End of Day 3

Free for All

Well, day 3 is in the books and I feel pretty good. I have a very slight and short headache every now and again but solid. I was struggling with the green drinks but added a few ice cubes and what a huge difference! I drank it without an issue.

Aside from that, my goal was to juice for 7 days. Last evening I ate a carrot and some broccoli (both steamed). I felt guilty as hell honestly but put behind me.

Today it was suggested that I weigh myself. Unfortunately, I did not weigh myself prior to starting on Monday. Instead, I weighed myself yesterday. I lost 5.2lbs in 24 hours. It didn't seem real and in fact, I still doubt it but it was the same scale and same time of day.

I wonder what effects eating steamed or raw veggies at night will have on me with my reboot. Clearly it is way better than a pizza or cheeseburger but really ... is it a big deal when it comes down to it ?

Anyway ... please have a safe day and juice on !

By the way ... to date, I have not had any of the fatigue, hunger or aches and pains. I can't help but wonder if I am actually detoxing or not.

One thing I do have is a funny taste in my mouth. It was almost like being hungover.

Technically, a reboot is a juice fast with no solid food at all, so you were cheating when you had the steamed broccoli but hey....you're only human and its not like you had a Quarter Pounder with Cheese, right? Rebooting takes quite an adjustment and I don't know anyone personally who was able to do it correctly the first time. I know that Joe and Phil in the movie were able to reboot successfully without breaking for 60 days, but they also had a film crew monitoring their every movement, so that helped keep them on the wagon. If you want to try again, that's fine. Steamed broccoli is one of the healthiest foods that you can eat and it will do you no harm. Next time you attempt a reboot, do it for ten days and see if you can make it all the way through.

Shawn, it's a though first few days but once you get 3 days under you belt with no food, it gets easer to not eat. Your days so far are not wasted but "juicing only" changes your sytem and in my case, the desire to eat kinda goes away or at least lessens enough to be tollerable.

Hang in there and good job.

Shawn, obviously weight loss is the goal but try to focus more on getting and staying healthy and the weight loss will happen. If you were going to break a fast, at least you did it with something healthy. Like Danmcn61 said above you did break your fast by eating, but that's ok. Move on and start again. Your really need to stick to the juice fast if you expect to detox though. It really took me 4 days to detox and I felt like crap. After day 4 I felt amazing and have since. I completed 70 days of juice only fast last month and now on day 102 of my journey. Keep it up and Happy Juicing!

Still juice everyday and have maintained a plant based diet with the exception of the pizza incident in my blog. That was enough to keep me on track. I'm always trying new veggie dishes and in a pinch I will make black beans and brown rice. It's quick and healthy. I also make my own hummus with no salt or oil to snack on with veggies or I get baked whole wheat pita chips at the farmers market. Trying to stay away from salts, oils, and sugar in anything I eat.

Thanks for the input Jeff. One thing I have experienced over the past week is how absolutely awful I feel since I stopped juicing. I really had no idea how terrible I felt prior to juicing. A killer lesson and I am back at it tomorrow with a goal of ten days. -
