A juicer is preferred, because then you can take in the vegetable juice without the pulp. Juicers are not very expensive (you don't need the expensive ones until you have been doing this for awhile) but if you are in a financial bind right now, go ahead and use a blender until you can get a juicer.

Blenders just blend the fruit and veggies, but juicers remove all of the pulp so your body doesn't have to work to digest the fiber. Both are healthy, but a blender usually doesn't do well for actual juicing because you'd need to run all of the juice through a strainer and that gets really, really messy.

It all depends on your resources. I started out with a cheap Jack LaLane juicer that worked fine for a few months but finally burned out, so I upgraded to a Breville Juice Fountain that is just marvelous. Expensive, but worth every penny. I've heard great things about the Omega brand, so you'll probably be fine with them.

I didn't have a blender and did a 15-day fast with a blender. I did loose 5.5kg, but by the 15th day I was starting to feel really weak. I don't think one gets enough nutrients with a blender. I have now bought a juicer and started again on Monday and I am feeling much better this time round.

Blenders and Juicers are like fraternal twins. They are very similar, but still different from each other. Doing a proper reboot requires a juicer because you need to have lots of nutrient-rich juice going into your system quickly, while a blender is most appropriate for your new life after the reboot has been completed. A great blender, such as a Vita-Mix or a Blendtec, will be invaluable to you but you also need a good juicer also.

I also started off with a Hamilton Beach Big Mouth juicer and it died less than 2 weeks into my juice fast.

Then I moved up to Breville and was the #1 Breville Fan Girl....

Until Omega came into my life. Now, I would never have initially have spent nearly $300 on my first juicer.....I had to work my way up to this juicer but I am in love.
