Starting 11/15/13 - REALLY need buddies for support

Group Reboots

Posted by TheWilsons on 3 years ago

Hello! We are in search of some serious candidates for being a buddy to this couple that SO DESPERATELY needs to lose weight. We are barely in our 40s but feel like we are 80. We have been inspired by the FS&ND film, but after trying the fast in the past (21 days) and restarting multiple times since, we realize we NEED some folks to stay accountable to. Would you be willing to be that accountability partner for us? We are SO tired of being sick and tired - and we just might be nearly dead. Of course, we are here to be givers as well, and not just takers, so we will do our best to offer encouragement ourselves as we go. Thanks for your consideration of helping us get this done. We absolutely must get our health under control, and it is either now or never. Thanks! All the best to you all.

Just started my reboot today (11/14/13) and I need some buddies myself. This is my first time juicing and I need to lose almost 100 pounds. I am 37 years old. I was also really inspired by FS&ND - I randomly stumbled upon it and it felt like fate as I am at the end of my rope and am desperately needing to make major changes in my life. Good Luck & I am hoping we can do this together!

LucyJuicy, I'm 37 as well and need to lose about 100 pounds too! Congratulations on starting already, I'm getting my juicer today and I'll take a few days to learn how to use it and prepare good juices, then I'm heading out on a hopefully 60 day juice fast as well! We can do it!!

We sound really similar in situations. I have over 100 lbs to lose, and this is so daunting. That is why I was hoping for buddies on here because I cannot seem to get it done on my own. Here's to us getting this done and having great success. It may be hard to go through the holidays, but which is harder - poor health and feeling poorly or juicing? We know the answer to that one. :-)

Hi there, if it's any comfort the outcome is so worth the considerable effort. Don't think about losing a 100 pounds, take it 10 at a time. Everytime you lose 10 pounds have a nice healthy meal and then start again the next day. That way you can have a little reward and also keep with the benefits. I hope you find your Mojo :-)

I have been trying another nutritionists diet for the past couple of weeks with those awful tasting shakes (VLCD). Failing miserably and need to drop 22kg's. I have never fasted before and I have a 10yo son and a hungry partner who will not do this...I am the carer and cook so I am wanting to do this, but not sure if I can stick to it as there will be sooooo much temptation right under my nose - literally! I reckon I will need help so I would like to join as well if OK. I thought I might try a short reboot to see how I go. How long are you all doing it for? Maybe if you guys all keep going and I can make a start I will stay on it longer...Never know till you try eh!? So can I join your group guys? I have only just registered on this site and still have to look it over properly but I am up for it :o) I live on the mid north coast of New South Wales, Australia in a lovely place called Coffs Harbour. Where are you all from?

Absolutely you can join us, tchapman1!! We are glad to have you. This is being planned as a 60 day, but do what you can. All of it counts toward improving your health, and that is what this is all about. I am in Oklahoma in the US. I can't say it is "lovely" but I can think of may other places that are worse, so I won't complaint. :-) Welcome, and here's wishing all of us success!!

Hi I am from New Zealand and am on day 11. I also tried the shakes but failed as i was always hungry after them. The first think I can say is the first few days are hard. I also have to cook family meals. By day 5 I no longer wanted what I was cooking which amazed me. If you get through the first few days you will be on a roll. If you want to add me as a friiend I can give you some support if needed. Best of luck you can do this :)

Hi there tchapman1, I'm from Armidale and know Coffs well. I have just started a 30 day reboot and am on day three. It's going well so far but I am sure overall the most challenging thing will be just resisting food and the sensation of chewing. I'm not hungry at all but have been a bit headachy on and off. How are you going so far? I am happy to offer support and encouragement if you need. Once thing, to me so far, the hardest part has been mentally preparing for this and actually starting it.

