Natural Laxative

I was needing to know what options there are for a good natural laxative during a juice only reboot. I have tried "smooth move" tea and had a little luck but not the bowel movement I think I should expect. As it stands, I am having maybe one small bowel movement a day and I think it could be backing up my system and causing slow weight loss. Maybe this little bowel movement is normal but I wouldn't think so????

If you are having a bowel movement every day, that is good, many miss days at a time, I know I do. They will be small (sorry TMI here but someone else here on the forum mentioned like bullets, and it is correct!) because we are taking in no solids on the juice only reboot you will have little to excrete so don't worry. Apparently most of your loss will happen through urination, which personally I never miss a day in fact pretty much on the hour. :)

Perhaps the nutritionist will respond again but I would not take the smooth move for many reasons. One reason outside the laxatives it contains which could interfere, we are not meant to have caffine on the reboot, this could slow your progress down.

I saw your ingredients on your other post and in my opinion it does appear to be a lot of fruit which is a lot of sugar. Your taste will change and perhaps in time you can lower your fruit and increase your green veg. Good luck

At some point in my reboot (I don't remember the exact day) I started adding chia seeds to my juices. This really helped with BMs and it didn't have any adverse effects on my weight loss.

I checked the label before I purchased the smooth move, it has no caffeine, and the ingedients are just herbs to help digestion, I didn't see why this would be a problem considering the reboot plan calls for a herbal hot tea at night anyways???

Hopefully, the nutritionist will respond and explain, perhaps she would agree with you. I for one cannot take anything even tablet form that contains senna when eating normally. I end up with a rash on my face and very bad upset stomach. So in the past I had to use laxatives that were senna free. I wasn't aware that smooth move was caffeine free but I do believe some of the natural herbs like senna are worse than the natural tea leaf containing caffeine.

    Hello ecollin479,

You can take the smooth move to help things along as part of the detox process. Taking in chia seeds is also another option that works well. You will experience slower bowel emptying as you are taking in less fibre overall and food so the movements will be reduced.

If you feel you are backing up and you feel as if you need to go then I would certainly recommend some assistance. Here is a post that lists a bunch of things you can do to help this situation - http://www.rebootwithjoe.com/faq-what-about-constipation/
