Greeting to all from sunny Florida! On my 60 day juicing reboot for health, Day 40. Hoping i can cure my diabetes and actually have energy for my up comming retirement. I am 58 years old and want to reclaim my life back and hopefully get healthy in the process. (yes, I was inspired by Joe Cross' fat sick tired film. Thanks Joe!) I have been very diligent in my diet. I did drink some cabbage soup broth a couple of days ago and thought that was the taste of heaven. funny, I hate cabbage soup. Am I destined to drink prune juice and take geritol for my old age? lol The real question is...........what am i gonna eat after my 60 day reboot? I hate vegetables. such is life. Best of luck to all!

Robert

Good job! I'm only on day three but I have the same issues that's made start this program . 40 of 60 is outstanding… I'm sure will enjoy vegetables when day 61 comes...

Take two: I just typed a reply and lost it so hope this one takes. The short version of what I wrote is that I want to recommend an amazing book on flavor called "The Dorito Effect." It is an historical overview of the two trends of mass producing food (like tomatoes or chicken) and losing the flavor in the process AND the advent of MSG and artificial flavors. Our tastebuds and what we think we like have been massively hijacked by marketing and processed food producers. One study that the author shares is on old one where a researcher did an experiment on orphans (clearly not allowable today) but these abandoned and severely ill orphans were allowed to chose their own food; both the quantity and selection. The foods offered were highly nutritious and prepared with no salt or flavorings of any kind. Remarkably the very young children had the internal wisdom to select just the right food to heal themselves of some very serious illnesses. For example, the ill children willingly drank cod-liver oil until they were well and then never touched it again. It turns out that our body has the most complex and fantastic system of taste buds, digestion, and cravings (or desire) for food. Just the fact that you mentioned you don't like vegetables but surprisingly found the cabbage soup to taste like "heaven" is a perfect example!!!

Hi All, I haven't started my reboot yet but I've been doing a lot of research and watching a massive amount of You Tube testimonies. I'm excited to get going on it now that my Juicer has arrived at my door. Are any of you doing a "Mean Green" only juice? A co-worker told me he did nothing but Mean Green for 45 days and was steering me in that direction however from what I have seen online a reboot can be a mix of juice of fruit and veggies that are of other colors than green is that true? Secondly, I've read that any reboot over 15 days should include a form of protein however I've read mixed reviews on the protein powder (Chalky) thoughts???

mrkomo I'm not an "official" person with all the answers but I would encourage you to approach the reboot in a way that makes sense to you. What works for one person, doesn't necessarily agree with another. If all the colors of the rainbow are calling you...then I would answer that call. Regarding protein, I have been a fairly strict vegan my entire adult life but as I approach age 60 I started developing some stiffness in my hands. I began taking a powdered bone broth and it has been working wonders. Now bone broth should be drunk warm and it has a pleasing savory quality with no chalkiness. Also sometimes a warm savory drink adds a welcome counterpoint to cold juices. Good luck!

robertglenn, Great Job! Sounds like you are well on your way to a happy healthy retirement! As for your concern with after the 60days are up, "I hate vegetables. such is life."

Try the fruits and veggies, but you can always still juice the veggies. Legumes are excellent along with all types of beans. I find myself trying all sorts of salads, cole-slaws and soups that I never before thought I would like, but find my taste buds have changed and I crave them.

Examples: Sweet Kale Cabbage Slaw, 3 Bean Salads, Lentil Red Pepper Soup, etc...

Hope this helps, keep up the good work! Don't give up or turn back.
