Still Always Hungry!

Reboot Newbies

Posted by Rhiannon on 4 years ago

it's day 9 out of what I had hoped to be 30 days of juice only fasting. Today is the first day I have questioned whether or not I can actually make it to day 30.

I don't know why it's so hard to day, but it is. I want to eat. I'm feeling rather consumed with the thought of eating. I told myself if I could do day 8 , I could do day 9. And when I've done day 9 I will be able to tell myself "if you did day 9, you can do day 10."

It's just so hard feeling so hungry. I'm doing one almost exclusively green veggie juice in the mornings and I'm doing usually a carrot and apple or carrot and orange one for lunch. At night I am doing a variety, nothing consistent, but trying to do the 20/80 veggie: fruit ratio.

Anyone have experience with hunger that sticks around?

if i read this correctly you are juicing 3 times a day ?

you may do better to juice 5 - 6 times a day drinking smaller batches. i have found that hunger is not an issue when i am 1) juicing or 2) busy.

    best of luck !

yes, I'm doing just 3 a day. But I can try 6 smaller ones. Just hate to always clean the juicer! Hahaha :-)

    Thanks!

i dont clean the juicer every time. In fact, I clean it once (evening), and by cleaning I mean throwing away the pulp, nothing else. i just let pulp sit there until the juicer is full. This gives me about 4 16 oz glasses. Then I throw pulp away in the evening, make one more juice and wash the juicer.

I was struggling with thoughts of food until day 12. I started researching and found out that if you are lactating (even if not breastfeeding), hunger may not go away. In my case, it still did. So you might want to google to see if there is something that can explain your hunger, too.

I am finishing day 16 and haven't had a single craving since then. It actually seems like I lost interest in food altogther. Personally, I don't like it, it seems anorexic to me! I am also sort of afraid of breaking fasting now, I don't know how my body will react and I dont know what to eat, nothing seems appetizing.

I TOTALLY understand that. I have an Omega J8006, which is actually really easy to clean, but I still hate having to do all the prep work and cleaning.

What I have started doing is making large batches of juice and drinking them over the next couple of days. I am currently doing a hybrid reboot. I juice until dinner and then eat fruits/veggies for dinner. Joe has some good recipes in his reboot book.

If you are still really hungry, it means you're not drinking enough juice or you REALLY need to eat. I finally had to come to grips with the idea that I could not subsist on juice alone. My weight loss is more gradual this way, but I feel much better than when I last tried an all-juice fast.

i know what you mean. i just decided that the juicer doesn't need a full soap-and-hot-water wash and scrub after each use. now i am just rinsing it thoroughly then a full wash at the end of the day.

I just wash my juicer once a day!

I second the juicer washing. I just hot water rinse and wipe down, after my last juicing of the night (I have 4 per day) I give it a good scrubbing. Keep up the great work, you've come this far :). Are you also drinking any herbal tea or doing the morning 16 oz hot water? If not you might want to give that a try.

I just got through juicing 8 batches of juice and am planning on freezing half of them so I don't have to worry about using the juicer everyday. Joe says if you are going to freeze your juice you have to do it immediately after juicing.

I hope you meant 80/20 Veggie/Fruit ratio rather than the other way around because that would be wrong :)

I am drinking a TON of herbal (no caffeine) tea! I am a coffee drinker and need something hot in a mug. :)

My juicer seems to really need a good cleaning each time. I have a Jack LaLanne one (the mesh is always a 3 minute scrub job). I want a better juicer, but juicing is already far out of my budget. I have found a cold pressed organic green juice at Costco (just under 60oz for $8) and I am drinking that to help with my juicer woes (less cleaning and I can get greens in -my juicer is not good enough to extract greens well).

SD, I am laughing at my typo. YES! I am doing mostly veggies and less fruit.

Yesterday I juiced more fruit (I added in a just fruit one) to help me "keep going." The green juice taste made me cry last night. I am quite sick of it. Hahahaha I might try ending the day with a just fruit 6 oz juice like a dessert and to have a few more calories (maybe why I am so hungry?).

Thanks everyone. I am on day 10 and really want to quit. I am trying to not let myself entertain the thought, but ...

Rhiannon, I was hungry in the beginning but then added more juice (at least 16 oz. 5x/day) and that helped. I'm not hungry anymore except when I go to bed at night. (And then I drink some water and feel fine.) Could you make 2-3 servings each time you juice so you don't have to juice as often? I just juice 3x/day. I make an orange for bfast and since it's 2 servings, I use the other one for my after dinner snack. I make my mean green for lunch and since it's 2 servings, I use the other for dinner. And then I make a yellow for my after lunch snack. And I just clean my juicer at the end of the day. I also have the Jack LaLanne. I push the greens through with a cuke or apple and that helps make sure they get chopped up more. Do you add ginger to your mean green? I add 2 inches and it completely makes all the difference. I am on day 9 right now and my resolve is also weakening a bit. I'm literally just about to watch FSND again right now and am hoping it motivates! You can do it, you have come SO FAR already!

I have a Jack too, and mine seems to do well with geens, but I agree thar mesh is a piece of work. I am preparing my self to go all out with juice, I still eat once a day... its hard to bring juice with me. Any advice?

I guess it really depends on your body, I just drank a mean green and have no desire to eat anything at all.
