down 14lbs! Thank you for asking

Hello all, on day 7 of my juice fast, so far so good.

Gonna keep on juice fasting this time as long as I can financially do it, the price of veggies here in Nova Scotia Canada is through the roof, (and I'm on fixed disability) especially celery, now $4.75 each, it's crazy.

Can't wait for summer as I'm growing as many veggies as I can!

    Cheers :)

Boy I thought my celery was expensive at 2.59! Guess I'll quit complaining. Hang in there!

Welcome NSreboot -- and congrats on 7 days! I

guess that NS stands for Nova Scotia? Bet it's beautiful up there! Wow at the price of produce, though! Good motivation to grow a garden. Our organic celery has been 1.99 lately here. (US dollars). It occasionally goes on sale, too.

Tidbit... Leslie just shared on Happy Juicing about some doc who drank 32 oz of celery juice during treatments for pancreatic cancer? (She was listening to a summit.) I guess that's 2 to 3 bunches of celery. Cheaper than cancer treatment meds, for sure.

    Be well and juice on!

Did ya'll know that the lymphatic system is dependent on movement to work? That means exercise and movement thru the day directly affects our immune system. The sedentary lifestyle defeats the way our bodies are supposed to work! Just learned that! We need to MOVE.

This afternoon is juicing day for me. My husband stopped by Sprouts and brought home 15lbs carrots, 3 large bunches celery, 3 cukes, red beets. I can taste it now.

I had him get an extra 3 bunches celery to juice separately as I have to fast for bloodwork and a test tomorrow morning. They said high protein/no carbs from tonight but they do want you to have something. Usually I have carrot/beet juice when I get up. But we don't usually eat an evening meal (eat earier). I'm going to drink celery juice before the fasting start; easily digested and no blood sugar fluctuations surely.

Today I’ve managed to get through the day with only juice. Feeling good and hopeful. Learning to trust myself and the process. I may go to bed early to avoid temptation...
