Group Reboots

Posted by Destroyer on 2 years ago

This is a daily wellness/mental status check-in for everyone currently at any stage of a reboot. I figured that starting a thread for each week would help keep things organized, and hopefully these threads will provide an outlet for thoughts and ideas or venting frustrations with fellow juicers, as well as give people a place to post on a more regular basis to increase accountability for ourselves (and others) to give us a better chance at success!

Good luck this week, everyone!

Day 15. Threw together a sweet potato, carrot, orange juice this morning and it might be my favorite so far......

That does sound like an excellent morning juice. Sweet potatoes are awesome for juicing.

Day 16 is getting started. Had an off day yesterday just felt lethargic and like garbage. Hoping today is better, and it should be. I hope everyone is able to find success today!

I've also hit the dreaded "plateau." I drank an unholy amount of water yesterday to try and get over the hump, and luckily the scale has started to move in the right direction albeit slowly. Gonna try and drink more juice today--and more water to get things back on track.

Why is it that you never notice how many events and reasons to eat there are until you're on a juice fast?! Arg!! Been a rough couple of days! Gotta get my head in the right place again..

  • Destroyer

And its not just events, necessarily. For me, its an eye-opening experience on just how much my normal daily life revolves around eating and meal times. Its rough, for sure, but I'm managing to push through it. Food isn't going anywhere--it'll be around waiting for you to finish.

Yep, that's a fact.......We don't realize how much we center EVERYTHING around food. There's always going to be something and yes, most definitely Destroyer, food isn't going anywhere.....it will be waiting for us to finish!! A really good idea that's helped me is on Pinterest search weight loss inspiraltional quotes or healthy quotes......find one and print it or write it down and put it on your bathroom mirror, fridge, or wherever, be intentional, it helps!!

so true JAK! I'm laying low and feeling slightly anti-social though I did meet friends st Sbucks and brought my juice. I drove home feeling like...."hey, you did it!" So empowering!

talk about mothers day hahaha that hit me on my 6th day had a family dinner and i was with my juice everyone was teasing me to try the food out i didnt falter but the next day was the toughest cause i was craving all day smelling food that wasnt even there associating it to every sense that i have it was really tough. what i did was re-watch fat sick and nearly dead and it reminded me of my goal and it did the trick. cravings are the worst

  • JAK

Same goes here. Every single thing we do revolves around the meal, or so it seems. You are right, it will be there later. The cravings play tricks with your mind!

Day 17 and still going strong. The scale has officially slowed but is still moving in the right direction. Its a little discouraging, but I know if I stick with this, then the weight loss will continue. I'm still trying to vary my juice consumption in terms of amounts and times of day. I know before I was spacing my juices out to every 3 hours but I feel as though randomizing my consumption and making a conscious effort to get up and move around more may help kickstart things back to where they need to be. We shall see. I hope everyone else is still making progress!

Day 8 is over and 9th starting... Still going great. 6kg loss and feeling great. It is hard to be around people who eat what I used to enjoy very much, but I have tried to limit our big gatherings or at least being around them during dinner/lunch. It helps that they are understanding too and do not insist or comment... So been lucky for a great support.

Day 10 is approaching tomorrow and then long weekend is around the corner. Will definitely be a great challenge. I was thinking of rewarding myself after day 10 for 1 day and then continue to the next milestone of 30 days.

Folks who have had a cheat day in the middle, what do you think about this? I was thinking of keeping the cheat day limited to just vegetarian food. Maybe Juice in the morning. BBQed vegie for lunch and rice and steamed vegie for dinner.

At the same time, I want to make it a solid 30 day and I have a feeling that I can do it, but will be probably bored half way there....

I could hang in there until I really can't anymore and then cheat it? Hearing about your experiences or advises woudl be helpful.

All the best and Keep Juicing....

