Good Morning, Happy Juicers! Hello IamFIT! How's your trip prep going? (I can't keep track of who is going when on trips.)

Who else is around today? :)

I haven't made my green juice yet. Working our way thru the bounty of Sunday's carrot juicing a bit first. Don't want so much that we end up wasting it.

Finished day 5 of the prolon plan yesterday. Weight down 5.4 lbs over the 5 days which is good. Yesterday did not go as planned, it was better! I got my run walk on time, came home and had my breakfast which was a small bar and tea. I was still hungry so I ate the soup that was for my lunch and reserved the kale crackers for my dinner soup. Went out to the garden at 11:30, planted some plants I had potted up, into the plastic kiddie pools so i would have flowers along the fence line that would be easy to weed. Just as I started getting the tomato garden tidied up to start weeding I got a call from a high school student who was to call me when he was available to help. He came over promptly at 1 and we worked together to dig the weeds out of the garden and he finished at 4, hauling some prunings to the burn pile and moving a bale of hay that was beginning to grow to the side of a hill to decompose. We got a lot done! I got the smell off by washing up, and just wanted to sit for awhile, Drinking copious amounts of water and eating my kale crackers.

I worked a lot harder than I would have if I were out there alone for sure I ended up with over 11 miles in one day, and aching back and smelling awful after opening a box of saturated cotton seed meal and spreading it around the blueberries. Mark came home and we sat in the hot tub for an hour and I then came in and showered and washed my hair! I forgot to make my list!

So in the am I got up late! Went for my run/walk late and was feeling very unmotivated (5 days of fasting will do that) I made my list, and oh how hard it was since I just got some new recipes and want to try everything! I was at the grocery store near a juice place so I had a morning juice while shopping, mailed off a package at UPS, went to the bank, and finally got home for a 3:00 lunch just a cup of tomato soup. Put everything away, still have to make my juice for tomorrow morning but I am going to wait and see as it should be raining all day and it will be good for me to make it first thing in the morning.

I have a pineapple, too -- afraid I"ve left it a bit long. Biggest one I've ever seen (which is not the best criteria, I guess -- a pineapple maybe on steroids? Aack.) I also have kale, parsley, and dandelion greens waiting, and some honeycrisp apples. OH! And a small personal watermelon on sale. I think I have one bunch of celery and some cukes left to add? Will raid the fridge. I also have some cantelopes -- they've been nice and big, hope they're sweet. Looking forward to some cantelope smoothies or juice!

Need to up my juice consumption even more this week, and plan on making some onion broth this week, too. Maybe the four individual servings from frozen onions would be a good idea -- instead of a big pot -- so I can heat it fresh on demand would be good this week, but I bought a bunch of onions for an instant pot batch.

If I can get to the extra juicing. I'm at my limit today. I've been pounding around too hard since 2am! My old ankle is a bit sore and I'm tired. Ready for a rest. We have eggplant casserole heating up.

We made 11.5 bottles centrifugal from the carrots stuff, then 5.5 bottles in the press. Seems a pretty normal amount. One bottle is going to my fil this afternoon when my husband goes to visit; he's been open to drinking it. Pretty good at 94.5yo! Less carrots more celery and cukes and beets in today's batch -- I misremembered (is that a word? It is in the South, lol, or used to be ) how many carrots were in the fridge waiting -- about 8lbs not 10 -- and only bought 5 lbs at the store, so we put more of other veggies. Luckily I also had 2 bunches of beets not only one, and extra celery and cukes.

    Ahh, juicing sagas. :)

It's all ready For now til Thursday morning. I'll hope to make the green juice, maybe in smaller as-I-drink batches, but it'll not be just today. Relaxing the rest of today!

    Be well and juice on!

Do you buy dandelion greens at Sprouts?

