Juicy veg suggestions?

Reboot Newbies

I'm doing a juice diet again after a 3yr break but find myself adding a cucmber to nearby every juice to bulk it up. I juice a wide range of veg of various colours, but am struggling to find juicy veg. I'm not fastidious about measurements. Any suggestions appreciated.

Try jicama. It's a Mexican root and you can find it in just about any grocery store in their produce department

Get a nice smooth skinned one. You csn tell fresh ones from ones that have been sitting around. They'll get wrinkly and ugly.

Thanks for the suggestions mizmo. Our local shops have many exotic vegetables, but I've never seen it before. Its not easily available in the UK.

Some of the best juices come from the most ordinary of vegetables. Carrot Apple is a time honored juice, and there are many variations:

    6 carrots
    1 Apple

You can drink it as-is, as it is very good for you. Carrot juice is one of the best juices to drink.

Expand on it with a handful of parsely, or a small handful of brocolli, or some celery.

If you are juicing for weight loss, go easy on the carrots. There is a HUGE difference in the juices we drink for weight loss, and the juices we drink for health.

My go-to weight loss juice starts with the above apple-carrot mix, and to that I simply add one cucumber. It thins it out so the calorie count is low, but it retains the delicious apple-carrot flavor. And again, you can add various green vegetables to it to spice things up.

If I'm juicing for health, not weight loss, I don't add the cucumber. Cucumber is used in weight loss juices because it bulks up the juice, buffers unpleasant tasting green vegetables, and greatly reduces the calorie count of the juice (compared to juices without cucumber). Kale by itself is a disgusting nasty tasting juice. But add it to a glass of apple-carrot-cucumber, and you have a delicious healthy juice.

What do you guys think about cabbage?

I'm juicing a whole cabbage almost daily now, it makes up a big bulk in my juice.

I alternate daily with red then green cabbage, it's super cheap, and adds alot of liquid.

The other veggies that add bulk to the juice is carrots, celery cucumber and broccoli, which I always add to just about any juice I make.

I watched a guy online cure his prostate cancer by just drinking a glass of broccoli juice every day.

What's wrong with my cabbage suggestion?

Thanks NSreboot. I've got a white cabbage in the fridge, so will give it a try. I'll buy a red cabbage tomorrow to try that too, thanks.

Thanks Zootal, but I'm trying to avoid cucumbers! I am juicing for weight loss, hence needs ideas to NOT reply on cucumbers to bulk out veggie juices. Although I do include root vegetables, I'm aware of how much sugar they contain, so dont overdo them. Do you have suggestions for other, juicy veg that aren't cucumbers?
