Newbie - 8 days in and FEEL GREAT !

Group Reboots

Greetings from Minneapolis!

I'm on day 8 and I feel GREAT !

I adapted just fine - and am doing it the way Joe did on Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. I'm 100% Juicing. NO solids. To date I am doing all Mean Green - along with a Carrot/Orange every other day.

I have 50 pounds to lose - and so really need to keep my eye on the target if I am going to do this! I came at this as a 'closet' smoker (no longer) and ready to get in the car to Dairy Queen on a whim at 11pm... so I was GREEN GREEN GREEN on eating well.

For Me - it became Real Easy after watching "Forks Over Knives" - and "Foodmatters" on Netflix. (may be on You Tube also). Taking the approach of more than just losing weight is the key for me... changing my life for reasons that I can relate to. And both these shows - and others I have watched since make a lot of sense to me.

Hey I could stumble - and even crash and burn - so I am really just taking it one day at a time and I will be looking to YOU to help me up... Start 183 - Today 174 - Essentially 1 pound a day - and I am nourishing my body with GOOD FOOD. :)

Kathryn thanks for posting. I love reading about people doing great on this. I am on day one and although it is 7:30 I am thinking about going to bed. Tell me the tiredness goes away.....

The first day can be the worst, I remember my first 10 days after watching the documentary I felt so lethargic and just wanted to stay in bed ALL DAY! It gets better!!!

Hello Jean Bean - It does get better - but for me If I improvise I start to 'sway away' - and so my idea of a good time is to keep it really really simple. Mean Green 3 x / day (16-20 oz) - and so far I have had only 2 drinks of 1 orange and a fist full of carrots. I wants to stay on Green for the weight loss - and figure when I am bored of it - I will change out one meal... I don't know why I didn't go thru laggy days - maybe I did and didn't notice... I'm 40 (was 50 !) pounds overweight - but I rarely ever got headaches or other... I really like my time in the kitchen juicing. I never liked to cook - but this I can get into to. I relax into it - and just think about how good it is for me... I am a very curious person - and have been all over netflix and youtube watching food and juicing shows. THAT really makes all this make sense - if I don't change my relationship with food - I'll lose it - and gain it all back... When you come to know the TRUE Value of what you are doing - it will be SO EASY. If you are inquisitive like me... go for the gold - watch The Gerson Miracle (you tube and netflix) - it is and hour and a half - and if you get to the end - you will come out with a real understanding of what these fruits and vegetables will do for you - and me - and all of us! Keep Coming Back!

Hi Kathryn, your post is very encouraging. How many days are you planning on doing? I'm also doing mean green at least once a day, that and the tomato juice recipe are my faves.

    Hello djohnson711 !

I'm in it to win it - I'm following the same plan as JOE. Goal: 60 Days ! I'm planning for after that already - and so I look at recipes and plan meals a lot! I NEVER did this before. EVER. I fell upon Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead on Netflix during the last week of January. Researched - and agonized about which Juicer to buy - ended up with the one Joe used... and suddenly it was day one! Yikes. You should have seen me at the grocery store - maybe like you were - I followed the recipe for Mean Green - and loaded up a three day supply and felt so proud of my Supersized Grocery Cart of LOVE for ME ! I was almost in tears as I proudly pushed my cart to he checkout!!! I spent an entire weekend with movies about FOOD and JUICING - and then watched I "The Gerson Miracle" (my favorite)- I cried so hard for the loss of my mother to cancer ... and it didn't need to end the way it did... you'll understand if you watch the movie. If you want to change your relationship with food - Joe really has given us a gift to start - but don't stop with that... keep learning. Enforce what your goal is every day and you will do great. We need you here. Your being here - and sharing with me - inspires me to keep coming back. Every Day In Every Way - I Am Feeling Better And Better - And SO ARE YOU !

My husband and I got the same juicer as well after he extensively researched different options. Not that I have other ones to compare it to, but we absolutely love it and I have no complaints. We've had ours for over a year now. Does the checker at the grocery store give you weird looks too when you check out with a cart full of nothing but fruits and veggies? Haha, I always wonder what they're thinking. :)

Haha ... I go to different store every time so I can see what each stores Produce Department is like. I also look online for the "Cub Foods" and "Whole Foods" sales ... and if they are on 'my' ingredients - that's where I go. I'm surprised but ONLY the Whole Foods check out person said "Juicing?" - I gave her a BIG GRIN and said YES I AM ... :) I do put my fiber back thru the juicer for a 2nd run... makes a wonderful mess - but I yield between 2-5 ounces more juice! Bring it on !
