    Good Morning, Happy Juicers!

I made my green breakfast juice this morning and my dh and I have already drunk one serving. I made more today. Will bottle one for my son and the rest is mine.

I made it with granny smiths and then an extra lemon. It's ok but I preferred it with only one lemon. I was in a rush - slept later. I just realized when I went to put the produce back into the fridge that I forgot to use the green beans I had washed and put back into the fridge.

Green beans are good in green juice -- but I found one "bag" is enough, two bags drives the taste too much. (Sprouts puts some produce including green beans in an open bag, about a pound, and I just grabbed rather than self-selecting as they were fresh. I've been in there in the mornings and they assign the job of bagging green beans to cashiers who are too idle, lol. So I knew they were freshly bagged.)

I have sat down just a second and will go finish rinsing the juice press in a second. Aack. Got sidetracked getting my husband out the door with his juice, and drinking mine here. It's okay, it all rinses easily. I left it dripping.

We also have four bottles of carrot juice that have to be drunk this morning - I drank one and not sure how many my dh took to work, likely 2.

This afternoon is a carrot/beet/cuke/celery 3-day-supply juicing day. I already have produce in the fridge ready to soak. After a dearth of red beets for a good many weeks, the beets were big and gorgeous on Tuesday at Sprouts so I doubled up. I cut off the greens and have been using the leaves in our green juice along with parsley, and saved the beetroots -- and the purple stems -- for this carrot batch. Cucumbers have been a good buy lately, so we are adding in more as well as celery.

We are going off this weekend so will have to carry a cooler and keep our juice fresh thru Sunday morning. Oh! I guess the hotel has a mini fridge and it's only a couple of hours away from home. Easy. Having the juice will help us avoid hotel b'fast temptations!

    Be well, juice on!

I do the same, IamFit -- using rebooting as an excuse to not tidy or declutter. But I can find loads of excuses to avoid such. Let's just not avoid doing what I can with nutrition and doing my best on getting healthy, okay? I think I have passed that in my life. My old boxes of paper may not be sorted but that won't kill me... all those years avoiding making changes with my food, all those excuses, they put nails in my eventual coffin imo.

My closets are done and I have had chores it will rain all day Friday so I am planning to go room to room and gather up all of the books. I saved some smaller boxes so they won't be too heavy and will donate them to the library when they have a library drive. I got rid of many books when we did the kitchen remodel but some have come back on the shelves. I know I have gotten a few from Thrift books as they are sometimes very cheap. time for them all to move on. I have gardening books I can give away to the gardening club as well. Off to the garden the sun is coming out!

what are other juicers experiences with nonjuice food left in the house and frig? i'm feeling shaky heading into the thyroid juice only days. should i throw out perishable frig food and freezer food? and then box up cans [i have a lot of lentil soup and pinto beans in cans] and hide them in the closet? don't want to mess this juice fast up.

  • Soose

Hi, Lilly, glad to see you. If you ARE feeling shaky, then do something to be safe. Just imo. Listen, no shame about it, I have been known to send foods to my husband's trunk where it will be in his car rather than hanging around here waiting on a weak moment. (I am a food addict. In the wrong state, I have no resistance against temptation!) My husband is kind enough to help me out. Different foods will tempt diff people, and right now I have some in bags in my bedroom because they were tempting my ds, but those don't bother me. Do what you have to do. Don't kid yourself!

And I think the best advice someone gave -- it was on the beginner's challenge group last year -- was if you're hungry, drink more juice. (Assuming drinking extra won't mess up the thyroid part of your reboot; I am clueless.) Well, I thought it made a lot of sense.

Good Morning, Happy Juicers. Lovely day here, sunny, blue skies, cool but I think it'll be in the low 70's today.

@SunnyRain, Glad to hear from you! You are going on vacation or walkabout soon, too, I think, but I was pretty sure it was too early, later Spring/early Summer...

@Leslie and Zeke, I don't do Facebook, but ya'll go ahead... again, anyone who wants to stay in contact, please send me an email.

@IamFit, your own walkabout sounds just lovely!

I overslept! But I still got into the kitchen and juiced green again this morning - except it was red with the beet green stems. I really like my green juices GREEN nowadays. C'est la vie. Also drank half a carrot/beet juice so far and sent some with my dh to work, and bottled some for my ds later. More carrot/beet later for me, too.

I'm heading to Sprouts myself today, so must make a list and look at space in the fridge.

