Plan for Juice FASTING for 30 or more days?

Reboot Newbies

Posted by PamelaF on 2 years ago I see the plans all involved juicing and eating except the 3 day long weekend. I have just jumped in to this at the deep end and went straight into a juice fast.....is there any info here about juice fasting and not eating at all on this site? I know in the FS and ND he went to the doctor before doing that so perhaps they do not encourage that on here?? I try to avoid doctors myself so that won't be happening lol

Most people advise you see a doctor first for various reasons. The first is to ensure their due diligence against any liability...and for good reason -you could be on special medications, have particular allergies etc. That said, I started juicing without any such consultation - I figured that the time to see a doctor is when i put poor processed foods into my body and not nutritional fresh juices!!!I was not on any medications and was relatively healthy. I am now on day 16 and feel great - so good luck with your juicing goal. Also, much better advice than mine is available in the Ask the Nutritionist section of this website.

Pamela I have not done it myself, but I will be beginning what I hope to be a 30 day fast tomorrow - consisting only of juice. I got the inspiration from a very close friend who watched the Doc., got inspired and started cold turkey the next day. He went 60 days and lots about 68 pounds. He felt so good, after two weeks of "regular food" he has decided to go at it again for another 30 to 60. Neither he nor I went to or are going to a doctor prior. I plan on using common sense to know my body and whats going on. I can be certain that micronutrient rich juices will do nothing worse than the sheer crap I put in now. GOOD LUCK TO YOU, and I'll be there with you. And fyi - both he and many other say about day 3 is the hardest. Make that day and its all downhill.

Thanks Mark and Kevin.....I am on day 5 now and lost 5 lbs which is why I am doing this....weight loss.....I am feeling great, only thing that comes close to feeling detox is I have been colder at night in bed....perhaps that's the low grade fever they mention. I have no health issues, and am not taking any medications so I don't think I need to see a doctor.....just wondered if that is the reason they dont actually give a JUICING only plan other than the 3 day weekend. I am so excited to see how fast this works....good luck to you both as well! What kind of juicer are you using?? I am in the market so asking evetyone! so confusing!

I'm interested on how you've done. I have spinal cord issues, and went from EXTREMELY active, to just about 100% sedentary. This has been going on over a year and a half, and I'm so frustrated. I don't eat more, but you don't burn calories sitting. I am hoping the two recent procedures I had done will help my back and legs, but I saw the movie, and since chronic pain is linked to inflammation, I thought I should try the fast for reduction of inflammation, and weight loss. I'm only 52 and have a handicapped placard in my car, which I don't even drive anymore. Sorry to ramble. Just want to know how this worked for you!!

Hi Lisha Sorry to hear that. This diet is good even if you don't follow it 100%. I don't do it 100% juice diet, I take it for breakfast and snack (3pm cravings) and cook veg for dinner and have with Greek yogurt. I think I lost 3 pounds in around 3 week period. I am going to make this as my regular diet so not rushing to lose weight. Just make sure you don't feel week and stock up toilet rolls,it will really clean you up :-) Did you consider some upper body workout? Hope the procedure you are going to have will fix your issue. Wish you the best

I just started yesterday....I am on this to see if it will help my hormones and my dead metabolism. It seems no matter what I do I cannot loose weight. I am juicing only and my goal is to do it for 10 days (maybe longer if I get amazing results) I felt good on my first day until 2am when a headache from hell woke me up. Took advil and ate a hard boiled egg and finally fell back to sleep. I have a vitamix but that made the drink too thick so I purchased the Breville Juice Fountain Plus. I like it so far. Good Luck and excited to have support

I want to do 30 day juice fast for weight loss and health. I can not find anything on this site that says what to juice and how much. Should I use the basic recipe that comes with the reboot video and if so how much should I drink per day. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I think there is no measuring, you drink as you like -:) I drink one glass In the morning and get 591ml to office as my breakfast. I am not totally on juice diet, so I bring another 591 ml for snack,. If you are on total juice diet you keep drinking as feel hungry I believe. I follow recipes from breville site, food network and mostly I make my own. Sometime they come out good and sometimes I wonder what I added :-) , but I finish the drink. Don't add skin for oranges and grape fruit - I did that, it tasted horrible Hope thi helps Wish you the best

I believe that the 15 day is the one that Joe did in the movie. 5 days of prep, then he extended the juice only to 60 days, and then 5 days to get off. I have done a 3 day, 10 and am currently doing a 30 day fast. The key to avoid the headaches and total misery is the days leading up to it. I did it in three days, but I was already eating pretty healthy. I went from 3 cups of coffee to two, then one, then none and only ate salads, fruits, veggies, beans and nuts to prepare. I drink 4 juices- 16 ounces each a day (64 oz), sometimes one more and try to drink 48 oz f water. I have been blogging about it and included all kinds of tips and answers to questions that I had when I started including recipes, a shopping list, etc... Maybe that will help! You will LOVE juicing! Here are the two links! http://theassistant.wordpress.com/2012/02/21/joining-the-juicing-bandwagon/ and also this http://theassistant.wordpress.com/2012/02/21/joining-the-juicing-bandwagon/

Hi Pamela, I started out with the Jack LaLanne juicer from Costco for $89.99 and it will do the trick, but every once in a while grapes got stuck and cleaning was kind of a pain. I sold that and bought a Breville Juice Fountain Plus which I love. It was $149. and has a ton more power and one less cleaning step. I would like to someday try the Omega 8006, but for now, the Breville is really nice! I get the need for something else too, but go to herbal tea with a tad of stevia... it takes the edge off! I love Celestials Bengal Spice. They have it at walmart... it's kind of like a chai without the caffeine! I find if you make juices all at once, it's much more manageable! That's awesome that the two of you are doing it together!

thanks Amy.....well I didn't have a beer.... I had 2 .... but I am still happy that I spent the day juicing....I could have ate bread and peanut butter, meat and potatoes or pasta and then had the beer so I am still ahead of the game.....i do wonder on the detoxing which I think is a major reason for the weight loss if I am screwing things up there ....today is another day , thanks for the info on the juicer. I too would like the Omega but not sure whether the 8000 series or the Vert 350 Have you been juicing long? are you in it for weight loss ?

Hi I have done a 60 day fast and have just started my second 60 day fast. I found the hunger hardest to deal with but I don't believe it was hunger. It was more the wanting to eat because having a full tummy makes us feel good. It is worst at night and my belly makes strange noises. I think this is due to food digesting through a empty stomach. I know I am getting all my nutrients but at times I just want to get a piece of bread and smother it in peanut butter and I have to stop myself. Our house has changed all our eating habits, so no food in the house that hasn't arrived in it's natural form, that way I can't be tempted. I agree with Amy, get some herbal teas to have between juices. I freeze juice in ice block tray and pop them in a glass of water between juices too.
