Reboot Newbies

Today Is my day 1 of a 15 day juice only reboot. I did the 15 day program and took 2 days off. I lost 17 lbs in the 15 days my original goal is 30 lbs then reassess. I wanted to start with 30 so I wouldn't be overwhelmed at the thought of making a 50lb goal and not seeing weight loss. I have a pituitary tumor that slows my metabolism, so in the past it has taken me months to lose weight then it slowly creeps back on. I can see making this a regular part of my life and converting to a whole food vegan way of eating. Today I made UnBeetAble for breakfast, Aussie Green for lunch and dinner, and Australian Gold for an afternoon snack, and purple passion for Dessert. I have my own Kale growing, it grows over a 2 year period so I just cut the leaves off and place them in a water glass. I also have beets, and substitute the beet tops for chard in some recipes. I also like them cooked or in salads. Right now we are juicing! My husband has been a great support, and today he left on a 4 day golf outing with some friends to benefit breast cancer. So I am inspired to lose a few pounds before he returns! Juice on my friends!

17lbs shed over just 15 days is awesome ... nice work !

i love beet tops too, they are one of my favourite foods and go well in a juice.

    happy juicing !

can you please explain what you mean about placing the kale leaves in a water glass ... i had a plant last year but never actually harvested it ... will it grow back this year É

Thank-you Joe! I was so happy to see that weight come off! As for the Kale, I just take scissors and cut the leaves off at the stem of the plant. When I get a big fistfull I bring them into the house wash them off so they are ready to go then put the stems in a glass of water and leave them on the kitchen counter. They stay fresh and free up space in the refrigerator. You can see the beet tops better in the picture above, I put those in a canning jar. I had thrown them in the fridge 2 days ago because I was in a hurry. I was sad to see that they had begun to wilt. I put them in the jar this morning, and they look as fresh as just picked. I took another picture. Kale is a biannual so it grows for 2 years then goes to seed. I planted 9 along my garden fence just because they looked pretty, and I had juiced Kale and thought it was great. I didn't harvest much over the summer at all, now the plants have several stems and a lot of leaves. I planted 6 of the Curly variety last week. I really like the variety I now have because there seems to be more juice than the curly one. I bought a large bag of the curly variety and was disappointed on maybe getting a tablespoon from several handfuls.

Went out to the garden and picked more Kale I was so very hungry this afternoon and realized it was time for my afternoon snack, then when I went to get it realized I only drank half of my lunch because I went out to get firewood then when I stacked it by the fireplace and got the fire just right headed out for a walk, forgetting to finish it. Then I drank my snack and had some hot broth feeling satisfied right now!

I know I can't believe it I have a pituitary tumor that slows my metabolism, so it is very hard for me to lose weight. Before this reboot I bought a fitbit for exercise and got an app to count calories. Even though I was eating way under the calorie amount to maintain my weight It didn't budge a bit, and I was also walking 2 1/2 miles daily. Then I went on a 4 day soup reboot and drank 4 vegetable soups a day I lost 4 lbs and was going to do it again after I spent a week with my family. My sister showed me the DVD Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead, because she was thinking of doing it. I came home and downloaded the 15 day reboot went grocery shopping and got great results. I don't expect I will always get the same results; however when you have more weight to lose it often comes off faster at the beginning. I am up to a 3 mile a day walk/run and can jog about 2 miles of the trail. I really needed to lose 50 lbs so I am on my way there.

    Hi Mandi,

My sister started yesterday! I am hoping she sticks to it because she will be thankful that she did. I told her to set a low goal at first like 10 lbs because when you meet that goal it gives you the courage and resolve to continue on for the second 10 lbs. If you set your goal too high you get discouraged when the weight doesn't come off. Today is day 2 for me juices only.

The top photo shows ingredients for Pear Pie Delight, 2nd photo is No Fruit/No Problem, I didn't much care for it as it was I added a squeeze of lemon, sea salt and pepper, plus tabasco and it was much more enjoyable! The 3rd is Just Beet It. I added the remnants of the No Fruit/ No problem to the broth I made out of other remnants, and the taste is much better.

Day 3 today. Been busy around the house all day and also going to the grocery store and running errands. Today's Juices Sunrise, Mean Green, Australian Gold. (Purple passion for dessert but I had to buy Blueberries, and haven't made it yet). I like to use a reamer for my citrus it goes quicker than peeling and juicing. On television I saw a tip that if you keep your citrus in the refrigerator to put it in the microwave for 20 seconds and you will be able to juice it more easily and get more juice from the fruit as well.