And review the sales ads for tomorrow and this last week. I am in a neighborhood where the newspaper still throws weekly ads in the driveway, and instead of throwing them Tuesday night (most ads start Wed morning), mine come usually early on Monday. So I get a heads up and a day or two to catch this week's sales if they're super good, or put it off and go Wednesday or later, or since they're very close I can even shop twice if I want, etc.. On Tuesday, people in the stores say, "Where did you get next week's ad!?" lol.

If you don't have a Sprouts yet and didn't know, they actually have a double ad day on Wednesday -- you can buy from last week's or this week's ad, lower price whichever is better. But it's still nice to have the ads early to plan. Wednesdays get busy! They also have a good raincheck policy.

Okay, be well and juice on!

Morning, Happy JuiceBuds. Who's around rebooting? We had a family talk last night and it's time.

My whole family is rebooting again starting today, though we're not going juice-only yet. Call it a re-focusing to maximize nutritional content of everything, including juice added. Transition mode. Cruciferous salads and soup, ETL style eating. GBOMBS.

Everyone had weighed in. I started a new ticker with a starting weight and I hope they did, too. Will track it.

Juiced yesterday. We have 17 servings of carrot/beet/cuke/celery juice in the fridge for my dh and I for these three days. ( That is divvied out or has been at 3 to 4 servings/day for me and 2/day for him right now. I may share some of that with my ds who is just starting to add juice back in to his plan this week. Won't juice carrots again until Thursday.

This morning, I added a green juice I made on the fly and it sure was good! Just made a sorta green lemonade on the fly with what I grabbed -- red dandelion greens, parsley, lemon, apple, cukes. Split it between the three of us. I think I'm freeing up so I can start juicing more daily or on the fly. Feels good.

I don't care for ginger in the mean green. But have put it on my list to juice some ginger root and store the juice so we can make gingerale beverages as desired. All last year I kept the fridge stocked with this but I have not juiced ginger in a while. I have to go to a social function tomorrow night and think I'll take a bottle of soda water, ginger root, and stevia so others can try this out.

I am really craving juice today!

I'm rebooting, just not so much around at the moment. I will be juicing for 10 more days, then I'm transitioning back to food just before my 1 month holiday. I love how all of your family reboots together. I bet it is a lot of work preparing so many servings, but it's easier to juice in ckmpany isn't it? Happy juicing!

iamFIT I will have to watch some of those videos sometime when I am not busy! I did watch the first ones on television and I did clean out all of the closets in the house and my dressers as well. I can't believe how much I had to donate I filled up the back of my SUV 4x and went to Goodwill! I heard that they are getting lots of donations since the show began! Books are next and it is supposed to rain this week I am eating a late lunch then back to the garden to finish planting a rose bush and a few sea holly plants and whatever else I have in my wheelbarrow. It is beginning to rain so I need to get that done!

Morning, Happy Juicers! I woke really craving the fresh taste today, as soon as I got up. Plenty for tomorrow, too, a juicing day.

It's my husband's bday. We will plan a day puttering around, his choice. No pressure. I will see what I can do... Just Sprouts for juicing produce for tomorrow. He has a social occasion this evening but I am staying home. I will be tuckered out by then!

Birthday presents are hard when we've already got too much stuff to our names. I had a brainstorm last week.

He had been mentioning for weeks that he needs to repair the bluebird houses out on the fences. So as I was driving by them on the tractor (when did we mow -- two weeks ago at the end of all that rainy season?), I noticed they really are getting beyond it a bit.

And for two weeks when we were over at his new work building, he has mentioned he wants to ask if he can mount a bluebird house on the huge lightpole at work by where he parks his car. His office window is very close and he has been having the cutest bluebird visit his windowsill every morning. :) If I had a way to get to a fishing store, I could buy him some grubs for the bluebirds as a birthday treat. [ I digress. ]

So my son and I built him three replacement bluebird houses! AND totally cleared up after ourselves. When we gave them to him last night, it was a total surprise! He didn't even smell the cedar as he went thru the garage! Score one for us! :)

Here is the Eastern Bluebird at my husband's work. (You have to look closely at the sill. Right outside across the drive is a huge open field and that lightpole -- and next door, there's a lake. Perfect for bluebirds!):

What a cute bird Soose! Thanks for picture. I know what you mean about choosing gifts when there is nothing we need. You did a brilliant thing with the birdhouses—unexpected and thoughtful.
