Coconut water substitute? Not available here.

Ask the Nutritionist

Posted by WJS on 5 years ago Is there something I can take in substitution of coconut water? I am here in rural France at the moment and it isn't available anywhere. I am feeling quite weak and a little dizzy at times and was wondering if it was because I am unable to take it.

Not sure about the coconut water, but increase your juice intake if you are getting dizzy and weak. Juice at shorter intervals - every 2 or 3 hours. Talk to the nutritionist on this site and explain your situation so that they can help you figure out what to do. They are awesome. Cheers!

Dear WJS, Yes increase your juice intake - you must drink atleast 64oz (2L) per day as a minimum and more if needed. Here is a special post on electrolytes - http://www.rebootwithjoe.com/electrify-your-reboot/ this can be in place of the coconut water! ENJOY

I would very much like to know if there is a substitute. It is SO expensive and I am on a very limited budget! I live in UK..

If coconut water is compulsory (which it seems to be!) does anyone know how to buy it at a cheaper price - maybe wholesale? It's all right for people like Joe -he doesn't have to think about his budget! Can we have some advice for people on a low budget? All I've seen so far is - 'buy a juicer from a charity shop'!

Thank you Claire. I do try to drink that amount of juice daily. It sounds like there is no substitute for the coconut water outside of certain vegetables to use in the juice as shown on the link, I already use many in my juice normally. Perhaps it has nothing to do with electrolytes that I thought I was missing out on not having the coconut water. I will just carry on and hope I start feeling better. Thank you again.

Dear WJS, Do an extra juice per day as your coconut water substitute or make yourself a broth with sea salt - http://www.rebootwithjoe.com/warm-up-with-juice-pulp-veggie-broth-recipe-of-the-week/ Here is more on the ups and downs of a reboot - http://www.rebootwithjoe.com/the-ups-and-downs-of-a-reboot/
