Reboot Newbies

Day 1.....and I have questions

Reboot Newbies

Day 1 of my 10 day reboot....for now. I am hosting 2 parties & once those are both over, I'm planning on juicing for at least 30 days, possible 60. My doctor is on board with this plan.

I have a question though. With the hot water with lemon and/or ginger are we supposed to just put a slice of lemon & a slice of ginger in with the water or are we supposed to juice the lemon & ginger?

Also can we put ice cubes in with the juice to make it cold?

I woke up hungry this morning. Thats not a good sign I don't think. But I made water with a slice of lemon in it, then I made a burst of sun juice with 3 carrots & 2 oranges & a piece of ginger. Not sure what I'll have for a snack as of yet. I'm fortunate as I work from home, so I can go whip up a glass of juice quickly & then go back to work.

Have a great day everyone :)

Here are some answers that I just provided to another newbie.

I'm on Day#4 but did tons of research to prepare myself. Here are some answers to your questions from my research and knowledge thus far.

    1. If you're doing the true reboot you should do juicing only and add the blending aspect when your reboot is done. Basically you'll be consuming full juice without pulp.

    2. I've been making enough to cover 3 days worth for the sake of time and messy cleanup. Just store them in the fridge. They can also be frozen for up to 2-wks (from what I've read.)

    3. I've been doing 3-4 meals per day but you can do up to 5-6 I believe.

TIPS: Use minimal sweet potato (yam) because it's starchy. Use high yielding foods to fill your glass easier. Some are: celery, apples, oranges, carrots, romaine. I discovered I loathe the taste of kale so I've swapped it for spinach and any kind of dark greens. Check out the substitution list (under juicing.) Keep your juice really cold or serve over ice...seems to taste better. If you find your veggie drinks too "green" in taste just add a bit more fruit next time. Keep to an 80% veg, 20% fruit throughout your day. I tend to do that with each drink to keep it tasty. Fill your gaps with lots of water, buy some fancy herbal teas and I've found chewing sugarless gum or sucking on a scotch peppermint has helped with my hunger pangs. The first few days are NOT a great thrill. I had headaches, was very cranky and exceptionally tired and sluggish. Today feels a bit better.

p.s. Just put a slice of lemon and a slice of ginger in your cup.

    Best of luck to you!

You can either juice a lemon and piece of ginger and add hot water to it, or just add the slices to water. I sometimes just start with a ginger shot, which is 1" of ginger and 1 green apple - makes 2 shots, so share or put the other shot in the morning juice mixture. For dire hunger pains I eat a handful of cherry tomatoes. For me, I'm easing into it. I too work from home so it's very easy to get up and make juice, although I tend to make a mega batch to last for 2 days. I drink mine room temperature or on ice. When i need something hot I have herbal tea. If you have headaches, try peppermint tea, add a slice of orange to it. It typically wake up hungry, but it quickly subsides as soon as I get busy with something.

Thanks for that info VeganHerbalist. I'm hoping that I can stick to this for at least 10 days & then I want to try for 30 days starting Feb 2nd :)

I've been drinking peppermint tea and pina colado tea (both new from Tetley) and I find the peppermint really helps with my headaches. I also warmed my magic bag and laid it over my eyes for awhile which was also good.

I have lose tea leaves from Davids Tea....love it. They have so many different kinds. How often can we drink tea? Is it just once a day? I'm finding that I am getting a foggy brain right now & I'm itchy. Is that normal?

Foggy & Itchy are normal. My foggy brain dwindled away on Day 4 and is completely gone on Day 5. I don't have an herbal tea limit...i use it to fill the gaps or when I need a warm drink. :)
