Someone asked me about what I'm doing and asked how many calories I'm getting. When I added it up, it was a little shocking. It's about 413 calories a day. That's not much. I'm not hungry, cold or tired as I've seen some people mention on other groups. The only problem I've found is my eyes are EXTREMELY dry and sore, beyond the help of regular drops and my face is feeling sore from dryness too and I've never had dry skin on my face - hands, yes, but face is always well oiled. So then I read somewhere that it's important to keep up your water intake, which one can end up taking in less of as a side effect of all the juice drinking. Also, increasing good fats, none of which I'm having. This is what I've been doing for my reboot: 3 juices a day, 3 plain green teas a day, an orange and 1 rib of celery with a bit of cheese on it, plus some water. I am not hungry at all, blood pressure is going way down from being always high, blood sugars feel fine (although I haven't been measuring), and I have normal energy. People expressed concern, I, myself am not sure. Hope it's ok because I've been very happy with this so far.

    Lalune,

You may want to ask the nutritionist on this website about your calories. I know I read somewhere, that your body can go into starvation mode if you are not getting enough calories and stop the weight loss. Just something to think about. My husband has asked them several questions, when things have come up we aren't sure regarding juices. I have enjoyed the juices mostly. I don't have a fond taste for the collard greens. I would rather due spinach. It is not as strong. I know it is better then the kale but kale is good for me and I will juice it. Have some of you noticed in the book 101 juices some of the juices under red or orange do not stay that color when juiced. Mine do not always look like the book.

Day 6 for me and I've lost 7.6 lbs. I think it's all off my face :) Today I'm out of kale, green apples and cabbage, so I'm trying to find recipes to use up the things I still have lots of: carrots and spinach. So for breakfast I found this recipe, Carrot Spinach Apple: 1 small handful parsley, 2 apples, 2 handfuls of spinach, 2 carrots.

I wasn't getting a ton of juice out of the spinach, so the yield on the whole thing was a bit small. I actually doubled it so I'll have breakfast done for tomorrow.

I went into this one thinking it was going to taste too much like carrot and wasn't sure about the combo. But GUESS WHAT! It is actually my favourite so far!

VERDICT: Surprisingly wonderful! I'll have another please! :)

Well Lalune, I always lose it in my boobs first. Not exactly where I wanted it to leave when you think it could have come off my stomach, hips & butt. If only we could take a sharpie and mark where we want it to come off first. At least it's leaving right.

Day 5! I decided to use up the rest of the stinky cabbage since it was garbage day and made a juice from a post I saw on the site's Facebook page. It's Wintermint Green. I didn't have mint, not even mint extract(!), so I threw in a handful of fresh parsley and some dried mint (which I don't think did anything, duh, so I ended up sprinkling it into the drinkable portion. The recipe is: 1/4 green cabbage, 6 romaine (cos) lettuce leaves, 1/2 cucumber, 1 inch ginger, 4 sprigs of fresh min, 1 pear.

I was brave this time and used the WHOLE cucumber whereas on the last recipe that called for it, I chickened out and put half. The whole is fine. The recipe yields a generous output of juice.

    Is that green, or what?!

VERDICT: It was fine, but would be MUCH better with MINT! :)

Day 4 and I've lost 5 lbs. Woo! This morning I started with the Clean Green Elixir. It's the last of my kale and it was beginning to look a bit limp. I was short a couple of leaves so I added the tail end of some romaine lettuce (the recipe called for 10 leaves of kale). 1/2 lemon, 1 pear, 1 1/2 green apple (I ran out of those too, so I used 2 macintosh).

The recipe said it was two servings, and in spite of my substitutions being about the same and more, I only got one serving of about 320mL. I usually get about 350mL for a single and that was supposed to be a double.

VERDICT: I like the taste. The lemon and apple are great for a little morning zing.

For dinner I made Crisp and Clean Green, and actually doubled it up so I could use that giant cabbage I have in the fridge, so 2x: 2 pears, 6 leaves romaine, 1/4 head green cabbage, 1 inch ginger.

Doubling the recipe made my drink for dinner, plus three more 12oz drinks for upcoming meals. I'm not a cabbage eater at all and it did actually stink of cabbage in the juicer. But the drink is OK. The pears save the day here.

VERDICT: It's fine. There is only a hint of the cabbage taste, the rest is a decent blend with the sweetness of the pears coming through.

The green drink was okay. It had kale, collard greens, cucumber, parsley, apple & ginger. Maybe orange would have made it better. But it was good for me.

I am finding, so far, that my choice in recipes has been OK. Some modifications, like you've wondering, will really make this work. I don't think it takes much to tilt the "yuck" over to "good".

    lalune,

It was from his 101 juice book. 1 red pepper, 3 carrots, 1/2 lemon,1 orange. We doubled it for my husband and I except for the pepper. We just added one he has stomach issues. They have been better on juice so hopefully we will reboot that.

This morning we did an orange, red pepper and carrot drink that was pretty awesome. The one for lunch is green. I'll report back it has lots of kale and collards. Never had that before so it might be hard. I find that spinach is a little taster then the kale. So if you find that strong it might be a choice.

Interesting! I'll give that a try. Was it a specific recipe you tried from the site? I'd love to know the proportions. So far I've been thinking it's the green apples and lemon that is making my juices smell and taste nice. Yesterday I noticed that when I made my juice, it was the kale that I put in first and it was the KALE that was giving off that nice smell I had been noticing! Big surprise to me. LOL what a discovery this Reboot diet is going to be! Let us know what your green lunch is and how it went! :)