Hi Amir. I made it to day 12 (8 pounds lost), and allowed myself a healthy meat-free breakfast with my daughter for Mother's Day. I have allowed myself one meal a day since then but still juicing for everything else. I've been thinking a lot about it over the past several days trying to understand myself better. I've come to the conclusion that decreased socialization leading to feeling isolated is probably the primary factor in my decision. It had gotten to the point where I was spending meal times by myself. Including lunch during work days.....I would end up sitting my car.

Because I only have my experience to go off of, I would say don't come off the 100% juice fast if you're truly determined to do 30 days. Once you eat a "regular" meal you're adding a whole other layer of mental challenge to that commitment. :)

Good news is that I love my juice still! I'm now in a post-juice fast phase where learning the balance of all my nutrition intake is critical. My long term goal is to still include two 16 0z juices per day as my mid-morning and afternoon snacks indefinitely. I also now have my daughter drinking 2-3 juices per week with me and I'm thrilled about that and the impact it will have on her health.

Best of luck to you!! This on-line community is great for helpful hints, positive feedback and basic encouragement and accountability. I hope it's OK that I'm still going to participate even though I'm not doing 100% juice.

My experience with the cheat day in the middle was not successful. I get on a roll, its hard to break the eating/social habit and once I do it, for me it is best to stick until I feel done with my fast. It took me three weeks after my last cheat day to make it through a whole day again! I would make it all day and feel that dinner time pull! Everyone is different obviously, I'm sure you would be successful!

jtellez, I think I'm right with you. I've been absent from the threads since this past weekend. I ended up having "bad food" with my family on Sunday for Mother's Day (and have been living in an isolated guilty world). And then my body felt like total sh** for it and I hopped back on my juice and instantly felt better. I really struggled mentally my second week (largely due to the scale not moving at all) and Mother's Day fell right at the end of my 2 weeks and beginning of my 3 weeks. I like to think of it now as me doing a 15 day reboot followed by another 15 day reboot. Funny thing is though that my "cheat meal" didn't change my weight at all either and today (day 18) I FINALLY started losing weight again on the scale. I have had a handful of super clean and healthy salads for my dinner over the 18 days, and I have stopped feeling bad about it. Partially because I feel like I've made a tremendous amount of change in just my 18 days alone and I truly feel like juicing is the most beneficial tool I've ever had for losing weight, and just being healthy. In 18 days I have watched my heart rate and my blood pressure lower which is HUGE for me. I have felt strong in my convictions to drink my juice and only have a salad if I feel I need it. The fact that I am craving salads and veggies only now is a 180 for me. So here I am at the end of day 18 and all I have had is juice and I haven't craved a salad today, so success. But if I had drank juice all day and then eaten a salad for dinner, I also see that as a success for me. I think it really comes down to each individual person and what works best for you. As long as we can keep our eye on our health, I think we are all winners here!!!!

Today is Day 10 for me. I've loved all but a few days of my Reboot , but I have an unusual problem. On Monday I leave my home in Florida, climb into a motor home and head north (New England) for the rest of the summer. We will take 2 weeks to do it. My 15 Day Reboot is over at the end of Monday. I want to continue with my juice fast but lugging my juicer and the clean up is problematic. Here's my question: Can I continue my Reboot with smoothies using my VitaMix? Will I have digestive issues? Also, most smoothies have higher calories. Suggestions? Maybe I should do my best by eating plant based meals which are lower in calories and drop by a juice bat whenever I can? Start another Reboot when I get home? Ugh! I'm on a roll and I hate giving this up....

    Participation is always welcomed!

As far as allowing a "cheat day" in the middle of my juice fast--its obviously something I've considered. I mean, how could it not be whenever all I wanna do is eat food? Unfortunately, I just know myself well enough that once I make one small concession, another will come. Then another. And another, until I've completely derailed and I'll wind up back where I started. So I can fantasize about a cheat day all I want. I just know I can't allow myself to do so because of how risky it would be for my whole plan, and, to me, one day of eating food isn't worth losing the 17 days of work and perseverance I've already achieved.

I had an indiscretion and it set me back 5 days worth of weight loss, its not worth it, fight the urges and steam ahead !!

Absolutely, DC. Its just not worth it. Especially now that I've come this far.
