White Coating on Tongue and Mouth

Reboot Newbies

Posted by marla.poirier on 1 year ago For the last 24 hours ( day 4 of juicing ) I've noticed a disagreeable white coating on my tongue and inside of my mouth. I'm brushing my teeth a lot to get rid of it, but it comes back within 10 minutes or so. I looked online (google'd it) and basically it sounds like I'm detoxing more metabolic sludge, only in a different way, ugg. Is this happening to anyone else?

I am so glad you posted that, me too! I'm on Day 3 and wondered if I was imagining things. I look forward to seeing what else is posted.

Good to hear for me too. The end of day 4 and my breath is awful. Haven't looked at my tongue but my breath is horrible.

I'm on day 9 now. It's definitely getting better, although it's not quite gone. It must be a result of detoxing, which is a very good thing, even though it's uncomfortable. I read that it's not uncommon for your skin to be "smelly" as well. I'm certainly glad that this is a temporary thing!

What's Biotene mouthwash? I'm in New Zealand, not sure if we have that here. Would love to give it a go though if it helped.

Hi Marla Glad to hear it gets better. I'm on day 4. I brushed my teeth so many times I've lost count! Seems slightly better today. My husband is fine (on day 4 too) so he thinks I'm just a bit special. :) I let him know there are at least 2 others! How is it on Day 9? I feel focused today and have lost some weight. This is such an amazing journey.

What made me decide to reboot. After several rounds of prednisone to help one immune-system thing after another, I ended up getitng bigger and bigger mostly because of lack of exercise, and the drug makes you hungry. I also love to cook, and that's a problem too. I have a sit-down job as a graphic artist. Doesn't help. I ended up being around 100lb overweight. I probably gained 30 pounds with the last prednisone series. So I decided to stop the crazy train. I'm on day 10 today. Lost 10 pounds today. My allergies are a lot better and I sleep way better. But I've got a long way to go. 10% gone, 90% to go. So this juice fast is going to continue to be a way of life. My plan is 30 days juicing, 10 days off (I will still juice, just eat a light supper and only have meat once or twice at the most) then back to 30 days. After the weight is off then I'm still going to juice every day, eat meat once a week, with a substantial fish and veggie protein diet. unfortunately I'm allergic to soy, but fortunately I live on the ocean. I like the Dr. Fuhrman eating plan as well, so a certain extent. I have to discover what my personal body works with. So far this is amazing for me. Like you, I feel fortunate about FD&ND. I've tried expensive diet companies and plans before and got nowhere. I think my health issues (I have crohn's disease) aren't really facilitated by diets that still have wheat and meat in them.

Hi Maria, I'm on prednisone too. 80 pounds overweight. I've been getting horrible allergy reactions over the last couple years. Sudden rashes or hives for what seems like no reason. Doctor said due to surpressed immune system from the hormone imbalance I have. I've bee on allergy medicine, antibotics, and prednisone since I was a teenager, so 25 years ago! I'm on day 6, have lost 8 pounds so at least I'm headed in the right direction for once. I haven't looked up Dr. Fuhrman's eating plan, but should do. I can't seem to think beyond trying to get to 30 days. There was another link I commented on, someone who introduced a food to see if they would react to, then juice again for a couple days, then try another. I'm keen to try that myself. I dread to think how much money I've spent on medicines, natural remedies, vitamins, chriopracter, kinesiologist, physiotherapy, accupuncture, massage, bowen therapy, naturopath, osteopath, and doctors..... gosh, seems like more than I realised once I type it out. I really find it difficult to talk about this. Things I often think about, but don't feel brave enough to share. I think I've always been the one taking care of other people so it's difficult to be vulnerable myself. Been good meeting you on this site. It's helping me be brave!

Damn prednisone! I hope, sincerely, that these reboots help us as well as they did Joe. I'm on day 10. (I keep counting, yes, it's definitely day 10 and I've lots 10 pounds.) Looks like it's a pound a day, which is exciting right? This never happened before to me. I would lose 5-6 pounds and then stall, lose maybe a pound a week, if I was lucky. That would mean two years before I was at a goal weight! I know my pattern. I would have been discouraged by the first month. I know that I'm sensitive to kiwi and fennel because I juiced that and got tingly swollen liips... Still have a little bit of the white stuff in my mouth. BUT!!! I'm happy to be here. I'm happy you are too. Like you I've done the naturopathic route, and spent mucho dinaro on tinctures and solutions that didn't really work. This is working. My allergies and pain are starting to decrease. Have a great day Tracie!

Hello Tracie! Well, maybe we ARE special :) I'm on day 8 today. Other than having not my favorite juice for lunch. (I've decided I don't like peppers in my juice, the flavor makes the carrot and kale a little off putting. However. I'll try it with tomato and onion. It will be like a liquid salsa...mmm. Day 8 was pretty great. I feel more clear headed and focused as well. Went to the gym and pushed myself a lot more. My mouth is almost normal now. Today was my first real day of serious temptation. My husband made baked ribs and a saucy baked jambalaya for himself. When I walked in the house I felt like turning around and finding somewhere that didn't smell so darned good. He still had leftovers on the counter. I made him put them in the fridge. I was too afraid to get close to them. Went to bed early tonight to avoid any chance of temptation. I'm a little hungry, but I know that it's just in my head. It's those darned ribs. He better have them for lunch tomorrow. :)

You mentioned about loving to cook, so I thought you may appreciate this! I'm in a book club, our book for this month is My Life In France by Julia Child! I got to about page 15 and had to put down the book. Too much in the way of describing how wonderful cooking and eating is! Couldn't believe it. I'm digging deep to stay focused.

Hi Marla, Those darned ribs! Funny you mentioned ribs, a work mate today was telling me about some ribs she had for dinner and I started singing in my head to distract myself! I've been a bit unsure about the onion, but like you said, hopefully it will be like salsa. I'm on day 5, my tongue still feels funny, but is becoming less white today. I tried some coconut water today and thought it was horrid! I just started exercise today. Got through it okay, but notice I'm more hungry so I just had another juice. What made you decide to reboot? I have hormone problems PLUS being overweight and lots of meds. I could really identify with the fat, sick, and nearly dead! I just feel so fortunate that this info is out there to change our lives.