  • Soose

Yes, DiAnn, I can buy bunches of organic dandelions at Sprouts, most of the time. I was out mowing with the tractor yesterday (like a dune buggy -- always loads of fun :) ) and noticed the first dandelion seed pods or whatever they're called. Thought back to our conversation last year of just picking my dandelions -- we certainly have plenty of them thru the season. Not sure if I'll do that or just keep buying them. They're about $2.99 not on sale for a huge bunch. They have red dandelions, too -- but I seem to be allergic or sensitive to those for some reason. I've avoided them for a couple of years and right now I can't think why or what was happening. More than just not liking them.

I also got a huge bunch of lovely organic parsley. For some reason I was craving it. I think I need a big detox.

When you have a large pineapple you can always refrigerate chunks, or even freeze them to add to any juice when you crave a sweeter taste or need something to fix the flavor. Just take them out of the freezer and let sit while you make your juice and juice them once they are defrosted and add that juice in.

Good Morning Happy Juicers! The scale has not moved in the last few days so tomorrow i go back to whatever and I am choosing to juice. This evening I am planning to make a list for shopping and go to the grocery store tomorrow where I can shop and get some steps in going around the store. It is supposed to rain steadily all day and all through Thursday. Yesterday by the time I had gotten back from my run/walk it was late (2:30) I emptied the dishwasher made lunch and folded clothes. All the things that had me slowed down to get started in the morning! By the time I had put my shoes on to go out it began to rain, then hail then a heavy rain which did not end until 5:15 so I did not go get my garden done. I cleaned out my laundry room instead which was long overdue! So right now I am heading out to run/walk then the garden to get the weeds cleaned out and plant a female kiwi.

My first juice will be a Hawaiian Pear as I have a pineapple in the fridge that has been waiting juicing the last 5 days!

On day 42 of my juice fast I've got so frustrated because I'm just not losing any pounds, so I've decided to take a few days off of strictly juice and eat something once a day, and juice the rest of the day for seven days, then hopefully go back to strictly juicing. It's just too hard when you're not seeing results. I mainly drink the mean green because I only make juice once a day for the whole day, but this recipe makes me inspired to try again. Of course, switching it to 80/20 I'll have to cut the fruit portions down, but I'm sure it's going to be delicious.

mizmo, It is one of my favorites and it is high in soluble fiber so it helps clean out the blood vessels. I just finished the prolon plan and they have you drink 32 oz of water with a measured amount of vegetable glycerin to help keep things moving in the gut. Be sure you are drinking a minimum of 64 oz of water per day.

Sunday morning early. It'll be a juicing day and I need to get out to Sprouts to buy juicing produce early, and while it's not crowded. I actually have 10 lbs carrots plus stuff to go with already cleaned in the fridge ready to juice.

With what was juiced in the centrifugal Thursday afternoon (11 servings), and then what my husband pressed Thursday night (6 more servings), and with juicing for 3 days instead of trying to stretch it to 3.5 days (between Sun afternoon and Thurs morning), we've really had a surplus of juices for the last few days.

Even though we shared some with a coworker Friday morning, and even though I've had one serving already (it's really EARLY on Sunday morning), I will still have 4 juices in the fridge right now to start the day. My husband will probably take one over to share with an elderly dad when they walk today.

I do like having enough juice -- even a surplus on hand! Another 15 lbs carrots plus accompaniments today.

It's harder to make it between Sunday afternoon and Thursday morning. But that's when we have the time and wherewithal to juice for now.

    Be well and juice on!

happy juicers nice to see ya all. Leslie that was sweet of you the BIG reply. right now, the only think in my mind is relax, enjoy, meditate , be with nature, and NOT GAIN ANY WEIGHT,,even a pound.lol. after i am back, losing 1kg=2.2 pounds a week seems a good plan to stick up too.i can also use this time to think seriously about food addiction, TRUST THE JOURNEY, nad the purpose of losing wieght is HEAALTH FIRST.

yeah i am on supplements, of vitamin D, calcium , and mecobalamin. my yearly test is on july 17th.

liked what you said always being the slim slender one at home, , so was me, but health issues and serious illness, does change the metabolism and the body.I am aiming to be fit, one of my school mate is a yoga teacher, i confess, i became jealous seeing her instagram photos.and a cousin sis is a catalogue model of designer dresses.so instead, let me take it as a motivation to do better.after all each one's life journey is unique.

