PUTTING AWAY THE SCALE during your reboot

Group Reboots

Posted by kate.the.warrior on 4 years ago

I'm constantly drawn to the scale and it's a compulsion I need to control. This is April 5 and day-20 of 60. I need to focus on something other than the scale. I have a big balance scale and it's being put deep into the back of our coat closet today. Whether you're doing a short or long reboot.....and want to try NOT to weigh yourself until the end, please join me for support. No food talk, please as it can throw people off track when reading a "food" post.

Day-20...did not weigh today. Had my breakfast juice and am heading off to drink my quart of lime water.

I totally understand, I need to stop obsessing myself. I know for a fact my inches melted a lot faster then pounds. Although I am losing a good amount of pounds I feel like I am getting back to obsessing over pound per pound! I am on day 27/40 (I just stretched it to 40 instead of 30 yay!).

I am in the same boat and the only way I could stay away from the scale was if I told my husband to hide it. So the other day I asked him can I have the scale and he told me that he had taken it all the way across town to his shop. Lol! He won't bring it back. The only way I can weigh myself is if I go to the gym and use the scale there.

Hi Kate - thank you for starting this. I love this idea as the scale makes me crazy. Off now for my lunch juice. Have a great day.

Day-21 went by without a hitch. It was calming to know that my scale is gone for now - it's sort of like the pressure is off.

I totally agree!! I have not looked at the scale since starting the juice fast and I'm not letting myself look until it's over! It's hard because I'm so curious, but it really doesn't matter right?! It's not like I'm going to stop if it isn't showing what I want to see. Weight fluctuates like crazy anyways and sometimes it takes a while for the scale to catch up with whats really happening so I'm watching how my body changes instead. It's more rewarding to feel my clothes get looser anyhow!

I don't have a scale but I have been using the fit of my clothes to judge my weight. I noticed a shift in fit in the first week but nothing now, I'm on day 17 of 60 which is discouraging. I will use this stratagie and not fixate on the fit of my clothes.

The scale is just a mind f-ck and can be discouraging because we all lose weight at different rates and ultimately the goal is to eat healthier and feel healthier and a number shouldn't dictate any of that. I weighed myself at the beginning of my fast and haven't looked since. 6 days later my clothes feel weigh different (see what I did there? ;) ) and I feel better physically and mentally.
