Hi Rookiesuz :) Im on needles, have thought about going over to the pump for years but still not sure. Yes i was thinking about the whole exercise and juicing with diabetes with going low. So i might just watch that, what type of Juices do you find send your levels up and what ones are fine? Do you find the juice lifts your levels when you go low? I have so many questions lol I think i read somewhere that the green juices are better for diabetics. Least i know other type 1's are doing it. How did you go for the first 3 days? I remember when i was doing the low carb diet i had a huge decrease in insulin. Have you lost any weight doing this juicing?

I'm on a pump, so by about day 2 I needed to reduce my basal rates by 0.5 of a unit at least, a little more overnight. I do find the juices lift my levels when I go low. I found all the juices were pretty good for my levels, there was always a post meal spike, but they drop fairly quickly after that to normal, I don't think there is a lot of long-term energy in them? So I decided not to bolus for most of the meals. The first 3 days were fine. Are you doing the first 5 days of transitioning off food onto juices? I would recommend doing that. I have lost weight, I've lost about 5kg, I find it really hard to lose weight, I think it's probably the diabetes, so it's been quite nice to lose some! You will have to watch your levels, it surprised me how little insulin I needed!

Ps. The good thing about being on a pump is that I could just stop the basal insulin if I needed to. it might be a bit harder with needles, especially if you are using a long acting one.

I'm still trying to get my head around this whole how to start this juicing lol and the eating + juicing, so we have the plans yep the 15 day one where its 5 days of juicing and eating and then the 10 days of juicing, i know probably my levels may go higher with juicing until my system gets used to it. Yeah i think it is the diabetes that makes it harder to lose weight. How long have you been a type 1 for? I don't understand the whole Bolus thing haha Ive been told many times i should move over to the pump but gosh too expensive( i don't have private cover) and im not sure i could stand something clipped to me. What does your Endo and Dr think about you doing the juicing thing? My Endo used to always think i had lost the plot when i was low carbing as well as the Dietitian :D We are going to start Saturday, we were ment to start it yesterday but i wanted to find more about it all first. Anyways i am hoping this will help shift weight i had a baby 19 months ago and put on 40 kilos :/ and am finding it sooooo hard to shift it

I love the pump to pieces. I thought it would be weird having something clipped to me, but it doesn't bother me whatsoever. I just tuck it into my bra and I'm good to go. Bolus means using insulin to cover meals. I haven't told my endo or doc about the juice fast. I tend to find that they aren't really open to natural healing etc, so I just don't mention it.

Now im thinking about pumps again haha might have to talk to the Dr. Yeah Dr's can be extremely negative on so many levels. Mine are usually fine with me trying a new diet but do like to have a go about it though. How long have you had Type 1 for?

Does anyone have any results from they're juice fasting and T1 diabetes? I'm thinking about doing it, but the last thing I want to do is invest in the juicer only to find myself in the hospital with a crazy low... Thanks

i am T1 i lasted only 6 days on the juice, my levels did drop low alot so i was munching on jelly beans but anyway it was way way to costly for me, i did lose about 3 kilos in those 6 days, if it wasn't too expensive i would still be doing it, so ive just gone back to low carbing and feel great.