Good morning Happy Juicers! I am starting day 4 of the prolon plan so it is the last day. Yesterday mornings weigh in I was down 5.4 lbs I have not weighed in yet today because it is raining (it just stopped) So I have been drinking herbal tea and doing some chores around the house. It stopped raining a few minutes ago and should be passed us now, so I will go get dressed and weighed and head out for a run/walk then I hope to get some work done in the garden. Going to re listen or catch up on some of the summits I missed. I have almost made the 600 mile mark for the year so ahead of schedule even though the weather and not using my trampoline or treadmill, has kept me behind last years mileage, and am almost 3/4 of the way across the U.S. in the Amerithon. Going to try and stay busy and make and effort to get more different exercise on the days of rain coming up next week!

I sure wish I had your energy Leslie! I guess it’s a mental matter of just getting up and out but I seem to be so lazy these days.

  • Soose

I agree, Leslie's activity level is just amazing! I want that, too!

@Robin, I was being so slow to get up and at things for quite a while. It was a chronic problem. I'd get basics done but seemed to have no motivation to work on projects or activities that I actually wanted to do beyond the basics. I figured it was just stress, because I could even feel it very mildly underneath, but it had gone on a long time. Not I hasten to say any emotional depression. Just... inertia.

For me -- and YMMV !!! this made a real difference -- amazing difference. Maybe there's something off chemically? I'll put this here in case someone else can benefit, I certainly don't know for others, but maybe there's an analogy.

I'd cut out all supplements at least 1.5 years ago, maybe 2yrs, because I had some type reaction to one and didn't know which. As part of my reboot last year, I had been adding supplements back in one per 3 weeks last Summer or perhaps once/month. And I got to Vitamin D3.

I very soon realized that that I had broken through that barrier of being lazy. It was night and day. I started doing projects I wanted to do, and that underlying feeling of very mild unease or stress was just GONE. I became very happily active on NEW projects -- not just getting the basics done and getting by.

But I did not correlate it to the Vit D3. A couple of weeks later, I did bloodwork. Then the next week (before getting bloodwork results), by Wednesday that I was back into the laziness for about 3 days. Looking back, over those few days, I realized I'd forgotten to take the Vit D3 for those days. So I started taking it and by the next day, I was back up and at 'em pretty well.

The followup at an internist showed my bloodwork was low on Vit D. But I already knew that and was already supplementing.

Another instance recently where the inertia returned for about a week, I looked back and realized I'd bought a store brand of Vit D3 because it was on sale (from Sam's Club) and I had swapped the day or two before I got back into the laziness pattern. I sat on my rear for better part of a week. :( Made me somewhat unhappy to sit on my rear but I seemed to just sit.

So I swapped back to a better brand of Vit D3 and within the next day I was back to healthy activity. Seriously. You could say that the last instance was placebo effect but honestly I don't think it was. Because I realized all these things retroactively. And for me, if it makes me better, I'll take placebo effect!

So anyway, if this helps someone else look at their bloodwork... or maybe someone else is very sensitive to Vit D... and then Leslie posted recently about the correlation with Vit D and depression. So I thought I'd mention that. ( I was not emotionally or psychologically depressed, I hasten to add. But the deficit was causing some type of physical effect. )

Forgive me copying this over from the other beginners' group this morning. I want to get out to the store...

Good Morning, Happy Juicing Buds! I thought I'd report on my juicing the last couple of days...

    We juiced Thursday afternoon.

Yield from the centrifugal for 15lbs organic carrots, 3 large org cukes, and 3 bunches organic celery, and one bunch of good-sized beet roots == 11 servings.

