Posted by TeelaHerman.com on 6 years ago I will be starting a 40 day juicing fast to go along with lent. Is anyone else out there planning the same thing? This will be my first fast so I am going to need lots of support.

Hi, My son and I started for lent too, so we're on day 2. He's going for 15 days and I'll try the whole 40 days. Haven't had good enough willpower to make any diet for 40 days so far, but maybe with the support of you guys I can make it.

Kiki! Don't feel bad! My day has turned around and I am feeling great! I just made lunch and figured for 16 oz of my drink, it cost me $2.25. I am so glad to see more people in here!!!

Oh and Kiki, that's a great idea about not talking about any foods other than juicing. I didn't think about it and now I am going to see if I can edit my reply. I am sorry for not thinking before posting and I appreciate you bringing it to my attention. :)

Hello, everybody! Day #1: After a long morning running around, I finally got back home and just had my "breakfast" around 2:30 this afternoon. By that time I was starving (bad plan!), but my first juice was good: Spinach Blueberries Little Gala apples I would give that a solid A. Super good! Still hungry half an hour later, and on to juice #2: Spinach a pear 2 tangerines strawberries. This one earned a B. It was good, but not that good! I got a zillion different kinds of fruit/vegetables (they had fancy european cucumbers, 5 for a dollar) for $20. Question: Is it possible to gain weight while juicing? So far today, I've juiced 4 apples, 2 tangerines, a cup or two of strawberries and some blueberries. Is this a bad idea?? Teela--you remind me a lot of me. Working in the classroom, caring for everybody--the mom who gets the pizzas--and the fact that you like variety in your juicing. I bet we have a lot in common!

Hi Pam!! I'm not sure if its possible to gain weight while fasting on juice or not but from what I understand, if you are drinking more fruit juice than vegetable juice consistently, that can be bad. I've seen most people say you need an 80/20% veggie/fruit ratio. However, I've seen a lot of people say that during the first week, if they needed to add more fruit to make the juice appealing, they would do that just so they wouldn't cave and give up. That's what I'm doing right now. I made a sweet and tart limeade with some spinach. Is more of a 20/80 ratio but it's my late night Valentine's snack. For my "meals" though, I make sure to pack them with more vegetables. I really do like my variety. I don't think I've ever made the same recipe (for me) twice. The kids love an apple, orange and a carrot so I make that one a lot but I just really like to mix it up. The morning was rough but by about 10 am, things were looking up and I finished off the day strong. I'm ready to face tomorrow!! How about you?

Oh, and as far as amount, I usually drink 3 (16-24 oz each) meals a day packed with veggies and then 1-2 smaller snack (fruit based) drinks. I hope this helps. I also hope someone else who's actually fasted before will come in and offer some words of wisdom.

Day two was a lot better. Thank you Liz for your encouragement when I needed it. I missed church last night due to the headache of the century. I ended up taking 6 Advil yesterday and they didn't help at all. Now I have to detox those as well! I had a cup of green tea this morning and that made all the difference for me. I know that we are technically not allowed to have caffeine- BUT if that's the difference between me making it 40 day then green tea it is. At least it wasn't the 6 cups of coffee I usually have. Also I lost 5 pounds!!! Bring on day 3!!!! Oh. today I had Morning Sunrise juice for breakfast, Green Mean with added parsley for lunch and Dracula's Dream juice made with strawberries instead of oranges for dinner. In between I have been drinking water.