I LOVE that you are doing this as a couple. I started this with me and my two youngest daughters who are also overweight. My husband saw the huge change in me and decided that even though he is a truck driver, he wanted to juice too. He took a juicer on the road and lost 20 lbs and got his blood pressure down in time for his company physical. And that was in just a few weeks. I've been here for a few months and it has changed my life so much. I have well over 100 to lose but I've already lost over 40 just since Aug 23. Only about 3 weeks of that was on just juice. Do give it an honest chance. It will be worth the trouble. When you hit those detox days (usually around day 3-5) just stick it out and rejoice that your body is getting rid of all those poisons in your system to make room for vibrant health and energy. You won't believe how much better you'll feel afterwards!

Oh and I can't believe you are from Oklahoma! I thought I was the only Okie on the planet who had found their way here. LOL I'm in Sapulpa:) This isn't exactly health food central is it;o) But we can do this!

Hi there, fellow Oklahoman! Good to have you here and especially your encouraging words to keep on keeping on. I'm positive we will be needing those words in a few short hours. LOL! Isn't it frustrating that being healthy is hard in our society? With junk food all around us, it is hard, but we strong ones will make it. Thanks for joining us and for your comments!

thanks for the welcome! I started this morning, it's a bit strange, I keep thinking I'll go get some Starbucks, but then I remember I can't. I'm drinking the coconut water right now...kind of gross, any suggestions?

  • Natshell62

Try a different brand. There is quite a difference from one brand to the next. I like coconut water but some people don't like it from any brand. Some can put it in their juice and handle it that way. It's not critical that you drink it, it's just another tool in your belt:)

The thing that got me through cold mornings without coffee was having herbal tea. Actually, the first thing I drink every morning, and many people swear by it, is hot water with lemon and ginger. Most people add just a bit of honey or stevia as well. It is really, really good for digestion, immune system etc. google it or check it out on youtube. It's awesome! But to replace that "coffee comfort" I drink herbal tea. Also, since a lot of people get cold on reboot, you can make broth from your juice pulp and sip on hot broth. (Commercial brands add waaay too much sodium and preservatives.) The broth is a life saver for many of us.

I agree with Natshell62 - brands seem to make a difference for me. However, with that said, it isn't your typical "comfort drink" or coffee replacement, etc., but I think if you find a brand you find pleasant to taste, you will be hooked on it soon. Love the broth idea too. That should help in the winter months ahead of us. Good luck and let us know what you find with different brands of coconut water.

    Hey The Wilsons

I'm 66 male, just lost 30 lbs by calorie counting.

Thought a juice only fast was a good way to get me back on track after a costly (lb wise) business meeting

    Started at 262

Wt at beging of my juice only is 232

Would like to get to 162 which would put me in the 100lb class.

This is my second day and I'm surprised that I'm not hungry yet. The juices I'm making however are pretty nasty. Trying to stay at 20% fruit and 80% vegetables tends to get some nasty concoctions ,

Is this a group, what's it's name and can I join?

  • TheWilsons

Welcome! This isn't an "official group" that you have to "join," but you are welcome to come here any time for inspiration or to inspire. We all have the same goal in mind of getting healthier, so the more the merrier. Thanks for posting and good success on your juice fast.

Hey guys! Greetings from Vancouver, BC. It is day 1 and I am hungry but hopefully it will get better soon. I am following the 15 day plan that has 5 days of juice + food to start. Hoping to do this twice and make it a 30 day. We'll see from there. Have 40-50 pounds to lose. Here goes! Hope I can join in on your group. We can do this!

  • TheWilsons

Hi, Maja! So glad to have you here. As for the hunger, I would say you need to drink more juice. I had found in my previous juice fast that I needed juice every two hours (or as close to that as my schedule would allow) and whenever feeling hungry. DRINK MORE. This is what your body needs, and the hunger is the signal that it sends to you to up the juices. Keep us posted on how you do with that, and here's to great success on your juicy journey! :-)

    Hi Maja
yes, it gets easier after the first day
secret- : do not think of being deprived
Think of how much greater it is to taste new vegs and fruits
Enjoy the excitement of this adventure