Then the pressings of the pulp gave us another yield of 6 servings.

17 servings is a bit much for us as we'll juice again Sunday morning. So I sent one serving in to one of my husband's coworkers to return a kindness; he is health conscious and I was told he liked the juice. Will send another to a family member during a visit.

Meanwhile, I do enjoy coasting along with juice in the fridge, ready for need. :)

I need to make it to Sprouts or send someone today for juicing produce for tomorrow. I'm "streetready" and thinking I'll go myself this morning while everyone else is still abed. I do like being in the store very early when they've just got the produce out. Sprouts here also has lively music on their system sometimes. I find myself singing along or bouncing, lol, so it's best when a lot of customers are not around. Yes, I'm an early morning person. lol

And that's the news from Lake Juice-be-Gone, lol. Maybe it should be Lake Fat-Be-Gone or something? (Remembering Garrison Keillor and Lake Woebegone of radio past. Ignore me. )

    Be well and juice on!

Leslie, lol.i think poison , it seriously is poison with heavy levels of cholesterol for me. i might not be that obese ,or even thin, but overweight people can have morbid levels of cholesterol, it is our own body metabolism.i am not feeling deprived, of food, i am feeling deprived of good health actually, when i see people who can climb mountains, go rafting, eat as they please and remain slim, it is arghhhhhhhh, it is i have to remind myself how big my butt is , and how my jeans does not fit me, and i can also remind myself, in december 2017, how i felt, when the skirt elastic, fitted so well, perfectly, when i lost some weight then.i had lost considerable weight then.

i strongly agree goal oriented behaviour helps, , but i get disappointed, if i don't lose such amount of weight in such an such time., anyway i still have an whole year.

robin, thanks gal. soose contine juicing. though i don't like beets, it helps in increasing blood count .sunny rain hope you are doing well, which you would leader.

I feel your frustration iamFIT! I have a terribly hard time losing weight due to a pituitary tumor and on occasion I will begin to lose weight steadily only to have that reverse and come to a halt. It is so discouraging that I will add in foods I have not been eating to my diet, only to see my weight go up. Thinking what is the use! And, for some reason I just can't seem to get back on track right away and then I am up in weight even with continuing to exercise, and my diet truly was not that horribly changed. Do you take any supplements? Have you had your vitamin D levels checked? Lower your goal to something like I will lose 1 lb (2.2 kg) this week and if you lose more that is a mental boost! If that is not working go for half the next week. Eat as many vegetables as you want, fill yourself with them. always eat green leafy vegetables first during a meal then the steamed ones before you go on to eating anything else. Chef AJ says that her weight loss was boosted by eating green leafy vegetable in the morning. So maybe a morning salad with a little fruit on top and DiAnn's Strawberry dressing. I am planning to try out that advice and see if it helps me. I lost 40 lbs my first juice fast and kept if off for months only to gain 20 lbs back over a 3 month period. I have lost 6 of the 20 I gained, so 14 to go to get back, however I still need to lose another 30 lbs to be where I want to be. 44 lbs seems too much to think about so I am focusing on the 14 for now, then will focus on another 14 to be where I was before I went to a desk job. I was always the slender one in the family growing up. Baby steps when I want instant gratification! Oh to go to bed and wake up slim and trim and in good health! If only.

Good afternoon Happy Juicers! I am on day 3 of the Prolon plan. I got up no hunger this morning, did a few chores around the house then went out for my walk. I did not feel motivated to go at all today so I got on my phone and invited 10 people to a goal day challenge. Everyone wins if they make their goal, however it pushes you to make your goal at least whether it is 4,000 or 10,000 steps or more or even less it is a start. I figured at least I would make my goal (10,000 steps) I am right now at 14,000 steps yay for me. If I hadn't started a challenge or been asked to join one (I am in a week long challenge as well), I probably would not have made my goal today.
