Today's the Day 12-30-13

Group Reboots

Posted by TeelaHerman.com on 3 years ago

Hello everyone!

I am starting a 30+ day reboot today! There's no time like the present, right!?! Any fellow juicers out there who are also starting today?

A bit about myself:

I'm 31, living outside of Austin, TX, married and the mother to 3 young and extremely energetic sons. In June of 2012, I was at my max weight, 234 lbs, and I was absolutely miserable. I had no self esteem, I felt like a failure and I hated myself. I was an addict to unhealthy foods and I used those foods as coping skills for whatever mood I was in. If I was happy, I'd celebrate by getting my favorite fast food. If I was worried or stressed out, I'd run to fried foods. Proud of myself for losing a couple pounds? Celebrate with unhealthy processed junk, of course! I was hooked. Then I saw FS&ND in January of 2013 and it changed my life. I did a TON of research and started my 40 day reboot in February. Not only did I get amazing results, I felt amazing! I blogged a lot about it here: http://my40dayjuicefast.blogspot.com/2013/06/my-juicing-journal.html. If you start around February, you'll see a ton of reboot journal entries.

Since then, juicing has been part of my daily life. Thanks to eating clean and juicing, I've been able to maintain that weight loss. I'm actually starting out this reboot at the same weight I ended with during my first reboot!

I still have about 25-30 more pounds to lose before my goal weight. I've considered just juicing until I reach my goal...but I'm not sure. I am going to commit to at least 30 days and then I will re-evaluate. I've personally tried starting out with smaller goals and I don't tend to do as well with those.

I will be starting off the morning with my absolute favorite juice: Anti-Cellulite juice. It's one green apple, one grapefruit, 2-4 sticks of celery (I prefer 4 now, but started off with just 2), and mint. The mint really does add to the drink, too. This juice is a go-to juice of mine because it truly helps me shed the weight (I call it the Fat Shredder) due to the grapefruit and celery. Here is a link to the recipe, if you want to bookmark it: http://my40dayjuicefast.blogspot.com/2013/03/anti-cellulite-juice.html

Does anyone else care to join me? I'll be coming back to update this daily. :) wish me luck!

    hey Juicingxtwo

During my first 40 day reboot, my husband joined me as well. He didn't really stick with it 100% but having him there during the first week was amazing. I don't think I could have done it without him.

Best of luck in the upcoming reboot. When do you plan on starting?

My husband and I are starting January 1, 2014. I have to say i'm a little nervous about this. I think my main concern is with all the bad symptoms everyone seems to feel during the first few days how do you tell what is just a normal detox issue and what could be a serious situation like an allergic reaction or some other serious reaction. I am excited though just not sure what to expect.

Well, a serious allergic reaction would occur immediately, and is pretty rare, I'm sure. Some people tend to get dizzy, lightheaded, a headache, aches and pains, nausea, moodiness, tiredness, a cloudy feeling in the head, and things of that nature.

During the reboot process, the most important thing is to listen to your body and just kind of be prepared for what to expect. I see a lot of people give in around day 2 or 3 when they feel dizzy or lightheaded. While it might seem scary at first, know that it is just a part of the detoxing process. Also, when I get lightheaded, I know it's time to make another juice. It's my body's way of telling me it needs more nutrients and energy.

Detoxing isn't pleasant (so far, no symptoms on day 1. My hardest days tend to be 2-4) but just know that it won't take long and you really will start feeling better. The added energy is awesome!!!! Not to mention all of the other amazing benefits.

Hang in there. Come to this thread and check in. Staying accountable really does help. :)

Julea when we did our first 15 day we had about 3-5 days of headache and feeling tired but nothing super drastic, we just kept reminding ourselves about the FSND movie we saw and how good Joe and the others started to feel...You can do it!!!

Thanks Juicingxtwo. I was afraid I was going to feel totally out of it. This helps!

For me, it's days 2-4 that are the hardest. And really, just keep your eye in the light at the end of the tunnel. Keep telling yourself, " this too shall pass......" And really, it will! :)

I'd love to join in. Im a mom if three as well who loves Austin, TX. I lived in Dallas for awhile and loved hitting Austin for the weekend. I have 40 lbs to lose and so much life to gain. I would feel so much better following someone who has had such success. I'm ready.

    Welcome, Dagny!

I'm so happy to have you! Not only does having a buddy make the journey more enjoyable, I personally think it helps you stay on track and gives you greater chance for success. I'm going to post my "before" photos and starting weight tonight. I find that being so public with everything helps me stay accountable.

Tonight my mother in law is taking our family out to eat dinner. It's going to be hard overcoming the urge to eat, but I'm going to stay strong.

My hubby and I are starting a 10 day fast on the 6th of Jan. Neither of us have done juicing before so we are a little nervous! My main concern is I would 4 x10s at work so I am at work by 6 am and not home till 5ish so if you have any advise about storing or being able to juice at work (not the actual making of) would be fantastic!!!

    Hi Moonshine!

First off, congrats on making the decision to start juicing! It can be a bit scary, intimidating and overwhelming in the beginning.

For taking juice to work, my best advice would be to make a few batches of juice at home either the night before or the morning of work (whatever works best for you and your lifestyle). Get the juice and store it in glass, airtight containers, filling the juice to the absolute top, allowing for as little air in the jar as possible. I personally use Mason jars (I have a few 16 oz and a few 24 oz jars) and they work great. Keep the juice cold and put it in the fridge as soon as possible. The least amount of air, then the longer it will take for your juice to breakdown.

I'm so excited about doing this and hubby is too! We ordered a juicer online and expect it anyday! Been making room in fridge for all the fruits and vegs too. We have a ninja and its not a juicer but will make whatever you put in there juice with lots of pulp! We plan on using both juicer and ninja. I am definetely gonna try your fat shredder recipe!
