Teeth and gum aching

FAQ

Posted by BosteroNYC on 11 months ago Hello everyone! I'm brand new to this and I'm on day 2 (but commited to 10 to try this out). My girlfriend laughs at me when I tell her that my gums are hurting, and that I feel like I'm grinding my teeth a lot. I'm just curious to know if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks!

The mouth is a common site for detox effects... many people get a "coated tongue" and my gums have been kind of gummy and such almost the whole time (finishing Day 33). I can't say for sure, but I would venture a guess to say that it is just one of the ways your body is letting you know there is some detox going on. It's a good thing :-D

You probably heard that chewing gum is a good thing during the fast. You (we) were designed to chew food and when you aren't doing that you'll have this result. Make sure you are flossing (very gently). The grinding is your body telling you, you need to chew. Make sure it's sugarless, you'll make all us dentists happy! So chew on my friend!

Juicykris, how long does the white tongue last?! I am at the end of day 7 and thought it might be gone by now! Fantastic job with day 33!!!

As far as the white tongue. Be sure to brush your tongue it could be plaque build up. It also could be a yeast infection. Sounds bad but, it does appear in the mouth also. If brushing does not help, go to your dentist, there are medicines to treat the infection.

On the white tongue, from an Ayurvedic perspective, it illustrates the presence of "ama" or toxins in the system. In 3 weeks of reboot, its cleared around the edges and front and is more to the centre back now. So the periphery has cleared but the digestive track still has some cleaning to go. I'm using it as a detox barometer. ;-) It takes time for the system to detox years of buildup. Its a side benefit with weight loss.

I"m glad I read about that in advance. I'm very paranoid about my teeth... I might have gone insane over all loose gums!! Will be sure to chew a lot of gum!! Another question related to teeth if I may since we are on the topic.. has anyone worried about or noticed any acid wear on your teeth due to all the fruit??? Thanks.

You're right about the acid! Rinse your mouth with water after drinking the juice. This will help.

Theres no more fruit in the juices than some people eat in a day. And only some of the fruit is acidic. V8 juice would be more hazardous, which its not. Reboot uses time-tested recipes that are known to support weight loss. If you follow the program reasonably, you really don't need to worry about your teeth. In fact, the extra nutrition will probably help.

As I write this, I'm chewing a piece of Sugarfree Orbit and it feels great, ha! I've been drinking a lot of water now, and even the water tastes different. I sort of feel like it actually has a "taste" now. Kinda metallic, but I like it. Well I wanted thank everyone for their input. I think I might be posting more since reading this forum has been a little therapeutic for me. :)

Hi there I am in the Dental industry and thought I would respond to your post. It may be from the acidity maybe? there is a toothpaste you can get called Pronamel and it is a sensodyne product and it helps with all that, we always recommend it to people who are big citrus eaters or tomatoes.. Also if your gums are sore and especially if they are swollen, dark red, or bleeding , that is a sign of gum disease or gingivitis, gingivitis is quite common, im not sure but maybe the detoxing is making it more noticeable?? But the solution would be to visit a proper dental hygienist and get a really good deep scaling (cleaning) you will notice initially they will bleed more afterwards (thats ok its just the inflammation) and may be still sore for couple of day (warm water salt rinses after hygienist treatment is really good) but then you will notice they will become nice and firm and a pale colour, that is a sign of healthy gums... Not sure if i am on the right track but thought i would answer since i am in that industry Cheers Ange :)

Do you drink a lot of fruits? The sugar in fruits is a killer! try doing a lot more green veggies if you havent. have you heard of chewing your liquids to help the enezymes breaking down the juice. Also try brushing your teeth right after your done drinking your juice. It helped me a lot. And the white tounge thing. that's candida coming out. If you go 2 or 3 days on just veggie juice you'll notice it get worse than clear up pretty quickly. GOOD LUCK MATE!

Hello everyone, the aching has stopped. Chewing gum helped me a bit, but I think it might have been part of the detoxing going on. Not sure. The good thing is that if anyone else does experience it...it should go away. Thanks everyone for the advice!
