Juicing with PCOS

Reboot Newbies

Posted by schikerotis7 on 5 years ago Hey everyone :) I'm preparing to start my first juice fast on Sunday. I'm going to start with 10 days (but in the end I'm shooting for 60.) I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 14, and since then it's been a huge battle in my life. Now, 6 years later, I'm 120 pounds overweight, I haven't had my period in 3 years, and I cannot handle the birth controls or Metformin that my doctor has put me on. My goal for juicing is to not only lose weight, but to hopefully help my PCOS and get me back on track. My doctors have already been throwing the words "infertility" and "hysterectomy" around, which, at 20, is not comforting at all. Have any other ladies who suffer from PCOS seen their side effects or symptoms diminish since they started juicing? Are there any juices that might help more, or is it really all the same? I'm nervous, but excited! Thanks :)

I also have PCOS and am on Metformin. I'm a newbie too and will hopefully be ready to start my juice fast on Sunday as well. :) So, I can't really answer your questions, but thought I'd let you know I'm in the same boat! ~Deb

Hi Sandy My name is Melisa. I also have PCOS and I am sick of the side effects of metformin. I watched FSND and thought this would help to get my life back on track as well. I'm starting tomorrow. I'm just wondering how your progress is going? Have you been able to stop taking metformin? Thank you Melisa

My 17 yr old daughter was just dx with PCOS after several years of telling her previous dr I knew she had it w/o any tests. Guess what MOM was right. Anyway we have started doing gluten free and hormone free while we wait on our juicer to get here. So far she has lost 7 lbs and I've lost 11 lbs. Our juicer should be here on the 10th. Pat

I have PCOS too. It's such a horrible diagnosis to have. I suffer really badly with my sugar levels, my skin, cramps, blood circulation, premature aging, and body temperature adjustments. I'm also doing this cleanse to try and cure myself of it. I've read a few blogs of women who say they have completely cured themselves. I believe the body can definitely cure itself given the right circumstances. I'm on day 10 now and I feel great. I'm aiming for 60 days and then I will continue juicing everyday to get the micronutrients. My doctor put me on Spironolactone a few years ago but after a year or so of taking it I decided to stop and just continue taking the pill. The side effects and toxic feeling I got from taking the medication just wasn't worth it. I have also read recently that stinging nettle juice is really helpful for PMS symptoms and fertility! I'm going out today to pick some. I've also started doing dry brushing which stimulates blood circulation and lymphatic systems. Exercise also incredibly INCREDIBLY helpful too.

Discpain you're such a good mum to endure the battle with your daughter and start cleansing with her! Much love and luck to both of you.

Hi: I have PCOS & couldn't have children as a result - treatment came too late. However, I do know that cutting carbs right down can see a real improvement in yr symptoms. Mine totally disappeared 5 years ago & saw a scan of my ovaries - no more cysts. I'd really recommend this juice diet to anyone who wants to help clear up PCOS. You do need to exercise too, at least 3 times a day. Good luck to everyone! BTW I'm on day 3 of my detox, aiming to go for 7 days then combine juicing with healthy soups, salads etc afterwards.
